I have 1×10 setup on my five with race face narrow wide and zee mech and haven’t dropped a chain since (circa 250 miles) in Lakes with variety of terrain inc drops, rocks, steps etc.

Recently added a hope T-Rex 40t expander to my setup and introduced another couple of links but still no issues on two most recent rides on same sort of terrain. No need for a chain device IMO

It is perfect mid ride fuel even if you do end up with jaw ache!!

My current fave is the chocolatey one but the banana one is also lovely

+1 for Paul Hewitt cycles. Did me a mavic 819 onto my hope hub in a couple of days. If you have the parts and just want it lacing up, they might even do same day

Performance management in the real sense should be about coaching and working towards AGREED goals. It is absolutely brilliant way of getting rid of dead wood who think drifting about on reputation or bullsh1tting people somehow justifies their wage. Anyway.

    Welcome to January.

I have a 36 front ring and 11-36 cassette and it works good for me. If your commute is extremely hilly you may find it challenging but good for the fitness.

Agree with the other comments. The HD is still supposed to be fantastic but may if anything be slightly more affordable than when they first landed

I have a 2011 five Pro and am on 1×10 for ages 36 up front and 36/12 on the back. No issue with rubbing and also have a Sunline V1 chain guide fitted again with no rubbing issues.

Jelly snakes are a winner plus chomp on Soreen for simple “stuff in the bag” food. Also banana AND Nutella on a butty is as good as gel I’ve found but lasts longer

Good in general conditions but once they get soaked, the stick to your legs (don’t they all) and can feel heavy. Not keen on 3/4 length unless dryish IME

Used to use Muc Off disc brake cleaner but switched to Meths on advice of Hope – cheap, easy to get hold of (sneaked it in on the weekly shop…) and does the job

Same happened to me after landing hard from a jump on my hardtail – consigned the tyre to the bin as I doubted it would do its job.

To be fair, I am a little embarrassed that people pad up for dele. I believe it is to protect from those nettles and brambles found on those routes you don’t know about.

The woollybacks are a sociable club – probably why teetosugars is not a member. Anyone can stretch their legs round Dele but it hardly somewhere anyone should be hunting strava segments.

It is used by the club for some midweek training and preparing / assessing riders that are returning to off road biking. It is a sensible policy from a responsible accreditted club.

Run 34/34 on a 1×9 set up on my hardtail and 36/36 1×10 on my five. I ride around Lakes / Peaks / N Wales generally and it doesn’t hold me back – in fact it has encouraged me to try harder which pays off.

Got up Honnister pass which is a 25% gradient in a personal best time the other week so it is doable

Did mine under warranty with Evans. Mine was a mark one version and the fluid nipple broke after a few rides – seems this was ankjown problem as the mark two has a thicker one. Took almost two weeks but that was mainly down the Evans not really understanding the problem

The Bruce Hotel in Newton Stewart. Went there with our club earlier this month and they took in 39 of us. Had Bed, Breakfast & evening meal. Oh, and one of the waitresses runs pole dancing classes 😉

I always thought “RE:Build” would be catchy. Then you can branch out to re:plaster / re:roof / re:paint. Would be better if your initials were R.E

Yes the raw comes all Logo’d up and looks awesome. I have one and got it from bikeactive. The fact it doesn’t need painting means you should get it quicker than – for instance – a pink one, as they only paint in batches. And the added benefit is that they do not charge for it in raw as they would for any other off catalogue colour.

You local dealer can sort it without issue. If you want to be proper bling, you could get the frame polished before being primed but that will probably add minimum £100.

Worse case scenario, you send it away to be painted and have the bearings done at a later date.

+1 for the Ignitors. Identical to Verts so a good all rounder and I run an Ardent on the back. Still have a vert on the front of my HT but a big fat Rubber Queen UST on the rear (2.4). Like a tractor tyre but excellent grip and traction IMO

follow the road round past the kennels then drop down the hill and you’ll come to a right hand bent – go left there over a gate which then links up to the road. When you hit the tarmac, hang a left and follow your nose to the masts. There is also a path next to the kennels that does the same but think thats cheeky…

Need to stick it under your bar like your shifters – think what would happen if you binned it or if you need to turn it upside down on the trail – tjhe lever isn’t strong eneough to support your bike.

Easy enough to trim the cable – just make a slit close to the control end and pull (may even help it along by heating for 1-2 seconds with a lighter).

I love mine – two rides in and boy does it help the flow.
