IMG_6196That Feather up there is gorgeous! I hope the owner has many long and happy rides on it….

This is my Isen Classic Road. Chosen because I wanted a traditional looking skinny tubed road bike but with modern components. I especially love the paint, it looks like sunset at the moment just before it is dark.

It’s not the lightest and it’s not the fastest but that doesn’t matter to me. You probably don’t like what parts I’ve got on it. It is, however, mine. It makes me smile every time I see it and I love riding it. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

I owned a 99 Super V 1000sl which was a great bike. I also ended up buying a mk1 Scalpel (off the old FS forum on here!), the one with the pivotless carbon chain stay. It was a superb bike light, well handling and from an era when Cannondale were really pushing frame design. I’m tempted to get another but they do seem to hold their value.

The RAF coppers at Bastion didn’t notice my folding lock knife in my hold luggage when I checked in first time around. Obviously the flight was cancelled, so I had to check in the next night. When I checked in again they then found it, even though I hadn’t repacked the bag. I was a bit annoyed but much happier to be going home…

As a nineties mountain biker Kona were always an iconic brand to me. It’s  sad to see this happen but they aren’t the brand they were. I think I’ll keep my ‘95 Kilauea for the foreseeable…

My Psylo 99/00 model came with no oil in the lowers…. It was an ok fork otherwise. The marketing speak in this is press release is making me cringe.

I can recommend Auto Finesse’s drying towel over the Meguires yellow towel.

I loved my Maverick ML7, it was a brilliant bike…  Will read the rest of issue 001 tonight at work.

Previously I mentioned that I had a chain away for warranty investigation with SRAM. CRC hadnt heard anything and happily refunded me with a credit note. Big thanks to CRC for excellent customer service. I wish them all luck for the future.

I’ve got a chain going through warranty with CRC at the moment. Be interesting to see how it goes now…

Update… It looks like SRAM want the chain back to inspect before making a warranty decision. I’m a little surprised but will get it in the post. My Cotic will have to wait a bit longer to be ridden.

I’ve got NX on my bike, I got the groupset from CRC last year when it was on offer. It’s been ok so far but the shift from 2nd to first gear is noticeably stiffer, despite everything being checked over. I rode my other bike for the first time in ages last week and was amazed at how much lighter the SLX shifters were, I know what mech and shifters I’ll be buying at some point in the future….

I’ve looked at my Strava and I’ve only done 120 miles on this chain, and I’m not a hard rider. Not overly impressed to be honest. You can see the crack on the chain links below. I’ll have a look at X01 chains then, are Shimano 12 speed chains compatible? IMG_8272

I had a pair of Rock Shox Psylo U turns on the front of my SC Chameleon back in 2001, I think they were 100-130mm. I really liked them, being able to adjust the travel on a fork makes sense to me, I’m not sure why it stopped becoming a thing.

I read this thread yesterday and decided I needed to get out. I’ve not ridden in ages thanks to it being wet, grey and miserable. The weather today looked ok, no rain forecast so I got all my kit downstairs ready to go as soon as I was up. I was out on the bike by nine and almost as soon as I turned the pedals it started to rain. I had just less than an hour on the bike, it was very boggy in places and surprisingly well drained in others. It was great to be out, just me, the bike and wooded singletrack. Typically as soon as I got back to the car the rain stopped the sun came out. I think what I’m trying to say is the thought of getting out is almost always the worst bit. Try and get out if you can OP, if you’re down in the SW I’d be happy to pedal with you. D4B7EA52-89A1-49B7-AED9-1CE69A4C857E

So elbows aren’t happy, pour the kettle etc and it hurts. I’ve got a Renthal bar on the bike, it came off my full sus and has never given me issues previously, it’s just an average riser bar. I’ll have a look at more swept back bars, thanks for the offer @madbillmcmad but I’m way down south.

I’ll certainly look into exercising and strengthening after work tonight. My job is desk bound but in seven years I’ve not had any issues on my other bikes, I can only attribute it to the Cotic.

I’m pretty sure it’s only related to the bike position. I think the LLS position is too long and too low. The stem is a 35mm and its at the top of my steerer. My bars are 760mm wide and about 20mm rise, they’ve come off previous bikes and I’ve got on with them. An Epi Clasp may be something to look into. I’ll also stop using the brakes!

I stopped reading it years ago, other than a quick flick through in the news agent. I got a bit bored of being told that I needed at least a 150m full sus for riding around my local trails, the odd trail center and 24 hour races. Bring back MTB Pro!

I collected my ISEN Workshop frame  in April last year. By this May they’d gone under. I only found out after trying to sort a replacement rear mech hanger. I suspect there will be plenty more small companies going under in the near future

A group of us went there for a weekend of north wales riding. The whole route was wet. Water up to the pedals, long, wet grass and low hanging branches. We were all soaked and by the end of the ride one of us getting on for hypothermia. This was in July. Never again.

@daffy thank you for the compliment! That picture isn’t doing the paint justice really. It really does pop. The tan wall tyres give it a good retro aesthetic which appeals to me.

I saw the Korean Black Eagles last year at Fairford and I thought the were genuinely excellent, very different from the Reds. The Italian display team go for smoke on at the runway threshold which always looks impressive. FC1DEE21-E69F-4670-8BE9-724BEAD16C43

When ours had them we used Advantage flea treatment which was very quick and effective. We used Indorex spray on the carpets which was also very good. Good luck!
