    Number 55.

    Boomerang.

Bumper broke circa 10 seconds into first ever Christmas day usage. Gutted.

I have similar cravings. For my wee nephews of course………

I’d wash that bad boy down with a pint of PBR. Especially given the possible location 8O

I had birds of the feathered variety whilst Mrs Beagle was away this weekend. I know, boring. Walking at my own pace, binos round my neck, stopping and listening when I wanted to with nothing but silence and occasional birdsong.

Water Rail, Little Egret, Hen Harrier, Short Eared Owl, Black Tailed Godwit and a buzzard chewing on a frog were the highlights yesterday.

Resembling a yellow pages/French polishing advert at the moment in Chez Beagle. Strange how it resembles a bomb site in 48 hours!!

Good luck with the cleaning up lads.

I’ve gone the same route with the velle seats. About to sort a multiflex for summer – had a chat with Andy at Wickedvanz re the supports – he’s using VW parts to lock into the rails. Well cheaper than the multiflex too.

As above and also that nearly all of the sub £100 grinders don’t grind fine enough for real expresso machine use. Fine if u are using them for filter use though.

Keano just disagrees with anything Southgate or AC says nowadays! I’ve seriously thought he was going to slap them in recent punditry. Saw Southgate in Brum the other week and nearly went over and mentioned it to him! He was having his breakfast at the time and thought better of it.

Difference being the player came from behind him and last time I checked humans don’t have eyes in the back of their head. He’s gone to control a high ball. No chance red and it was nice to see Ramos chit chatting to the ref when nani was down.

I saw a short eared owl nearby (ish) recently and in the day. Ideal habitat on the outskirts of glossop too. Dark patches on the wing also. The thing that always hits me is the length of their wings. Almost unmistakeable. Surprising over the town if right though.

I agree about the sparrowhawk at height comment, I’ve had the odd sighting quite high recently, when all I ever used to see was them bombing around over the garden fence etc, which is usually how/when I’ve always seen them.

You don’t say anything about size? I’m guessing you had no reference point.

The thing I’d therefore rely on, is wing beat or the way it was flying. Contrary to what count zero says, sparrow hawks have fat, wide wings. I’d say sparrow hawk is most likely, especially if it seemed to be actively hunting rather than soaring about having fun or just passing over.

Chad at Red Barn Bikes’ blog. It’s ace. Nice smattering of fun times, adventure, bike bling, coffee, beer etc. He’s a top bloke to deal with too.

Nice bit of fat bike action recently in his native Montana and a trip to the fat bike summit in Idaho.

No help here either. But if u like nature/learning about local culture, I can recommend Bali Bird Walks, followed by an inclusive meal in Murni’s Warong afterwards. Awesome day out followed by a lovely veg curry and rice washed down with an ice cold Bintang. Not just for bird watchers either, Mrs Beagle loved it.

Defo post up any riding photos though! Enjoy!!

I have a REAL thing about Royles in Wilmslow. They’ve annoyed me soooo many times in the past, I’d rather miss out on a ride than go in for a small part. Stopped using them 3 years ago or more.

It’s a bikeshop for MAMILs, who’ve had a mid life crisis and want a full carbon road bike. It’s everything a bike shop shouldn’t be IMO.

    Those shoes aren’t very good.

They were great at first, out of the box like, but then i tried to take some inner stitching out to get a better fit , then custom trim the rubber sole for better grip. Oh, then I used some bathroom sealant round to toes to improve waterproof ability.

Bloody things fell apart then ;-)

    Distributor didn’t want to know!!

Did Bali for a honeymoon last year. Flights with Qatar from Manchester, resulted in an a 1 hour 40 change in Doha, and a brief leg stretch in Singapore, so not too much faff. Cheap too.

Didn’t want a fortnight at the same resort, especially if it was in the busier south. Thus stayed 5 nights in the semi jungle outside Ubud in a luxury resort, then 5 nights in a spa resort on the north coast. Both truly amazing! Then down to the south for the last few days. I’d recommend seeing more of the island, as the south was very busy. The
Spa resort and ubud were one offs for us, as we’ll be camping in the UK for the foreseeable, but it was very good value for money for the standard of accommodation/levels of service we had.

The people were lovely and even more so when you tried your Balinese on them. Could do with a 100 minute massage right now!

Hans Wegner Papa bear chair. And fails to see my need for one!

In fact we tend to disagree with most design related house stuff and I’m not a everything clinical, monotone type of bloke either. Nice art is included in that although we do have a tad more common ground. Except I want mountains in any landscapes and Mrs Beagle likes sea!!

Wl – Stayed with Powder & Dust then? Strange comments as they found & built trails with/rode with/good friends with Lucy & Phil.

Both quality set ups IMO and I’d love to get out there again!

Don’t forget Powder and Dust if BV are booked up – very likely. I first got put in touch (by Lucy) with them when BV were full. Same deal, with a relaxed, fun, Scandi vibe.

Verbier is awesome. The only thing I missed was the odd flat out section/air/berm fest. But it’s head and shoulders above morzine. REAL mountain biking in my opinion. But there’s similar ish riding to be had in PDS if you venture out a tad.

Weather was often better in Verbier too. Except a Barmy 2002 dust fest in Morzine.

My (1st gen) endorphin has been really reliable and ive had no hassle from the linkages. Built very well.

Like the 5 and I tested one a while back. Nice. However, if I was buying, I’d look at the Ventana El Ciclon. Good value, even better build quality than the knolly, semi custom options for little £. Owned two V’s, both bombproof, well built with great customer support.

    My tuppence. :P

Thanks Guys. I have some, but not all those tools….

Nicko, thanks for that. Great idea. Could have a go, or even pay for someone to do the bits round the chimney breast. Hmmm. Off to measure again!

Mrs Beagle and I have a great relationship, I’m a lucky man. However this boils my P!!S. especially after spending a small fortune on a nice bathroom and downstairs loo. I can understand a few bits of different stuff, but in some cases 5 or 6 jumbo bottles/jars/tubes/vessels of the same stuff. Aaarrrgh!

Last night she thought it would be nice to have a little table on the (already small) landing. I refused point blank saying it’d just be another space for clutter. Her friends are the main culprits, buying each other tat for b’days/Xmas which has some kind of sentimental value and never gets used.

Quite frustrating when I am ruthless and get rid of my own stuff I don’t use.

Get her one of conran/M&S little books – there’s one on storage, one on small spaces. Nice cheap book, that’s a good read and some of the facts she’s better reading herself rather than being lectured at!!

If there’s room on the bookshelf. :-)

As far as I’m concerned it’s directional signage ‘exit/no entry’ placed by the store
or owners of the car park. From what I understand, it was requested as all the parents would park there at school kicking out time and havoc ensued with reversing 4x4s going in both directions through a car park which can hold 20-25 cars tops.

The sign isn’t one in the highway code, if that helps.

Off to bed. Had too many lectures today!

As I said, the paint has been down 2 months, if that.

The side road is a public road, from which you turn off into the car park. Simples.

I don’t have a halo, like some Zilog

Edit – and if it had have been a sign I was legally obliged to comply with, I would have 3 point turned, done 3 sides of a square and gone in the correct way!

I admitted, apologised and explained the directional signs/paint had only recently been put down by the co-op. fair cop, but I didn’t expect a uniformed officer to infer that he was going to find something to do me for regardless, unless I kissed his ass.
