Remember Justa off this forum? He was worse than Hora but bought a Ventana and calmed down a bit. My guess is he’s waiting for Santa Cruz to offer the chameleon in 29er. He’ll have one and respray it Kawasaki green.

Well I’m going to use this powdercoater in Stockport if he isn’t!

I’m a few miles south of stockport, but pass up through lancs a lot, if there’s a decent one in/near Bury. Could always pop in the markets for some Xmas nuts and black pudding.

    Ta Hora.

Hora, I’m local and looking for ral 1026. Was about to drop it to somewhere I used down south, but from what you are saying, he doesn’t have any in?

I’m going to give this place a try I think!

Good timing with the thread mate!!

I thought 1026 was luminous/fluro? So like the yellow orange use?

Music from one of the top 3 albums ever, and one of my favourite artists for the last 20 years!!

I’ll buy it on that basis alone!!

nbt – keep your eyes on here – waxwing thread on that specific forum.

It seems to be a pretty good resource for local birds too. Though I won’t be hanging around Adswood tip any time soon!

Mistle Thrush. I’ve seen them in small flocks a fair bit, albeit not as much as redwing/ff.

I’m a Marple lad myself. Seen Waxwing in Hattersley, Salford and Wythenshaw!!

    Good film. I enjoyed it.

I’m V V V excited about the first Hobbit instalment. 3d & motion seats all booked the other week. Going with a pal, so I don’t get bombarded by questions throughout from mrs beagle :-)

If I had to live in Yorkshire, within striking distance of Manchester, I’d look at Whirlow/Dore area of Sheffield. I’d personally give West Yorkshire a miss.

Binners. I’m in south Manchester, and I think we share the same partner!

I’ve obviously cancelled this weekends trip to Afan though :-(

Lol at Binners. That’s where I’m at lad!!!

Tony – I sort of took it too fast. I tend to have a stack when I’m riding my best, and maybe take my eye off the ball. Similar to coming out of the woods at the end of mega qualifier, thinking about my time and finding myself in a heap!

Damn right about the slow speed stuff too. Dislocated knee from a real slow mincing off one too!

Pik – ta for the well wishes!

    Ooooouch.

The swelling is half the issue when I’ve done mine. It makes the joint feel really unstable and as if your patella is floating around. Ice, ice, baby, strong anti inflams and compression bandage.

Those pains sound normal to me. Very similar to my experiences as was the straightening reaction.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Be pushy if you don’t feel it’s right once the swelling has gone down though.

loamy23 at hotmail dot com if you have any questions down the line. Good luck Sir!

Was it out for a bit? Any other damage? Is it the first time it’s happened?

I have had my fair share of these, like a lot. And it’s almost always during times when I’m cycling/keeping fit the least. Range from a quick ‘in and out’ to full on being out for ages. Last one was at the megavalanche (in the quali) but that was a bad un’ with ligament damage and bone breakage. First one was playing cricket at 14. Lots inbetween – im 36 now.

I suppose it depends on the level of trauma, but If there is no damage, I’d be tempted to get it moving. Hang in there though and persist with any Physio, no matter how tedious. I’ve resigned myself to no twisty sports – squash, footy etc, concentrated strengthening them both up. Fortunately cycling is good, which is convenient.

It’s a pain in the ass, and there were times recently, after the bad one, when I doubted I’d be back the same. It does come, but I learnt not to put a timescale on it, in my head and expect too much, too soon.

    Good luck bud

Thanks both. Tried everything. No adjustment other than the roller. May try a cheap road tyre before I pay 30 notes for a turbo tyre!

    Hi Chris,

Fire me an email at loamy23 at hotmail dot com and I’ll fire some to you.

New version isn’t in the country yet and I think the build prices are on the uk website. Very good value for money on my book.

I’ve got an endorphin and it’s been great. I’ve ridden a fair few top end bikes and i would rate it up there with Ventana for build quality. They have moved production recently though. Mine may be up for sale soon, as I fancy one of the new frames as I fancy a change and love the climbing ability of the 4×4 system. Very grippy.

