I’m getting back into riding after quite a few years off. The e-bike deals are really tempting, but assume there is basically no warranty now on vitus/nukeproof frames? Might have more luck on component warranties such as Shimano (thinking of the steps motor).

Anyone got and info regarding this?

I would ignore advice regarding knee over pedal spindle etc. This is the sort of stuff bikeradar serve up

Ignore advice over a fundemental part of bike fit? Bikeradar say a lot of rubbish, usually with people having massive over extension of the legs and the stem slammed but correct KOPS can trnasform a riders comfort from short to day long rides.

KOPS is a vague, waffly starting point for a basic fit

KOPS is a pretty scientific part of any bike fit from MTB to road if you are clipping in. It is altered based on what your needs are (Triathlon for instance) but for 95% of people correct KOPS is a hugely important part of an overall bike fit.

I’m sorry for being argumentative. It sounds fundamentally that the bike is the wrong size which I think we all agree on (without seeing) but don’t disregard scientific bike fit fact!

You shouldn’t be moving the saddle forward to help with reach. Saddle adjustment is only for correct leg extension, correct tilt of the saddle (based on your saddle to bar drop) and the rails are for what we call ‘knee over pedal spindle’. Instead of a new stem spend money on getting a proper bike fit done.

Road bikes require a proper dialled in fit because your position on it is the same for huge lengths of time. Your overall height is just a small part in frame sizing – everyone has a different body composition.

If the frame is far to big or small and the fit is poor she will hate it and never want to ride it. Go see a LBS with a good track record of bike fit for advice…

Every bike manufacturer will measure bike frame sizing slightly differently and have different geometerys so spitting out numbers and converting inches to cm is relatively pointless.

If you have pains and want to enjoy road riding get a bike fit by a trained professional.

    Best £80(ish) you can spend.

Agreed. Rather use a tatty old Shimano skewer than a brand new Hope one.

I had massive problems last summer with him. As did others. I really would avoid them at all costs.

I’d love to know when we can get replacement rear mech hangers.

There is a reason there are so many good riders in the Tweed Valley. Caberston is a big reason! It’s a world series event. What would be the point in seeing the elites take on a red route? Looking forward to this massively. If it’s too hard then maybe you’re not ready for it yet.

It’d be some sort of amazing brain fart if the frame can’t take a 180

Yeah that’s what I thought. But something tells me I should ask…

Can anyone tell me how big a rear rotor the frame is rated for? Running 180 front/160 rear airotor with xt brakes. Like to put on xt rotors 180 front/rear for more stopping power as reckon airotors are a bit push for plummeting downhill.

    Been thinking about this.

If I had ordered the full build (which I didn’t) I’d be a bit annoyed about X01. The new MBR advertises it as a x01 transmission. However the X1 cranks are absolutely fine. Packet of crisps difference? You don’t buy this bike for its weight… Stonkingly good value for money. Everything is X01 bar cranks.

If you’re that upset send it back.

However I bought the frame (shock not installed?) and think it’s absolutely amazing.

Here it is having a rest up Minch Moor.

Longest ride I’ve done on it is 60k so far on a mix of natural/trail centre Tweed Valley, pedals efficiently enough. Brilliant bike.

Ordered a frame and forks! Can’t wait. Bit of time to decide on how I’m going to build it. Blue looks great.

Brant – still looking good for despatch on 12th for frame only?

All that money and no dropperpost? How are you meant to ride it around a trail centre like that?

    It’s obviously a XC bike.

Samsung Only released 4.3 to the Galaxy range 5 weeks or so ago. The software was so buggy they pulled it from the update servers. Only in the last few days has a patch been available.

They are releasing 4.4 in April apparently…

I was (still am) a SSAC Sport Diver. Did 400 odd dives but started to get lots of sinus problems (and not enough time) so jacked it in and bought a MTB. I do miss it and I’ve explored a hell of a lot of Scotland with it. I probably prefer MTB as I can go out on my lonesome haha.
