Easy spinning up the hills and some speed on the flats. Similar to 2×9 but more up to date. I can’t say I’ve missed not having a 42 tooth ring.

I know it’s no help to you, but my Team ST was one of the nicest handling bikes I ever had. I wish you luck and please post a pic if you get one.

The Campaign is a favourite of Mrs Beaker and I. It sums up American politics beautifuly.

I didn’t have warranty issues with either of the Ibis frames I owned, but when I emailed Ibis for help I got replies of Scot Nichol himself.

If you have the FB app check it doesn’t have access to your microphone. Mrs Beaker and I had noticed the odd thing from a conversation we’d had appear on ads. We turned off access after Mrs Beaker had her phone next us during a conversation about her broken handbag, and had mentioned she was going to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. Lo and behold adverts for said handbag company all over her FB. She hadn’t googled or anything like that, it could only be that FB was listening.

I live 20 mins west of Stonehenge. Salisbury is nice,+1 for the Cathedral. Stourhead is well worth a visit especially in autumn. Should you find yourself passing Hindon I can heartily recommend both pubs in the village….

I went out today around Shearwater and the surrounding woods and it’s pretty wet on the ground. I look forward to the summer and dry trails and a dusty bike…. Enjoy your weekend!

I cut my teeth riding around Longleat and Warminster, it’ll be muddy up there! Still the weather for the rest of the week is dry so it may drain a little. I’m only 15 mins drive from Shearwater, if I’m free and can get out I’ll let you know on this thread. Good luck for Sunday!

Good point about strapping to the bars, I should’ve mentioned it’d be for on the road bike more than the mountain bike, but thinking about it perhaps it’s best in a pocket. I’ll have a look at lifeproof though.

I build very slowly, got several aircraft on the go- none of them are airfix though. This is the last kit I finished. A Hasegawa 1/48 Hurricane.

I’m in the same boat. I’m incredibly lucky to have a nice mountain and road bike in the garage but no real desire to ride them. The full sus was last ridden in June at Mayhem and I’ve not ridden it since. I rode the road bike a couple of weeks ago but I’ve not ridden since. I’ve just come out of a pretty poor 18months at work which killed all of my interest in getting out. I’m in a new position and I’m much happier at work and at home, but I find going for a ride an effort. I’ve booked a weekend in north wales next summer and need to train but it’s getting my head back into it I find hard.

I’ve booked 10 of us for a weekend here[/url]. We’ve not stayed before but it has been recommended. They can do fully catered or self catered.

I’m always happy to donate to RBL. I was very much in favour of H4H until I had a conversation with a squaddie that had a friend that who had a poor experience with them. They were good at big projects but not so good at one to one. That said my money goes to Combat Stress or BLESMA.

I’ve never faced any of the frames that I’ve built up. Never had any issues with BB’s or disc brakes. Build it up, I reckon you’ll be fine.

If in doubt play it safe. I wasn’t sure about my BM speech and was right up until the father of the bride speech I was in two minds about doing something PC off the top of my head. I’d contacted the grooms Facebook friends for amusing stories and received no replies which I know there were bound to be. I did the speech and the look the groom gave me halfway said he wasn’t amused and then at the end of it I went over to them both to be told by the bride that I’d ruined her day…… Everyone else thought the speech was amusing and ok but to the Bride and Groom it had gone too far.

I once went to a wedding where the BM opened saying something about “if you want the dirt on the groom and the good stories I’ll be at the bar after”. He gave a great speech afterwards without upsetting anyone….

My old Voodoo Wanga was a similar red. It looked really good when clean but you only had to look at it to put a chip in it.

Is it not a case of if you weren’t there you don’t get it? I was at school in the early nineties when I started biking. I’d read MBUK, MBI and some American mag I forget the name of now, but I’d lust after exotica that I’d never afford then and to be fair can’t now. If I could afford to now I’d have a Merlin Ti frame and Grafton brakes or a Klein Adroit in a heart beat. These are the bikes I wanted then and still do now for reasons only known to me. I know they wouldn’t be as capable as today’s bikes but that’s not the point, I want them just because.

People pay a fortune for old things. Why spend a fortune on buying an old aeroplane like a Warbird when you can buy something newer? There’s no logic to it really, but to someone it’s what makes life interesting. I don’t think pretentiousness even comes into it.

@Tang- Any updates on the course conditions?
