I could be interested depending on location, condition and model etc. Myford ML7’s deffo have some value and there is a market for them.
I would expect to find tooling in the drawers etc, so not just the stuff attached to the lath.
I have been looking at cheap Chinese lathes, but would be interested in a Myford instead.
bazzerFree MemberMassively disrespectful and very poor taste but not a crime.
If this somehow does get considered a crime then the UK is in a very dark place.
bazzerFree MemberIf there has been a criminal act an NDA does not stop you talking to the police.
bazzerFree MemberMy friend went from paddling to being able to swim a 3.8km Ironman in 2yrs. She could swim breast stroke badly and no crawl at all without drowning. Shes more than happy on long open water swims now.
But my advice if you want to swim better is you have to swim 3 times a week at least.
bazzerFree MemberI have a Bose mini and its OK for booming out music to fill a room. It does fall over though if you are trying to listen to it in a hotel room a bit quieter. It just booms as low volume. Its also not that great listening to spoken word like the radio.
It does throw out an impressive amount of sound though, however this is at the expense of any finesse.
Though I should remember its not hifi only a bluetooth speaker 🙂
bazzerFree MemberReally make me wonder what you are thinking, do you (& half the youtube posters) think they’ll really go to this level of construction, then they’ll forget something minor like a grommet? ;D
No obviously, see my other post.
bazzerFree Member@allthegear Yes my advice of buy bike, ride bike until you run out of time or money was ridiculous. It would never work 🙂
Only problem with these sorts of threads is its coming into winter in Northern Europe so we have to wait for the Spring to plan new trips.
So I guess I will have to go to Almeria on the edge of the Sierra Nevada to ride my bike around a race track for 5 days instead next week 😀
bazzerFree MemberI really need to get my Soda back on the trails, I loved riding it. Not ridden it for a few years now.
bazzerFree MemberI drive a 2015 trafic sport 140 as a daily driver. It works fine to be honest. So good I got rid of my car.
I think if you are going to get a van its worth getting something reasonably sized or its a compromise on the compromise.
bazzerFree MemberTo be honest with their level of attention to detail I didn’t think it would be something they would miss.
bazzerFree MemberI would have put some grommets in the holes to protect the wiring though. Thats going to chaff on that metal.
bazzerFree MemberYeah it would only be for a bit of fun and really a project. I prefer the look of the later RSV4 looking bikes. Is there anything I should know about buying them ?
bazzerFree MemberApart from something like a unrestricted 2 stroke RS125 or something interesting like that, if I was going to ride something low capacity around town I would choose a scooter. If I wanted to ride a bike for fun I would deffo get something bigger.
Comfier, Better suspension, better brakes and just more reliable as your not screaming the tits off it everywhere.
PS I am looking at RS125’s 🙂 Even though I have 3 litre bikes and a 650cc bike 🙂
bazzerFree Member@16stonepig Honestly don’t waste your time on the 125, if you can afford to do the DAS now just do it. Then if you are not feeling you want to get something fancy by a cheap CB500 or such like and ride that. It will just ride a lot better than a 125.
Edited to add
Well done on the CBT 🙂
bazzerFree MemberYou will need a CBT for a 125. How many miles is it ? and how much of that 30mins is national speed limit?
If its 30miles of 60mph roads its not going to be much fun on a 125 (though arguably more fun than a car 🙂 )
Someone above mentioned a superscoot like an XMax, not a bad idea simply because it will have better weather protection than your average 125.
I am biased so would say take your test and get something bigger and have some fun 🙂
PS One thing to have in mind is what is security like at work? Unfortunately in certain places in the UK bike theft is rife.
bazzerFree MemberWhat if we call it courtesy rather than respect. If I meet one if my mates I will stand up when they arrive to shake their hand. Do you let your kids start their dinner before everyone has theirs too?
Some may see stuff like this as pointless, however most is designed to make people actually thoughtful towards others.
bazzerFree MemberHe may of burned his bridges with others and he may be in a real bad way, surely that’s the time to be a friend.
