I passed my CAT C license with work at the first go and I'd never been in a truck before. First lesson on monday morning and I'd passed by the friday. If you have the luxury of time take it.

Cheers for your reply Mat. It'll be in telecomms industry. I've been told to find an accountant and tell him to 'sort it all out for me', give him my company name and get him to do the rest. It'll be an avenue I investigate. I know that umbrella companies arrange sick pay etc which is a plus but as you say they can be dodgy and I've not really heard a good thing said about them yet.

Just bear in mind that a Trek dealer won't mail order it to you… you'll have to go to the shop to collect.

I wonder as well. As far as I can tell the LTA pump 30 million a year into 'british tennis talent' with nothing to show for it. The media seem to enjoy the fact that we are actually not really as good as we should be and report accordingly.

Firestarter- I'm a tad under 6'0 (182cm) and riding a large ML7. I'd tried mediums and I felt like my hips and legs were pedaling forward rather than down. Sounds odd I know but it wasn't right. I was told large would be fine and took a bit of a leap of faith. Can't recommend an ML7 enough….

Last November I bought an ML7 frame with DUC fork and front wheel for £400 which I thought was a great price. The paint is a bit tatty but it's sound otherwise. I'd make sure you can get a test ride to make sure you get a frame that fits. I thought I'd be a medium but large was much better.

I did circuit training twice a week for 6 months several years ago and found it sorted my fitness out no end. It wasn't bike specific but anything that get the heart and lungs working has to be good? I found I worked a lot harder having someone shouting at me. Why not give it a go and see what you think?

I managed 40 mins over lunch on the training area in Bordon. Sun and singletrack… what more could I ask for?

Terrorism there never really went away. Granted there were no bombs in the mainland but there were still targeting of RUC officers, kneecappings and extortion etc. It hasn't made the news largly because of A'stan etc. These people control the drugs market now and are still active. We'll be there for a while longer yet.

Cotton wool lightly dampened with water. Kiwi black polish. Small amount of polish on the cotton wool, polish in tiny circles on the toe caps, repeat until happy. That or take it to the Painters and finishers on the nearest RAF camp. £5 a pair….. (ex RAF TG3)

Although not a medical professional a friend of mine is a firefighter. One day his watch are called to the large hospital in the town where he works. It turns out a bloke had admitted himeslf to A and E with something stuck around his wanger. This bloke had put his c*ck through a keyring, then got wood and presumably had a good sherman- four or five days ago no less. He's had wood for the best part of five days and it's still not gone down. This blokes old chap is and I quote 'the size of a can of lager'. Not only that it is an interesting purpley red and stinks. His c*ck has started to rot.
The doctors and nurses trying to remove the keyring are struggling to remove it as every time they attempt to remove said keyring it hurts a fair bit. Needless to say they guys from trumpton remove it eventually. When asked how it got on his wanger the bloke replies 'my flatmate put it on me when I was asleep'.

Sam I disagree. I have a Dekerf Team ST. There are two versions of this bike. One with ti chainstays and one with steel. The ti stayed ones did have a reputation for breakage at the BB end. The steel stayed version doesn't have a reputation for breakage. I guess it all depends on the design.

I went out on the STW southern ride to Swinley at the start of the month. It rained all moning. I was wearing Goretex paclite and lifa base layer on my upper body and Event waterproof trousers on my legs with no base layer. I was comfortable on my top half but by the end of the morning my legs were very sweaty. I have found that you certainly need a wicking layer next to a breathable fabric for maximum benefit.

Has anyone tried Ventile and can you still get clothing made of it?

I SS'ed my old Litespeed Niota- I just used a chain tensioner. There was no real issues with chain growth and this was on a 5 inch of travel frame.

When I went through RAF trade training there was a guy a few courses behind mine who was a few chips short of a happy meal. The night before we were going out on exercise he burst into the four man room I was in, dressed only in his reg grundies with his face covered in brown cam cream singing at the top of his lungs "let me entertain you!". I was speechless.
A few years later I ran into him in the Naafi shop on a training camp. He had picked up a bongo mag and was reading it intently as he walked up and down the isles. He reached the counter to pay for his purchases and continued to read his mag in front of the old girl on the checkout.
The man was a legend. I think he was slightly insane though.