John at Shorelines distribution is Knolly UK and he’s a great guy as I’ve dealt with him over a number of Chromag bits before. He’s in Sheffield too, if that helps. If you have any specific questions let me know, but John would be your man!

Stayed at Vertigo before and after the refurb. Good location. Nice place with a bit of history. Bit spendy though? Stayed at the Phoenix too in a one night emergency in 2008. Great little place but slap in the middle of Tenderloin so taxi in and out may be a good idea ;-) and a definite at night time.

Also stayed at a whoppin’ place on Union Square. Think it may have been the Handlery? We got a very good Internet room only rate from them and it was good value for money, especially for the central location and the service we got.

What about Toboggan? Quite a climb, but that stands out with the ones listed above. Awesome stuff, which finished with a swim in the old Gravel pit to cool off!

Keep meaning to try the two in Poynton, but never got round to it!

I’d leave it to the end of the auction.

Ive always played by the rules but recently been shafted as a buyer. Not as described and no mention of what I consider pretty fundamental damage to the item. Seller doesn’t want to know and says it was visible in the photos, despite the description saying ‘hardly used’.

    What’s the disputes process like?

Could be a stupid question. …what time of day were you looking :-)?

Assuming you’ve gone at dusk, I’ve found a direct correlation between their activity and the light being absent just enough so I can’t get a good look at the blighters!!!! They seem to show later than I expect when I’ve gone searching.

You may be onto something with the weather though? I’m no expert though.

Keep us posted with any sightings!

Another + 1 for Ventana, for the reasons above and a lot more. Their customer service is on the money both from the UK and from Sherwood himself. The only thing they fall short on is marketing – ie not trying hard to tell everyone how rad they are. They just keep doing what they do quietly and investing in that instead. Owned two in the past and none now, which is a shame :-(

To relate to the original question, Ventana IS precision engineering.

Otherwise, I’d be looking at a spesh stumpy carbon evo or the new knolly endorphin (or waiting longer for the carbon sl version).

They usually book up well in advance though!

I was too slow one year and I was recommended Powder and Dust. They are locals and good friends with BV and know the remote trails. Great honest/fun people too.

Because the marketing is based on success and is in someway earned?

I’d rather select someone for promotion based on their performance, success in the role, and how good they have been exploiting that success on the application form, rather than the twunt who gets the job cos he plays golf with one of the directors.

I think it’s been a massive achievement for AFC getting the stadium built and them in the position they are. It’s sensible and derserves credit. Thing is, the game isn’t sensible anymore and demands instant success with money being thrown left right and centre which doesn’t always work.

Little story from last year. I was in a hotel lobby in London and City were staying there. Mancini and a few of his fellow Italians were chatting and Mancini signing the odd autograph/photo. He seems a nice guy to be fair. This middle aged lady then goes over and asks for a photo, Mancini obliges with a smile. As she walks back towards her husband, clearly audible to everyone, she says to her husband “oh my god, who was that?”. Que eye roll from Mancini and lots of banter /piss taking from his mates.

City fans worshipping Tevez now are they? Hmmm. Nice.

There has been a fair few classless things coming from that end of town since the ‘new money’ arrived. Say what u want about United, but the money has mostly been earned – gate receipts/big sponsorships/tv money mostly because of success, history of the club and the world wide name. They’ve never got to the stage where they have bought players wholsesale to stop other teams from having them, which Chelsea and City have. Chelsea is relevant cos people predicted United’s demise back then too. Both City and Chelsea would most likely not be in the top flight/solvent without a sugar daddy.

United did well this year with what they had, an achievement to finish level on points against all that quality. At least we didn’t finish with less points than our neighbours or 36 points off the pace. Loddick?

As for Fegies comments being ungracious – its been what Mancini has been saying all year himself!!
