I’ve just stopped using a pair of cheap Shimano pedals that I got nine or ten years ago. They’ve been replaced with another pair of Shimano pedals. There are lighter and nicer looking pedals but for reliability and value for money I don’t think much can beat Shimano.

I ride a Tranny, it’s geared but it is a fantastic bike. You certainly won’t regret getting one….

I’m ex RAF and don’t regret one second of my service. The trade I joined up has given me a career that is easily transferable to civvie street as well. I had a cracking time, both working hard and playing hard. If he hasn’t already get your lad to have a look at the other branches of the military if he hasn’t already, the other services have plenty to offer as well. Good luck to your son.

Like the Sherman. Good work on the weathering. I have a load of kits insulating the loft currently. I’ll get around to building them one day.

@ Zed, I’m not too far from Barford either. Is there anything worth riding around there? I tend to give the road bikes a bit more attention as I’ve not seen anything worth a look.

I’m using a pair Klipsch Image One headphones with my iPad. They do let a bit of noise in but they are very very good.

Honey, lemon whiskey and boiling water. Drink it with two paracetamol. Go straight to bed wrapped up and sweat. It’s horrible but I swear by it.

I acquired my workbench through work. It was an MOD wood working bench and I swapped for two bacon rolls and a box of cakes. It is really really heavy though. I need to sort the tool board next. More pictures please.

I think in the early days of mountain biking there were good and bad bikes. Full sus came along and again there were good and bad bikes. Design is refined so much now there are minor differences as you say. I test rode a carbon bike and a ti bike today and they both felt broadly similar.

As long as you like it who gives a s*it?

But on the other side of the coin we have politicians decide to change their residences and fiddle their expenses…. Perhaps if they showed more of an example?

Nothing wrong with that, I love my ML7. I recommend an Avid Rollamagig thingy to help with the front mech or use Gripshift (which is what I do). What’s it’s name?

Nothing wrong with that! That is a fantastic impulse buy. I love my ML7. For the front mech I use an Avid Rollamagig to ease the cable run. I also use XO gripshift which has given me no problems at all. What’s its name?

I got one of these as my first plane Super Cub

I know it has a controller but its a great beginners plane and easy to fly. There are plenty of spares available as well. Factor in another battery and a couple of props as well.

Class!! ’90’s steel Konas are the nicest looking bikes ever made…. I had a ’96 Kilauea which was a fantastic bike. I should never have sold it.

No, I’m afraid that’s not me. I’ll keep a lookout for it though. You’ll find me in the compound with the massive golf ball in it.

I’m in the same position as the OP. Looking for a ‘trail’ HT frame. My shortlist is Ibis Tranny, Pace RC104, C456 or a Soul. One of the best bikkes I ever owned was a 96 Kona Kilauea and after seeing how the Soul compares against the Kona I’m not quite so sure about a Tranny.

Serious man, your f*cking Missus is nuts. My Missus is nuts ‘n’ all. She rings me at least 40 times a day… serious.

Just an update, I emailed last night and have just had an email back from CRC telling me everything is sorted, all before nine in the morning. I can’t argue with customer service like that.

Not seen order confirmation to my email but they show as processing on my CRC account page. I didn’t think to look after the first purchase failed. Lesson learned there then. This is the first time I’ve had problems with them in the years I’ve been ordering….

I remember trying to sneak a small toy car into school wrapped in an apron. Mum found it went nuclear…. I never did it again though. Lessons have to be learned one way or another.

I’ve had this recently. I went to buy some clothing online and opted to pay by PP. The order appeared to complete without a problem. I then receive an email (from the retailer) telling me there was a problem and please contact them. I did and they told me PP payment hadn’t gone through. I then cancelled the order. I’ve not tried to buy anything since though. I have been able to transfer money to Mrs Beaker though??

Try and sniff out a telecomms principles book. Wikipedia (yes I know) is worth a look. I can only talk from the satellite side of things but in past interviews I’ve been asked about frequency bands, principles, how weather affects a signal, satellite orbits etc etc.. HTH

What musical instrument does he play? If you’re going to join the Marines you need to be able to play an instrument.

Only kidding, just winding the booties up!

I would question his desire to join up at such a young age. Firstly from a maturity point of view and secondly watching all your course mates getting drunk on a free evening isn’t as much fun as joining in with them….

I haven’t seen the latest mag yet but do they test four bikes or more than four? They usually test four bikes and in this issue it’s four at the grand mark. Hardly makes it WMB does it?
The calendar comes out once a year, hardly makes it the deal breaker over renewing a sub. Not sure about your last comment.

It sounds to me like you’ve made your mind up.
