Thanks both.  Food for thought. I was looking at about £30 for the ant+ and the longer cable? Sigma have the direct connect for £63.  I have a v5 Kickr which seems compatible. I think

Wood pigeon. Is my guess. Defo sound like ours in the garden.  Any perch/branches directly above?

Stay west of the A624. Either a loop of Lantern pike – Sett Valley Trail to Birch Vale. Up to Wethercotes and stay on the farm track to the split with the descent to Rowarth. Take the right fork towards the junction above blackshaw farm. Then take the pennine bridleway to the east of lantern pike all the way back to birch vale. Then back along the sett valley to hayfield or jump on the A6015 west for about 300 metres then take the steep tarmac road up past the quarry which turns into a RUPP/BOAT(keeping the quarry on your left). Keep going south past moor lodge and the junction with Laneside road, this turns into OverHill road. Take a sharp left up steep bridleway just before throstle bank. Keep going straight at the junction with new allotments. The next bridleway junction you have a few options to drop down to hayfield. Easy would be right/east down to peep o day. Straight on is a fast grassy descent, then right down the little bit rocky, steep descent into foxholes clough (most fun option), or you could stay left past the tv mast, down the bridleway back to birch vale and the sett valley trail again. Big brain dump, sorry. All old school XC type stuff.

EDIT: mine was 11 speed and the kits weren’t available or super expensive

Nice! Lovely machine. What’s the air can on the old bike? Looks interesting.

Nice one Stanley. It’s a stunning bike. I have a Definition to keep my mtb fitness ticking over when I’m short of time. Really nice finish.

I’ll be sure to wave if I see you (grew up in Marple, often tie an mtb ride that way with a welfare check on the olds)

    Enjoy it!

How did it handle the descent down to Rowarth? 😀

Yep. This week. Renewal. Photo done electronically at the post office. Application electronically. Posted old one off and passport dropped through letterbox within 6 days (inc weekend). Still picking myself up off the floor.

Thanks for all for wisdom here 🙏 and my thoughts for anyone in similar situations. I’m right in the thick of things at the moment. Thanks for the reminder to take time for yourself and those around you. Feel like I’ve not been a husband/father this week to my two wee girls with one parent at home with early dementia and the other in hospital. Work/Hospital/Home Visit/home to (barely) sleep then rinse and repeat for the last 8 days, just firefighting and not sorting the list of things I need to get my head around.

POAs in place, but a long list of things to sort immediately. How easy is it to action the POA with banks etc? Do they need original copies in the post? Certified copies?

Tim at Fearless Bikes has a few larger Warlocks left in stock. He has new stuff in the pipeline.

Mine is doing a similar job to what you’re looking for. Good value IMO and with all the mounts. Ran mine 650×2.2 and currently 700×50. Hopefully going back to 650 this year.

I had similar. My DOB was incorrect on one of four applications after taking ages to confirm them being registered. Solicitors suggested a new one. We decided the last thing we want when actually needing to use them would be questions raised – small cost for a fresh one in the grand scheme of things (unless time critical?). I remember them taking 8-12 weeks to process.

We’re undertaking a similar ish project on a link detached house. Essentially bring garage forward, extending entrance hall and bedroom above garage. Local architect done plans advised on planning – we are just tweaking design. He’s old school so just paper drawings, I’d love to have some digital images like those.

Good luck with the house 🙌

Try some Gramicci if you have thick thighs. Very comfortable. Depends on your styling needs.

Thanks All. That gives me something to go at 👍 really appreciate the responses.

Probably have a gravelly bike with us too I could pop out on. That may be the best option from the door perhaps?

Stif Morf too. Non boost and 30.9mm 👍 a little more LLS.

If going non boost consider an older orange p7 or crush. I’m not an orange fan boi but I had a 2017/8 p7 and it was a great bike. Can be had pretty cheap. Wasn’t there a crush on the classifieds for £100?!!

