Done about 7000 on mine, off to the Ardennes next month so that will bump that up a little. Another Spain trip later in the year. After that I will have think about if I want a change. I just have been spoilt with the Aprilia V4 engines and the BMW feels a little flat in comparison. That said the 200mile (ish) tank range and all day comfort are amazing. It does however sound great when revved even with the stock exhaust.

@allthegear How are you getting on with your XR now ?

I am not 100% about mine its fast and comfy, but feels like there is a little bit missing for me. I am tempted to give the KTM GT a test ride.

Its also not been 100% trouble free.

My stock answer for a first bike is a Triumph Street Triple. Easy to ride and so much fun. 🙂

Triumph Street Triple. Great for getting back into it and great once you are back into it. I still miss mine, even with the Tuono, RSV4 and S1000XR in the garage !!!

Street is super easy to ride, light little bit of torque so gear selection is not so critical. They look great too which is a bonus.

I did commuting, touring and trackdays on mine.

Your probably thinking of a “Speed” triple, Street triple is its smaller arguably better little brother.

Triumph Street Triple, dead easy to ride and you won’t get bored of it.

It will be happy riding to work or on a trackday.

    Brilliant little bikes !!!

If you have a fat enough upstream connection have a look at CrashPlan for a cloud backup service.

Their unlimited subscription is reasonably priced.

I could stop the engine with the kill switch. However that left all the lights still on and more importantly you could take the key out and it would still start. I guess it only reads the code in the key once when you turn the ignition on.

I do like it but there have been a few niggles. Even the slightest bit of camber and the sidestand does not feel that stable.

I think I will keep it next year do another big trip on it then look for a change. I am very very taken with the KTM 1290 GT !!!

Have you had any ignition barrel problems yet Rachael ?

Mine would not switch off and I had to disconnect the battery.

Pain as I had just got back from the Aragon MotoGP and the bike was in an underground carpark in Zaragoza and another 8days left of my tour.

Triumph Street Triple would get my vote too.

Easy enough to ride for beginner and fun enough for someone experienced.

Good to see your well organised Ben 🙂

Are you not planning on any long (6hr) real rides at all ? Are you going to do it all on the Turbo ?

I had a quick look, so might have missed it.

    @bensales

Are you new to power training or have you been doing it a while ? Are you using an ERG mode trainer ?

Interested as I have been training with power for a couple of years now and I did most of my Ironman training on the Kickr last year. Like you I felt it was the best bang for my buck.

However I think I am going to mix it up a bit more this year. I want more practice at holding my power targets over real changing terrain where you need to change gear to maintain cadence etc etc.

I got really good at peddling at 100rpm and letting the trainer set the power for me.

I did do a few TT’s etc to help with pacing and put some race power intervals into longer rides but still think I could do better with more practice.

As you can see the motor and impeller in a cut away, I am guessing that Dyson picture is rendered straight from CAD.

No. I’m a studio photographer, unless your wedding pics are going in Hello or Harpers they have no value beyond whatever the family and friends attribute to them.
The images I produce in the studio help people sell stuff to make money, that’s why I’m paid more than a wedding photographer, that and the fact an amateur will struggle to get close to what I produce.

At last someone in the business that understands. This is exactly it, those pictures have a value to the customer. They help them sell a product. Some pictures however, no matter how technically brilliant they are, just don’t have any value to the customer.

Its like saying my Dad doesn’t understand the value of the latest Metalica album. They have spent years learning to play that well have spent loads of money on studio time and equipment. So he must be a fool for not realising that and buying it. Its of no value to him !!!

I think some people are mistaken in thinking just because something takes a long time, requires some skill and expensive equipment, that is automatically has value.
No – people are saying that because of all that stuff you mention, someone is unlikely to give it away for free, whatever the punter’s opinion.

So your saying its not just the posters on here that over value it, Its the photographers as well 🙂

I think some people are mistaken in thinking just because something takes a long time, requires some skill and expensive equipment, that is automatically has value.

Just like anything else, its value is what someone is prepared to pay.

Simply what OOB was saying was he felt honor bound to go to the session after auntie Mable asked for the 5th time to see the pictures from the session. Then he gets there and gets the pressure sale of lots of pictures. Art meets the double glazing salesman 🙂

    Hi Racheal

I realised it was you that posted both lots of pictures 🙂

I love mine, did 4 days in Belgium a few weeks back and have a trip to Wales in a couple of weeks. Main trip is in September about 20 days in Spain. I can’t wait, will be a bit more comfortable than the Aprilia Tuono APRC 🙂

I went for Givi Trekker Outback cases as I wanted top loading panniers. Its my first ever bike with a topbox. I must be getting old 🙂

Also remember being best man is not just about the speech. Your job is to buffer them from any hassle or problems on the day. If you take the job seriously then its hard work !!!

If anything goes wrong they should not know it went wrong on the day.

I have seen a couple of reports that say wind noise is load in the Trafic, how do you find it?

Fine no worries at all, its very easy to live with. The newer twin turbo model is even more refined than the old one and the old one was very good.

Had a 2013 Trafic Sport from new and loved it. Now running a 2015 new model 140 Trafic sport and love that too.

I use it daily no problems at all.

How about we take the figure for the tax collected each year and divide it by the number of people of tax paying age in the country. If you pay less than that amount, you shut up and be thankful that people subsidise your life 🙂

Does that not seem fair 🙂

The Ducati tour and museum is brilliant, pretty cheap too I seem to remember it was only 12Euros. Bolonga is not the best place to stay though.

We rode over from there to Maranello and stayed in the Ferrari hotel. To be honest its more like a Travel lodge than anything posh. Cheap though 🙂

But can’t recommend the Ducati factory your and museum enough !!!

Its all pretty simple really isnt it.

They are quite within their rights to say we won’t make that design of cake for you, but we are happy to make you any other.

Its not OK to say we are not going to make any cake for you because your, gay, female, black etc.

Its not really that hard to work out is it !!!!

I really liked Y Mynydd trail and could and did spend happy days riding it. Not done the Pedalhounds trail.

Twrch again is a great trail as is the new Cafall, though as people have mentioned the idea is to pedal up those 🙂

I loved the last bit under the trees with all the roots at the end of the old orange. Easy to bin it if you were not expecting it though as it was quite fast going into it.

However what they have done to the trails up there is brilliant. If people have not been for years its worth going to see how its changed.

Choose a dry day though as wet chalk can be fun 🙂

Whilst I am not condoning his actions one bit. I find it interesting that he is likely to get a harsher sentence than if he punched her in the mouth and broke her jaw for something she wanted to do and was bragging to her mates on social media about.

    Thule roundtrip hardcase.

Used for both road and mountain bikes. However I am not sure it would be under 32KG with my DH bike in it.

You have to realise this was before everyone even had the internet. Someone obviously saw the huge impact it would have in the advertising team, which is astonishing in its self.
    Not quite, that was 2002…

    2002
As of January, 58.5% of the U.S. population (164.14 million people) uses the Internet. Worldwide there are 544.2 million users.
The death knell tolls for Napster after a bankruptcy judge ruled in September that German media giant Bertelsmann cannot buy the assets of troubled Napster Inc. The ruling prompts Konrad Hilbers, Napster CEO, to resign and lay off his staff.

But no facebook, no mumsnet etc etc, it was still 544milion geeks at that point. It certainly had no where near the impact it has now.

Edited to add hardly anyone had broadband in 2002, that was the game changer for the internet !!!

Clutch release bearing will be spinning while clutch is depressed, that can wear out. The cover plate and friction surface will be apart though so not wearing.

People used to be taught to use engine braking in the old days as brakes were crap.
