I bought a second hand Hayter Harrier about 5-6 years ago and its been brilliant. Much better than all the electrics I had, they seemed to last a couple of years tops. Not having the cable is brilliant.

Down side is if you need to lift it anywhere its a 2 man job.

Last time someone bumped into the back of me midweek lunchtime I wasn’t asked where I was going by the insurance company.

I reversed into a post below the rear window level. I was asked where I was from and where I was going. That was about 2 years ago.

They will ask you where you have been and where your are going. So you will have to lie. So I guess it depends on if you are happy with that.

Surely you say to your employer that you don’t have a car available for work and its their problem ?

Some 2.5″ eSata drives can take power from usb but are connected for data via eSata.

I have an LG one that does just this.

Does anybody seriously believe that missing one or two weeks of school each year is really going to have a noticeable impact? … seeing as they’re already not at school for 12 weeks a year, plus ‘in-service training days’, plus other bank holidays..

But for those 12 weeks they are not missing out and falling behind.

What if that was the week they were taught something that is the base for lots of other things. For instance in maths what if that was the week they learnt the rules of algebra ( I know someone is going to say they don’t do that any more) They now can’t do anything that is built upon that.

Its a really competitive world out there and if your not already top of the class then surely you need all the help you can get.

You could ride a HT down the DH trail easily enough, but by the 10th run you are likely to be pretty knackered !!!

If you are getting a firm brake pedal witht eh front brake hoses clamped off then surely the master cylinder is fine and the issue is air in the front brakes?

    That would be my thoughts.

I would pressure bleed tapping the callipers to get rid of any bubbles sticking to the side.

If it pumps up firm then my guess is its still air rather than any seal issues.

Have you actually opened any of the bleed nipples or had the reservoir empty ? If not Cant see how air has got in ?

And then someone fits Brakes, when thay clearly have no idea what they’re doing, take it on a motorway at 70MPH plus!! Very Safe!

Thing is the OP identified there was an issue and is putting it right.I think that the issues the OP has had could quite easily have happened to a mechanic at in back street garage. All that would happen is they would have phoned him up and told him his master cylinder was faulty.

Maybe so, but it illegal to work on Gas related products without the relevant certification, cars cause more deaths a year than Gas related ones, so why not?? In the wrong unqualified hands a car can be a very dangerous animal!!

They kill lots of people because people are crap at driving them not fixing them.

Do you know how many people get ill from poor handling of meats ? I think we should ban everyone except chefs from cooking chickens !!!!!

Maybe take it to someone who actually knows that they are doing and not risk killing yourself/your family/other people? Just an idea.
Good call, there are far too many people out there who tinker with safety related items on cars, without knowing what they’re actually doing!!

Its a car not a Euro Fighter :-)

Surely if the brake pedal is not pushed when you wind the piston back the return port is open to the fluid reservoir and no pressure can build up to do any seal flipping ? Or am I missing something ?

I use crash plan for online backup, they offer various encryption options, including handling your own keys. Its encrypted at your machine and if you choose to handle your own keys then they have no way of decrypting the other end.

Also one of the cheapest services for unlimited storage.

Can’t recommend Flow MTB enough. Been with them a few times and always been happy with the quality of the accommodation and the food. It also helps that Sara and Guy who run it are really nice people too.

How are you bleeding the system ?

Modern ABS systems can have very specific bleed procedures. It often involves turning the key on and off to activate the abs valves etc.

Might be worth getting a manual or asking on a Vauxhual forum

Another vote for the Wingnut here.

I have one of the original Hyper 3.0’s had it a about 5 years and used it loads. Its starting to fall apart now but its had a hard life. Upsides are it is very comfortable and the side zip pockets and side mesh pockets are really handy.I use a Camelback bladder in it. Will probably get another when this one finally fails

I have a couple of Camelbacks I use for other stuff and they are really well made and nice packs. I also have an Osprey Switch 26 that I use skiing and that is a really nice pack as well and really well made with nice features, a bit big for riding though.

Was also going to suggest getting down to Bourg St Maurice and getting the Funi upto Les Arc. Some great riding there IMHO better than Tignes.

given the way that universities are funded on elligable enrollment numbers then you can rest assured that your tax payers pound is safe.

If that’s the case then and if it actually provides spaces for less well off students then its got to be a good thing, is this the case ? Genuine question as you seem to know about the funding model.

And just how does adding privately paid for places effect that?

It does not as long as it can be shown that they are paying 100% of the cost of their education and it is in no way subsidised. If that is the case then fine.

The problem is the fact the mixed funding model makes it very difficult to ensure this.

dont quite see why all the faux anger.

Universities are not state owned. Why can’t they sell a service privately?
It doesn’t reduce the funding capacity from the state, nor does it restrict the number of state funded places, in fact the opposite, it widens access funds.

That would be all well and good if the tax payer was not subsidising their existence. As soon as treasury money is paid to them they have a social responsibility.

Yep I have rode there, not as extensive as Morzine etc but still good fun. There are marked trails.

If you have been there in the winter and know the lifts, the trails run off the Palafour chair and the Aeroski bubble.

I think Val D’Isere might be doing a bit of biking this year too as they had some signs up at the end of the season. Though I might be talking rubbish about that :-)

Just because the front goes down does not mean the rear suspension has not compressed. It just means your forks have been compressed due to the weight transfer. Your rear shock could still be on the bump stop. This is the effect people are talking about.

In the real world the shock will probably not be on the bump stop so the rear will be still active to some degree.

Less freedom to pivot around the rear axle as the brake is stopping it rotating. This then stops the suspension arm moving as much (rather than actually stiffening up the suspension….). Just brake less on bumpy bits

But if I put the rear brake on I can compress the suspension and it moves freely in the car park :-)

I do know why braking is a problem I am asking the question to illustrate that most people just spout what they are told and don’t really understand it :-)

I have moved from a Patriot (single pivot) to a Hustler (4 bar)

I must admit I don’t notice the performance under braking being any better, but that might be because I rode the Patriot for 5 years so got used to not rear braking over rough stuff. What I do notice though is the lack of pedal feedback on the Hustler when climbing. Going over a root or something, I could feel pedal force increase/decrease.

Patriot in general felt much more active though, Hustler seems to steer better though

The 5 also suffers from a loss of active suspension under braking. all single pivot bikes do

    Why ?

At the end of the day you are a business man now. You got a quote and accepted it they did the work now you should pay.

How would you feel if one of your clients did the same to you ?

Not trying to be harsh but you are running a business !!!

I rode a 2004 Patriot last week with 150mm Fox36 Vans It was fantastic. I had 66 with 160mm coil lyrics and it was great too. I replaced it with the Cove hustler. The hustler is nice but does not have the bulldozer feel of the Patriot :-)