Friendship is not about being there when they are at their best it’s about being there when they are at their worst.
bazzerFree MemberI am on my second Trafic sport and I love having a van. Great for cycling and motorbike trackdays and I have on occasion slept in it.
I have had both from new with the current one just coming up to 3 years old. The new third gen one I have is marginally nicer to drive than the gen 2 but the build quality does not seem as good.
I have considered a VW but the amount of extra money I would have had to spend was crazy.
I drove my mates older T5 the other day and there was no way I would swap that for mine. Much more clunky and van like. I am sure the newer ones are probably as good as the Renault/Vauxhaul platform but a lot of money.
I think next one will be a Transit Sport, though my local Renault dealer has a habit of doing a deal thats hard to turn down.
bazzerFree MemberThe sugar thing is self perpetuating the more you have the more you want. It actually only takes a few days to get off the roller coaster. I can quite happily not have any cake when people bring it into the office. However if I have one piece you can bet I will want another in an hours time. Also if i had piece today and more came tomorrow it would be harder to say no.
After a few days though the sugar cravings go and its pretty easy.
For me my weight and fitness go hand in hand. I was looking at my race times (bad triathlete) and even 3KG extra blunted my run performance a fair bit. Its the same climbing hills on the bike. Increasing the w/KG its generally easier to lose weight than gain 20w
bazzerFree Membertrolling
Quick note for bazzer – trolling does not equal disagreeing.
The analogy with gun lobby in US was aimed at provoking a response and nothing to do with the argument, trolling !!
bazzerFree MemberJust blithely saying ‘vehicles save lives so we have to accept a bit of collateral damage’ is the same language that the gun lobby in the US use.
Deffo trolling now 🙂
Thing is the government has done lots to reduce casualties you only have to look at the year on year stats over the last 20 years for that.
For instance I would love to see a segregated cycle path system in the UK the one we have obviously to any cyclist does not provide any level of protection. That however is selfish, I know in my heart it would not do much to impact that 1800 people. There are however many ways that money could save 1800 people. Lives are lives better to look on it in the round rather than just pick on one area.
My take on UK drivers is they are pretty safe, however I would not say they are courteous.
bazzerFree MemberOoh! Only 1000 people dead. Who cares about them eh? That’s less that 3 a day, everything is cool.
Everyone dies Dez everyone dies at some point. Your comment is either trolling or extremely naive. How many lives are saved by motor vehicles each year? We can cut road deaths to zero easily, no motor vehicles. That is the only way to guarantee no road casualties. Then no ambulances, no fire engines no deliveries of drugs. My guess and I admit it is a guess more than 1000 lives are saved by motor vehicles a year. Some of you sound like you have the reasoning of children 🙂
If you want to save lives target the big hitters, this is pissing in the wind.
bazzerFree MemberThat’s exactly what I’m saying.
According to the World Health Organisation, more than 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashesIn 2016 there were 181,384 accident casualties recorded on Britain’s roads; 1,792 of these were fatal.
https://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/CBP-7615
So 1.25 million total only 1800 were here and you think we drive badly. Time you take out those people who have had a medical episode while driving, mechanical failure, trees dropping on cars etc we are probably down to 1000 where bad driving was the cause.
Like I said don’t let the facts get in the way of your hatred for motor vehicles. Your stats crush your own argument.
bazzerFree MemberThanks for some of the support chaps, it makes me feel normal.
If you disagree with my driving style, please overtake me at your earliest convenience and don’t tailgate.
Thanks.
Your’e not normal but you don’t deserve to be tailgated or abused 🙂
People need to drive in their comfort zone, no one should be forced to drive faster or do things they don’t want to do.
PS Have you considered a caravan 🙂
bazzerFree Memberbeing one of the safest does not mean we drive well. Just comparatively less badly.
Only slightly more badly than Switzerland, we drive better than the rest of the world, or are you saying the whole world drives badly 🙂
bazzerFree Members a nation of car drivers we generally drive too fast, we drive badly, we don’t pay enough attention, and we do this all with a huge sense of entitlement coupled with aggression.
