I’m also 3 x 10 but looking to go double & bash. Do you need a 10sp specific 36T chainring?

I have a bash guard and an N Gear Jump stop – works for me.

Lee Quarry is good fun but even if you combine it with the neighbouring Cragg Quarry, it is only 3 hours worth of riding at the most.

Loads of good stuff around the Peaks – I am riding Jacobs Ladder today which is a quality ride. Lakes will be busy but a few of us are riding Helvellyn on the day of the Royal Wedding cos we imagine a lot of the ramblers will be glued to their sets!

I would suggest that you ensure your tattoo is done anywhere except your knees or your elbows then you should be fine 😯

What width did you get? I have one a 2.4 on my rear which is very good in most conditions IME

I have a 1×9 setup on my Pig. Ideal for me and my other FS bike is 3×10 and considering dropping two of the front rings on that too

Riding Helvellyn whilst Wills and Kate get hitched – should be very quiet with the ramblers all i glued to their sets… 😈

They are very vulnerable to that. Mine went half way round a trail and thankfully the little screw on ring you fing on inntertubes did the trick.

Got replacements from LBS and keep a spare set in my bag now.

Same here – only side to side feels loose but is tightened fully. Thinking of just putting a layer of insulation taps round the seat bars to put a stop to it ready for Coniston on Sat

If you don’t wash them and wear normal (thin) socks, stick woith your normal size. If (like me) you put them in the washing machine every other ride and wear sealskinz, I should have gone a size up.

Go a size up – I have the Sam Hill ones which are fantastic but I occasionally throw them in the washing machine with my muddy shorts etc and they feel like they’ve dropped a couple of sizes when you get them one.

I had one of those – very good bike indeed and you will enjoy it. I only really had to upgrade the wheels

Leisure Lakes and Edge Cycles both in Lancaster and MTB savvy. Lancaster is generally a good spot to live – any further North and prices are shocking. You could look at Carnforth / Arnside so you’d be north of Lancaster but only 10/15 mins away. The good thing is that you’d be 10/15 mins closer to the Lakes and a bit closer to training rides from the door. There is also a Canal that runs up towards Kendal (think there is a break in it at Tewitfield still..?) so you could use that as a means to head north and stay off the road.

Merlin are cheap for online but miserable buggers in the shop. Unhelpful, clock watching nobody’s who treat every customer as an inconvenience.

Amongst other things, I took my bike there to have some work done on it prior to a weekend away at glentress. Gave them three weeks to do and and what do they do, wait until the day before I go and tell me the freehub is goosed. Asked when they can fix it, was told that they haven’t got round to doing this weeks parts order. Many angry phone calls later was loaned a bargain basement rear wheel to get me over the weekend.

In particular, there is chief frontline shop counter misery guts that sports glasses. Don’t ask him if you want your usual lbs type info. Think he has lost the will to live.

Other than that, they’re quite handy for me and parts arrive quick by post

Cheers guys for the opinions. Think I’ll arrange a test ride of the 18″ pro and the 20″ am. Mr cycleworld I a am interested in the orange orange but am also looking at a couple of upgrades (particularly the wheels).

I’ll contact you after my test rides(s) to see what you can do for me

I do varied riding in Lakes / Peaks /N Wales and my local is Rivington (which I would still use my stumpy for) – think the Pro would be fine but I think the extra £100 for the maxle and longer travel might just be offset by the weight penalty.

Why’s Sky say this is episode 7/7? *boggles*

I thought that – Not on the BBC HD channel either yet – Bloody Holby City… ❗
