Know the dishwasher in the crown very well Bunnyhop. Assuming its the same one from the early/mid nineties. Worked in the kitchen as my Saturday job. Saw it was being refurbed recently. Robinsons seem to be doing this a lot recently!!

It’s a famous roadie caff stop innit? With 10k bikes sat in the rack outside belonging to the mamils of Cheshire, what kind of butty were expecting?!!

We met our southern friends off the motorway there when they came to us for a weekend visit. We happily consumed a rather large picnic in the grounds Harry (mostly pork/pastry based) the quality of which was debriefed at opposite ends of the field via the parabolic dish set up. Excellent!

I let myself down on the way out and bought four brews though

Crank bros headsets were lowest IIRC. May still be some

Gah! That commencal was the first choice but couldn’t justify double the price! Couldn’t see any uk stock either.

    Looks awesome!!

    Thanks chaps. Some good suggestions.

Come on flashy….are you sure that’s not yours? You like your Spesh don’t you?!!

Like the seatpost idea. Off to the garage later to have a rummage around and inspect the new purchase.

    Keep them coming though ta.

Mrs Beag insisted on Strawbery Milkshakes – something she wouldn’t have touched previously and won’t now.

Been wondering recently we should really get round to having version 2 before all the nesquik goes out of date.

If u are in Ubud and like natural history. Try Bali Bird walks. One of the highlights of our trip! Su was a brilliant host, good fun, knowledgable and also gave us a huge insight into the lives of locals, explaining the culture etc. lovely curry afterwards and a cold bintang. Awesome!

    Where are you staying?

All good for me. Sent me a six bolt hub by accident. Sorted it real quick and great comms too.

Talk about not living up to forum name!

I moved to a longer bike with 650b. Did find it harder at first! Natural stuff before settling into new bike geo/feel. More practice/bigger weight shifting than what you may feel comfortable with (old bikes balance point is your current feel).

Be careful with the colours if silestone. We got a large sample rather than a little swatch and carried it around whilst choosing all the other kitchen bits. Worktops fitted, that night we thought it looked lighter than the swatch. It was the same code etc but massively lighter (was already light – blanco norte ).

MD of the company came round and agreed – replaced a fortnight later after a search for an older batch – apparently silestone lightened up their whole range without notice.

5 months in and we are really happy with the product. We had it on an an L shape (inc sink and hob) and a big island of Formica laminated birch ply. Which I’m even more pleased with, but wouldn’t want near heat/water!

And another studs up lunge later on which actually brought about a card too. Again, knew exactly what he was doing.

Brilliant. Big thanks to all. Definitely making the trip to Old Hall Inn – whether it’s with the whole gang this week, we’ll see. That’ll be good for a night with Mrs B as it’s fairly close by! :D

Cheers All. Will post an update next week. Old Hall in has been on the radar for a bit, so give that a try after having a look at the others on line.

Been past Fox House lots and thought it looked nice.

Anyone been to Cricket Inn near Dore? Or the wee farm at Whirlow?

    Cheers all. Very much appreciated.

I’ve gone for a pair (!!) of novatech with centrelock (purely to use freeza rotor. Sad I know).

Any pics of your bike Simon? Didn’t u have rs685?

32 hole Simon? I’d rather not have a rim change too!!

    beagle

Yes Matt. It’s an option for me.

I’m only using cheapo XT centre lock hubs, so could pick up the equivalent hub fairy cheap and go the whole hog

    Thanks All.

Guess it’s time to bite the bullet. That 105 group looks good. Off to check the specs on the STIs v 685s.

HH. Ta for the link. That looks like an option. Plus chain I guess, and front rings?

    And again!

I had a pair of Candies on my mtb in 2004. They are still going strong on my cx/commuter to this day!

Same trails/all day trips back in late 00s. I’m pretty sure Arska and Jonas used to go out building/scoping trails with Phil.

Top chaps, laid back fun with attention to detail for their guests.

Agree but then disagree if Powder and Dust are still around. Those boys rock!

Phil and Lucy used to recommend them if they were full.

Meanwhile Stockport buy Stockport County FC’s ground to stop them losing it, after previously lending them cash so the club could stay afloat. I do wonder what the interest rate was. At the same time cuts have been made to social services and families with severely disabled children are past the breaking point. Hello? Priorities?

They’ll also pay contractors to resurface/skim over pavements weeks before the elections, in the nicer parts of the borough,(not needed thanks). Oh, and whilst we are on an mtb forum, they widened, flattened and covered some nice bridleways in road planings, making them worst for all users concerned and generated more user conflict with public money.

The latter I can just about stomach, the former boils my piss!

Awesome frame. I’ve seen them with 650b tyres in as they were designed to take whopping 2.5s in whistler.

    Versatile frame which won’t break.

Thanks for posting Charlie. Can all those posting negative/disrespectful comments start a fresh thread or something?

Oh, and as for the comments re book marketing, Charlie dealt with something for me a few years back – something I absolutely expected to pay him for. He his own time and money and wouldn’t take a penny (or dime, in his case) from me. Any fool can see his original post comes from his seemingly bottomless supply of passion for our sport.

Local offi sells the Wlliams Bros stuff. Really nice range. Especially like ‘Birds and Bees’ and joker IPA. The did a collaboration with Brooklyn Lager. That was interesting!

Take a look at the ion stuff. It’s really well made, v comfortable and the trail jerseys have 3 pockets at the rear, one of which is zipped, and quite roomy.

Shop around an u may find them pretty cheap (20-30 quid).

According to Zyro, the peak isn’t replaceable on the super 2. For a cracked peak done in the van I’ve been told to go down the crash replacement program.

    How utterly ridiculous!!

Smashed my peak. Apols for the hijack, but do we know if peaks are available as a replacement item? Where best for spares like this?

Cheers All. Much appreciated. I may leave it be. Never considered the warping issue if routed/cut out. I may have to reconsider the leg support then and choose something sturdier. I just ordered it in the same spec as the island thickness. Probably didn’t consider how heavy it’d be!

Any cheap steel leg suggestions?!! :(
