Yep. 160mm rear only as above. I also don’t think they are compatible with RS685/RS785 but I haven’t a clue why and that is another thread I guess!

    Biketreks Ings definitely sell them.

Mud-dock in Bristol might too. Sure I saw some in there.

That’s seem counterintuitive to me. Surely it’d raise the BB meaning low setting would be betterer?

Yes. It would have helped if I had read the text. Too busy frothing at the mouth 🤪

Thanks Both. And a lovely looking bike Honorable George! I have an older Float X which I may try to get a retune and service on. That should be better than the DPS until I can pony up for an EXT.

If anyone is ever reading this thread in the future. Feel free to pop me a PM if you have an EXT or an X2 for sale in a size which will fit!

Four?!!! Hook a brother up! 😜

Must have my wires crossed with Paul’s emails then. Maybe he meant it I wanted 148mm travel.

Hmm. Very tempted with a new shock for my G13. I’m on a DPS, and appreciate it doesn’t fully unlock the bike’s potential.

What length EXT are people running on their G13s then? I thought the minimum was 197×57 for a long shock option in the V2. I think they don’t make a 190×51 in the V3 and it’d have to be 200×57 and offset bushes to try and bring everything back?

Love to try a genuine 190×57 shock but as Mojo don’t have fox, I guess it’s a non starter.

There was a Öhlins coil 190×51 for Sale on Pinkbike recently. For good money (300ish) very tempted but with so many stories about reliability in the earlier stuff it would just be a punt.

Also interested in trying a 190×51 X2. Anyone done that?

Cheers Lunge. Yeah. Would be PayPal. Thanks for that!

Yep. I’m trying to establish before a purchase too. Any news OP?

EDIT. Dropped an email and customer services got back within ten minutes. Hmm

I’m thinking of taking the plunge. I’d quite happily go for a more basic model, but I fancy something which will give me a six fig grid ref – it only seems Fenix 5/6 going to do that for me. Hmmm.

Jonswhite, or any other gurus. How are people getting 148mm from the G13? Long shocking with 190×57 shock? Where are you sourcing these shocks from? Slowly getting through the big thread, but no answers thus far!

Was hoping to do that to a new to me G13. Cheers in advance.

Same here. 3 dads out together whom I know from the local schools. One an NHS consultant. Hmmm.

Cheers all. Appreciated. I’ll start the search for new bits in earnest.

I’ve been a sram fan since XO back in 02 ish. Maybe time for a change 👍

I believe the baking/curing of the paint is the main concern – in aluminium bikes which can mess with the properties of the metal (Ali) after it originally being heat treated for strength. You have steel obvs so I’d be less worried.

I went for a soda/water blast on my last frame which turned out awesome and didn’t take any surface material away – no scratches or texturing.

I’ve gone Box 2 this time. Made by Sunrace but on paper (!) is lighter. They are a bit more expensive but you can find them for same price if you shop around.

Not fitted, but hopeful of Sunrace type performance which I’ve been well pleased with in the past.

Agree on the fact it can depend on a number of factors. Even summer/winter riding for me too as my speeds are slower during winter.

However, I was a serial rim-dinger with anything but DD (on the rear) and convinced I needed it too.

Turns out I’ve lost rotational weight, gained sidewalk compliance/feel and added rim protection. Happily run the pressures I want to run too. Without worrying.

Ps. EXO big difference in durability to EXO+ for VERY little weight difference.

    I’d echo wheels/tyres.

I was a DD convert, but tried the new EXO+ and haven’t noticed much difference in durability at all. But have noticed the lighter weight massively. I use a rimpact strip with them too.

So, I’d suggest exo or exo+ tyres with a light rim strip. I’m a massive fan of rimpact for cost/weight/durability. 👍

Getting a tad worried now. My 77 year old mum is in Hospital (and has been for 6 weeks) awaiting urgent triple bypass surgery. Finally due to go for surgery today and hospital appears to be in lockdown after a suspected case came in, wandered around the hospital first (to M&S food and cafe according to nurse) then A&E. ‘Cancelled’ operation at this stage, she’s still nill by mouth though 🤷‍♀️. If that is the case, I do seriously wander how stupid some people are though. The handful of people I’ve seen not washing their hands in the HOSPITAL toilets in the last few weeks is also crazy.

    Slight thread hijack….

Big thanks to Markie for highlighting those Magura calipers! What does the hive mind reckon about being compatible with Shimano road levers? They do appear to be available separately.

I may have some leaky Shimano ones. Hope would have been the answer but my frame requires 140mm max rear.

Yes Binners. On a very similar note (but a bit more sweaty) to the Adam Buxton Podcast interview (Ep 74).

Oh. I understood they are filming season 3?

I’ve downloaded them onto my 76 year old Mum’s iPlayer app. She’s sat in hospital awaiting triple bypass. She had a perplexed look when I described the premise of the show (the same look I used to get when I’d be watching recorded episodes of big night out)

She’s flown through two seasons already and it’s seriously helped her keeping upbeat. Cheers Bob. I’ll buy a cat name from you one day.

Have a look at Guerilla Gravity. Their solution looks tidy on their latest carbon frames.

Knolly Warden – looked at all the numbers. Went round in circles and borrowed then bought a mates spare fork. Bike designed around 150mm or 160mm 27.5 fork and has adjustable geo. I previously ran 160 and alternated between slack/steep setting. Now run it slack and lower BB position, gone to a 150mm 29er fork with different offset, slammed stem. And also chatted to Knolly. It feels great and makes me feel more of a man. Happy I gave it a go. My main bike now.

Totally recommend race Face Agent. Stretch, waterproof, comfortable, minimum noise, doesn’t feel like you are wearing waterproofs, and on sale at treads.

Gutted cos I paid a fortune for mine when RF said they had no Europe stock.

Interesting ya. Did have a peep online, and noticed the missing sign and also the boards just through the entrance. Not sure when that was taken though! Or what was just inside that gate.

    Cheers Both,

Big black – yes, appreciate that massively, but don’t go out of your way. After reading up a bit Parking Eye haven’t done it exactly by the book either. I’ll be popping the owners a line with a semi-begging letter. I did call and as soon as I mentioned parking – the line went dead! Called back and got me a much more assertive chap who agreed with the proportionality of the fine and said I wasn’t a customer. Thanks for that!!!!

I usually coat the sides of the rubber end of the valve in Vaseline lip balm.

Mrs Beagle has shouted at me once or twice. Solved the same issue for me.

Try NFU. Sent them all the conversion docs – especially for the seat fitting. Expected a higher premium. They just sent me a new schedule and thanked me for letting them know (in 2012).

Got up it and Wrynose on a compact road set up on the C2C in a day. Obviously early on in he day. Doubt I would have after a ton already in my legs like they do on the Fred W. Fair play to those that do.

Kind of agree with that Mike Especially as they have/will sell off the municiple course for this project. My annoyance with it is the potential environmental impact.
