Well the Nokia BH-505’s arrived yesterday. Initial thoughts were they look quite nice pretty comfortable for me with the standard in ear buds. Though they were a bit bass heavy and lacking in a little top but not too bad sounding.

Went to the gym and did 1hr on a cross trainer with them on. Started to get a bit sweaty and about 40minutes in the buttons stopped working on them. After an hour I finished and tried switching them off, they would not turn off. Got home and they had switched themselves off ( I guess as they were not connected by BT any more) now they wont switch on and I don’t get a charge light when I plug them in :-(

So a bit disappointed as they were really comfy and it was great not having any wires.

So not sure if I had a duff pair or I have the most deadly sweat in the world.

I never snowplough never felt natural at all to me either.

It gets a lot better and it does not feel like your skis are fighting each other once they are parallel.

Do you really mean a VPN or do you just want to have two IP addresses associated with one Ethernet adaptor ?

If its just multiple IP addresss then yes you can and you can set it to route to another gateway etc.

If you select properties of the ehternet card then TCP/IP, then advanced its on that tab.

    Hope this helps.

I have ordered the Nokia’s though I had to pay £36 rather than £30

Looking forward to not having any wires :-)

Its good to know that as some people don’t really car what things sound like :-)

The Nokia’s sound like they are worth a punt even if its only until there is a better selection of headphones out there.

I have two different sized ear canals, do they come with various size foams etc ?

Also have you tried running/exercising in them ?

I like the form factor of the Nokia’s but how do they sound.

I think the normal white ipod headphones sound rubbish are they better than that ?

I have been looking at that too and thought about getting one and another decent pair of headphones.

What phone/MP3 player are you using it with ? Do all the buttons work etc ?

I have a Sunday, but I am guessing you would not want to pedal that around a trail.

Handles great, very low bottom bracket which is good for handling but bad when you catch a pedal and it spits you off :-)

So. Do I need to bring anything with me in particular? Thinking footwear. Usually wear my trainers to the gym/classes. Would something a bit more firm soled be suitable?

Some have pedals that will take an SPD cleat.

I used to really enjoy spining at my old gym. Good music and the instructor was real good. Good at motivating and made it fun.

New gym is crap music and I think its a bit flat.

LHS did you deploy your ABS in the slide ?

This is a bit of kit I am considering.

Try skiing some less steep (below 28deg) where you know it cant slide. See if your love for it comes back and is enough to drive you forward.

Bottom line is skiing off piste carries a danger of death and this year has been a bad year in some resorts.

I was assuming maybe wrongly that he was equipped and trained !!!

How big was the slide ?

Were you doing something you should not have been ? If that is the case then ski “safer” pitches.

Or just get out on piste for a bit and enjoy that for a bit. There is naff all snow about at the moment and when the snow comes the depth hoar is going to probably cause problems. So just enjoy the pistes for a bit.

How much skiing have you done or do ?

Nearly bought one. It was was a car for the wife.

    Test drove a
    RX8
    350Z
    S2000
    SLK 350

The RX8 I felt was the best handling car of all of them, but I was underwhelmed by the engine.

I preferred the 350Z out of all of them the wife liked the SLK and that is what she bought. Though I know she almost regretted not going for the RX8

every year/meeting i try and do that…i think the bottom line is i dont spend enough….

Could you not team up with other business’s in your position to form a buying cooperative? I think LBS’s need to start thinking out of the box a bit.

You can’t compete on price and the customers don’t want to pay for your “service” you need to look at other ways to add value that the customer will pay for.

The end of the day its a business which mean adapt or die, in the capitalist world we live in.

    Interesting

My server at the moment is an Acer Easystore, which is an Atom based NAS running Windows Home server. Interesting this replaced the Acer Revo (single core version) which is now down stairs connected to my TV.

So Ideally I would like to run the server on the easystore. WHS is based on Windows Server 2003.

My other option is for a pair of A5’s like this

    http://www.audioengine.org.uk/

With an Apple Airport and run Airfoil to get the audio from spotify.

This is a slightly more expensive route but probably better quality sound.

Would be interested in alternatives to the airport as well.

fructose is converted into glycerol phosphate rather easily which has implications for fat storage

That is interesting so are they only low GI because of the relative low calorie density ?

I am actually interested in this as my snack food is currently a bag fo Clementines :-)

yeah and no fruit, it causes an unhelpful insulin response.

How so as most fruit has a low GI ?

Had a lower widsom tooth out last week at the dentist.