Posted a PSA on here a couple of days ago. Perhaps I need to work on the title on my threads 😳 Very scary and utterly pants.

Think Leo had a lead according to his instagram account. Hopefully some proper police work ongoing as suggested in the article.

I’d heard of the first one, but did have a solo mtb ride starting in Marple on Friday. It was a ‘one off’ in my head. Second time, not so.

I really hope the police are treating this with the seriousness which it deserves, rather than generic bike theft. Especially with recent tragic events in fallowfield (admittedly further afield).

Yes. Big fan of Patagonia. Just dropped an item off yesterday for free repair 🙌

Re TK Maxx/Decathlon – set up are those kind of prices. Rider owned, Derbyshire company. Im not associated, but a fan of their jerseys and casual Ts. £20 for mtb jersey.

Give Setup Brand a go. Big choice of colours/designs for a pretty top price. I have 2 s/s and L/s and They’re great for what you are paying.

Had similar with a dura ace crank. Known issue, Shimano ignoring it despite the new range actually being marketed as solving the issue. Grey import, retailer doesn’t want to know. I’ve badgered Madison constantly and they suggested I send it back to then via an LBS. I’ve just got to find a localish dealer who doesn’t mind me wandering in and asking them to send it in to Madison when I haven’t bought it from them.

Similar issues in recent years with XT wandering bite point, Leaky XT master cylinder, leaky deore caliper, leaky 785 calipers, leaky GRX caliper to add to Dura Ace issue. Thanks Shimano.

Difficult one really. Fast rolling and tough I’d be looking at a slaughter grid if you like spesh tyres – likely won’t slow you down well, especially on welsh terrain. Or similar from Schwalbe.

Maxxis Dissector is another option, exo plus or double down but I’ve found them not quite as fast rolling as I’d like. DD is maxx grip compound though.

I found a 27.5 high roller 2 in double down casing recently for £26 and used it as a stop gap on the mullet (rear obvs). It’s stayed on as the only thing it’s not perfect at is having loads of grip on steep, loose climbs. Doesn’t feel overly draggy. That was 2.3 also. Bit old school but it works well.

Edit: bit more now but there you go: https://sportandleisure.com/products/maxxis-high-roller-ii-3c-maxxterra-double-down-tr-folding-tyre-27-5-x-2-3?currency=GBP&variant=42314515120385&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgP3I69DN-QIVTLDtCh0T3QazEAQYASABEgJLZPD_BwE

Inserts may help but if it’s flint/stone knicks you are getting in the sidewall, they won’t help that.

I have a medium p7 (27.5) frame going. Cyan Blue. 2017 model. PM me if you like.

Great bikes and compares well with the Chromag hardtails I’ve had previously.

Have a google on line 👍 I noticed some of the bonding had come away and there were gaps joining the two halves of the crank together. Also noticed the start of small cracks

    What cranks?

Shimano Ultegra and Dura Ace can do this (changed the design in the very latest model). Essentially bonding coming apart which holds the two pieces of each arm together.

Classic clicking initially. I changed BBs, greased everything, swapped pedals and loads more until I removed the cranks and had a really good inspection.

Just about to pop a pair of Melon Kingpin frames on the classifieds. Frame only with drawstring bag. Worn once. I bought two pairs and the turquoise frame is a bit much for me*. I’ve liked both the alleycat and the kingpin.

    DM is interested

*actually isn’t an exact match for my nail varnish.

Thanks again all. Short shrift from Merlin today. I’ll maybe try Maddison on the off chance or phone Merlin. Thanks for the advice. When you buy the top end stuff I always used to be assured of it lasting. Had an XTR crank which saw years of reliable service.

The rotor crank looks like a good place to start for a replacement.

    Cheers!

Thanks both. Doesn’t look good reading that link. Mine was also from Merlin. Frustratingly, it’s been ticking/creaking for a long while now. Should have got myself into gear earlier in fault finding.

New crank I think 😬 Expensive error that!
