Grease in the hubs isn’t down to canyon anyway it’s down to the maker of the hub {couldn’t think how to spell manufacturerer}.

Unfortunatly they come as a complete bolt kit about 40 quid from any good spech dealer and if a concept store dosn’t stock them well thats just stoopid.

Unfortunatly PF30 AND BB30 are crap in any brand of bike, it is the one modern standard we have the most problems with durability wise or lack of it can’t comment on the other probs though.

I ran over a grey squirral a couple of weeks back, the hardy little begger ran off though, the rat i ran over a week later wasn’t so lucky.

sounds like your missing the spacer from between the freehub and the driveside hub bearing.

    6 Seconds to slow.

Ianmunro you sound like an ambulance chasing lawer i ride at speeds that i can’t stop safely from all the time it’s called having fun on my mountain bike and when doing so i sometimes have ACCIDENTS, and i’m glad to be part of a community where the majority of paticipants act in this way of not instantly throwing blame around.
If i think back to all the times i’ve riden at swinley on the twisty singletrack in summer when the ferns are high i can’t see round any corner but i still ride as fast as i dare and god forbid i have fun and sometimes when having said fun i have an ACCIDENT.

I’ve just made a couple of miles worth of singletrack on MOD land in conifer and beech woodland in a quiet area and it’s turned out awesome, key is low impact trail building i move dead wood and brush leaves out of the way about two feet wide to define the trail absolutely no digging if you don’t own the land, don’t be seen doing it keep your entry and exit points as well hidden as possible and don’t build your trail right to the entry exit so if someone sticks their head in it’s not instantly visable start your trail 15-20 yards in. Once it’s up and running don’t be seen entering exiting by other countryside users if someones milling about ride on by and come back in five mins, main problem in our area is enduro bikes if they find it the trails doomed, goodluck and remember low impact no digging is your best hope of success i’m still riding trails built this way 15-20 years on with little or no complaint on FC and MOD land.

Not Realy archaic just simple and perfectly reliable if the mavic service shedual is kept to, strip down wipe out reoil twice a year, i’ve just sold a pair of ten year old crossmax disc’s with the nylon bush and running as good as new.

Play in a new gxp bb usually means the crank bolts not done up tight enough.

Mavic are some of the most reliable wheels out there, never had problems with any of mine, spokes come in packs of 10, 12 or 14 depending on wheel and can be purchased singly from good mavic stockists.

Sould be under warranty spesh hubs have troublesome freehubs at the best of times.

    baznav73

What freehub has it got, if it is the freehub body with the yellow/cream colour nylon bush then it’s a 2010 wheel and these bushes can wear if crap gets in and in bad cases it can even wear the hub shell the bush spins on and that would give you the play you describe.
in this case only fix is a new freehub body.
the new 2012 wheel has an alloy freehub body with sealed cartridge bearings.

Well the mud in the woods isn’t the problem it’s the greenery brambals thistles and nettals, it was drier than i expected.
Cinnamon girl. I don’t tend to go any further west than upavon and neitheravon it gets a bit bland further over, best riding is around bulford, tidworth and everleigh areas some great trails to be had and holy cow was it hot today.

Might pop up one evening this week and have a look, couldn’t believe how dry the plain was today.

They were all held in the woods itself didn’t go anywhere else, you can make a good circuit round there the old races used to use probably two thirds off the woods and used to start at the bottom end and one or two of the later and last races started up the top end at herridge, and as i remember they were generaly wet and muddy.

I’m off over the plain tomorrow to catch some rare rays to nice to go looking for some lost guy in the woods 8)

I even found a starline picture of one of the early collingbourne races in the shed it must be close to that time, lots of dayglo lyca on display and rigid forks make me cringe.

Yes they were the days good times, cinnemon girl, yep spring is always the best time for collingbourne woods before the leaves come out and the sun and wind can get in and dry it.
However i reacon with 20 years knowledge of the woods i can put together a fairly descent bog free loop even now.

Don’t know hanvn’t riden up ther since april us locals know to avoid in summer, i switch to the plain which dries out super quick after rain.
I would think it’s still very wet after the amount of rain we’ve had the last couple of months you might be lucky if it’s dry by october.

If you are coming from the andover direction drive through ludgershall and keep looking right you want central street it’s about 3/4 of the way through if you pass tesco’s you have gone to far, follow central street all the way out of the houses and you will be going down a hedge lined single road when you get to the sharp bend at the bottom turn left and follow the gravel track till you get to the forestry collingbourne woods sighn park anywhere around there and explore.

There is some great stuff to be had but you will probably need a guide to find the dry bits, i will hapilly show you round one evening or sunday.

You’ll only get spokes in even millimetres so you round them up or down and depending on brand of spoke depends what sizes they do, DT tend to do single millimetre sizes and SAPIM will only do odd or even size. 12 or 14mm nipples will be fine nipple included with all spoke are generaly 12mm three cross spoke pattern will be the best with disc brake loadings.

The plain around tidworth and bulford has plenty of riding but you realy need local nowledge to link up the best stuff, collingbourne woods good but as said muddy this time of year.

Right wrench wrong nipples they can’t be dt nipples.

If you do end up sending yours make sure it is spotlessly clean including tyres, NZ customs are super strict on letting any non native seeds and stuff into the country will save unecessary holdups.
