But the A10 is 30 years old and the airframes are coming to the end of their life. There is no doubt that it’s an excellent CAS aircraft and has been superb in Iraq and Afghanistan against an enemy with no real integrated air defence system. Against a peer/near peer adversary with reasonable (read soviet double digit SAMs) I think the A10 would struggle. Your equipment should be ready for the next war and not the last one.

If you’re near Alice Holt you’re near Bordon. The training area there although small, does have some nice singletrack. It’s not signposted so does rely on a bit of exploration. You wouldn’t get a day out of it but it’s good for a couple of hours.

@Crashtest- If he had emailed me and said there’s a problem and can’t get them posted I wouldn’t have written this thread. Before I paid we emailed a fair bit and he replied very quickly. To go quiet once paid on Sunday and not reply to any emails in the four days after and only email me a one liner on Friday once I escalated to PayPal is poor form. I’ve given him a couple of days after the bank holiday to compensate. I just don’t think im going to get them.

Apologies Wiggles that’s a mistake. I paid him on Sunday 24th after he said he’d get them posted the next day. I had nothing from him until the Friday after I opened a PayPal dispute.

I’m Ex RAF, joined up in a technical trade (electronics). Spent most of my time in working in Satellite Communications and came out into the same line of work. I had a great time and would do it all again in a heartbeat. If my kids expressed an interest I’d happily encourage them to consider joining up. The best thing your lad can do is go down to the CIO and have a chat with all three services.

At the risk of a slagging from the Army bods on here- I used to be an instructor in satcomms to the services and most of the Army Signals troops said they wish they’d joined the RAF….

Mate of mine rode his motorbike home after his op….. He was a Para though.

I’m currently sat in the cafe with a brew and a slice of cake. It was nice to put the bike back in the car as clean as I arrived. Trails are dry, fast and mostly empty. If only I’d come yesterday when it was a little warmer!

If you’re anywhere down south A303/A350 I have the tools you need to remove and replace you headset.

I had a W reg Sharan for a couple years. You know the one, big and ugly beloved of cab drivers. It was awesomely practical. It swallowed everything, kit and bikes with the wheels still on, the boot lid doubled as an umbrella when getting changed at trail centers and it was pretty relible to boot. I’d have another tomorrow.

I used Mono Minis for many years and I was always happy with them. I use SLX now and they are much, much better.