Weird the stats say we are one of the safest nations when it comes to driving. However lets not let the truth get in the way of a good rant 🙂
Edited to add
3.6 deaths per billion KM driven. Only country better is Sweden with 3.5 deaths per billion KM. We are in a tie with Switzerland they are 3.5 too !!
bazzerFree MemberI could quite easily see how you could only get 1500 miles out of a rear on an MT-10 with a soft sports tyre. I have seen off a Rosso Corsa in a little over 2000 not riding stupidly on my Tuono V4.
I have had a couple of pairs of Metzler Roadtec 01’s on the S1000XR recently, sport touring tyre. They last probably 4000miles. I get about 3000 from a Rosso II. I think I am going to go back to a sportier tyre, the sports touring tyres may last a bit longer but the profile is not as nice a a sports tyre even from the start, even worse when it squares off a bit. So think I will give the Metzler M7RR a go next. They may last a 1000 or so miles less but they are actually cheaper than 01’s so swings and roundabouts. Just a pain when on a long tour.
bazzerFree MemberI love a beer, but I also have concern for my health. My main reason for not drinking as much these days is the empty calories. You can work all week to run a deficit if your trying to lose weight and blow it all the weekend with beer.
I am not sure when I started feeling guilty about what I eat/drink Its not as much fun as when I didn’t 🙂
bazzerFree MemberI want this automated system to speed bikebouy up to the speed limit just to see his face 🙂
bazzerFree MemberMy advice would be do a DAS course, buy something that actually you have some enthusiasm for. Ride it for a few weekends to get a feel for it. You might think its hard to start it will get easier.
Give it a chance is the big bit of advice, it will take time to get the right setup and the right kit etc. Once you do though if its for you (and its not for everyone) it will change your life 🙂
Black clouds outside and I have the Take the BMW for some warranty work this afternoon, with the right bike and the right kit it doesn’t really matter.
@allthegear you had any problems with yours?bazzerFree MemberAgree Becks Blue is not that nice at all, it tastes like traditional non alcoholic beer.
bazzerFree MemberWhen I was Ironman training and was off the beer I found the Erdinger and Warsteiner to be OK. Tried brewdog Nanny State horrible, which was a disappointment.
None of it tastes as good as proper beer though.
bazzerFree MemberA world in where no one is killed in an RTA but we all die of boredom 🙂
bazzerFree MemberI swim in a 50m 920XT Triathlon watch and its fine. I have duck dived down to probably 7 or 8M with no problems.
bazzerFree MemberI have done a 3500mile Tour on a Street Triple before, I still think its one of the best bikes ever made.
Bigger bikes on the road work if you are doing lots of miles as they are a bit less frantic, but once you get to the mountains the little bike wins hands down 🙂
Ironically for me its big bike on road little one on track.
I will say though I love sportsbikes, I think they look amazing and they are generally the pinnacle of what can be done. However they make little sense on modern roads.
Years ago though the the only bikes with decent suspension brakes etc were sports bikes, naked bikes were much more budget. Now you can get a naked with Ohlins and Brembos etc. That makes the sportsbike a lot less relevant.
PS is it possible to link pics from google images here, I tried and failed !!!
bazzerFree MemberCould not seem to embed the picture, this is at Anglesey, not a knee down pic but sums up why its fun 🙂
bazzerFree MemberWeeksy, I am a convert to the fun to be had on a small bike now. I changed from an RSV4 for trackdays to an 82BHP CBR650f ex European Junior Cup bike. Not had as much fun for years. Its a lot less low stress than a high value bike, a lot less terrifying and loads of fun 🙂
bazzerFree MemberAs with most bikers on this thread I am not one for stupid loud pipes on bikes. They annoy me let alone anyone else.
The comment I was objecting too was the only reason people fit them is because they are an idiot. People do fit them for a number of reasons one being to be heard. Its quite obvious that something louder is more likely to be heard than something quiet. There is quite a bit of science to back that up 🙂
Rachel, you are riding a sports bike on stilts though 🙂 18K service on mine this week and a bit more warranty work 🙁