Numbed me up good an proper, did not feel a things when he was taking it out. I just made some nasty crunching noises.

Hurt like hell with the injection wore off. Next day was tender but was fine after that.

I just have a large hole in my gum at the moment now !!

The mantra is “if you spin both feet in” ie brake and clutch, but thats generally when there is no chance of saving it :-) In this case though clutch in is generally to stop killing the engine if you end up going backwards and driving it round the wrong way.

Skid pan courses are good fun but pick a good one as some are a bit pants. That said you need to do it a lot for it to become second nature.

What car are you driving ?

    bazzer
    Free Member

You are probably giving some opposite lock (steering into the skid) which is the right thing. What you are doing is probably leaving it on too long. What should happen is you back end will go loose you will steer into it to correct. There will then be a sort of pause when the skid stops, its at this point you need to start unwinding the lock. Most people wait for the car to start pointing back in the direction before they start taking the lock off. This is too late and will lead to an over correction.

And also as come people have noted lifting off the gas can make things worse. I would not say give it large but staying on a neutral throttle, ie not accelerating and not slowing. This will mean you are not transferring weight to the front (braking/slowing) or rear (accelerating) so the car should be balanced.

Or I could be talking crap you decide :-)

In my experience discounts on new watches are pretty thin from authorised dealers

This is not what I have found. Not paid full price for 2 Speedmasters 1 Seamaster and 1 Tag F1

I am with Junkyard on this, do your homework companies house will have a lot of the information you need.

Its only fair your share of the pie reflects your contribution !!!

Too many people think that someone is doing them a favour by giving them a job its a mutually beneficial business relationship. You are selling your time and its supply and demand if there is a plentiful supply of people who can do your job you get paid less than if there is not.

I have a Seamaster Diver 300 automatic had it as a 40th birthday present and I love it. I wear it every day and its built like a brick poo house, so don’t tend to worry about damaging it.

I also have a older speedmaster automatic with a leather strap which I love but it is much more fragile and I always worried about damaging it.

Go for it I say, its a really nice wear everyday watch that still feels special.

Would live a Tag Monaco as well :-) , but would not wear it every day for the reasons above.

    Edit to add

    I have this one

    http://www.omegawatches.com/gents/seamaster/300-m-chrono-diver/22258000

It does not look as blue in real life. Well worth going to see them in the flesh and putting them on as you may change your mind. Also remember shops will deffo do a deal on price, you should not have to pay list for it.

    Any un-made bed could tell a story…

But it took Tracy Emins to make people think about that and thats why hers is special !!!!

Edited to clarify and to say I know you get that molegrips but I thought it made the point well.

I have a pair of Crud Road Racer 2’s on my road bike and they are OK. They do wobble a bit and the brushes can rub sometimes, but they do work.

I have been told the the MK2 version is better than the original though, so maybe some peoples experience were of the original.

I do remember taking them out of the packet and thinking they looked really rubbish though. But they do seem to be doing the job.

As I said, for me the risk/reward ratio of full on DH is too high. I accept for others in different personal situations it isn’t.

But you could injure yourself just as easy on technical XC descents or fast single track.

    That’s a good one!

Trolling or never done a full day descending on a bike.

After a full day on the DH course at Cwmcarn I have been more knackered than a couple of loops of the XC trail.

Costs are fixed by an large, LA funding is fixed – the only way of ensuring profitability is to increase private fees

Not entirely true TJ LA’s are not legally allowed to put a cap on the costs they will pay. They will tell you this but if you are persistent quote the law at them enough times threaten them with legal action they will pay more, but not before they try and get the family to top it up.

So its a case of those who are in a position to do the research get the best care and the vulnerable don’t.

Getting a FWD car to get its power down coming out of a corner is solving a problem that just does not exist in a RWD car and its normaly at the expense of making it do something else badly like reducing steering feel.

The laws of physics are with a RWD car and against a FWD car.

But this does not mean all FWD cars are dull some are not, but IMHO the best RWD car will always be more fun the than the best FWD car.

Cant say I would get a 1 series though, they are stupid money for such a small car

Thats a good thing small but still quite powerful and RWD. Why have a big barge if you don’t need the room.

Mate has a 130i with a LSD fitted and its a great road car. I had a go in it and it was excellent. Bit more power than the wifes 120d :-)

Another mate has a 135i and has just had it chipped to nearly 400BHP he is going to get an LSD :-)

Both fantastic well balanced cars that get the power down really well and have a great feel to them.
