If it helps any I’ve just had some stans flow 3 built up with sapium spokes and pro4 hubs. Not risen yet as been lazy but they are nice set up also worth noting there a 2000gram set built but I’m not light. So if me I’d look at the arcs and arches rim wise got both and there good rim choice.

Case in point for this shop is really internet sales have been the biggest impact for him! Crc doing there parts sales on Shimano and sram cheaper than they buy them in at, then of cause there bike sales he stocks cube crc buy last years left ove cubes and sell them 25% cheaper.
So many people come through spend time with him trying road bikes etc and then a couple of weeks later you see them ride past on a new bike. Seems weird to me to not even ask the shop owner if they can match or near as dame it match a price! Better to make some thing than nothing. Sadly though as mentioned as sales went down so has the shop not for want of trying though I’ll give him that.
Regards repairs and servicing I think it would really impact older people who still ride there bikes, he looks after a lot of those. But he is keeping a work shop service going in the same building as he owns.

In a nut shell thankfully he’s going to keep a work shop open so at least the oldies can still get there bikes looked after as can I lol.

    Also.
Last bikes fast forward the new production privee gt frame and BTR 29er. Probably worth an email to BTR as the design and build there own steel frames in Bristol, I’m sure tam and burg would be more than Helpfull there a great pair of guys.

It does look nice but as I’m finding why are intense frames so hard to sell on second hand even newer ones

Yep,about 10 rides and the whole sole Delaminated away from base! Sadly not able to return either as I had them in the cuboard for about 4 months before I used them and couldnt find any reciept for them. Poor show from five ten on this model.

Orange crush here same as you 6.3 but heavier, actually ride a large 19in great frame comfy and very quick.
I’ve seen a new p7 and Gotta say it has the gate like look about it due to a higher top tube than the crush for me!
Also worth a look the production privee oka! Steel long and low very crush like in angles!
Must say though having come from about 3/4 other steel frames in the last few years the crush is a very compliant frame as good as some comfort wise and better than others!
I’d get a ride on one if you can though for fit because I’d say your able to fit both lrg and Xl frames

Going from the last X years I’ve had bfe, radley bagger, radley TI, production privee shan26,27.5 and the oka to! I know FFS make your mind up. Am now on a 2016 crush.
So back to the answer for the most part there all good bikes cotic was great harsh on the back end though,
Bagger was fun and quit springy. TI well it’s TI so there you go!
Now the privee’ are great machines Shan is by far my favourite of all the steel frames I’ve had its just great but you do need to be able to handle a machine that can just about do it all super fast when pointed down! The oka it’s little, brother was also great but I didn’t give it much time as the new 917 Shan was launched and I had to have that lol.
So now on the crush alloy of cause it’s longer than the Shan and I’m on a 19inch one apposed to an xl in the Shan.
It’s shorter travel and just as fast and to date I’d say better on the back end it, less harsh I don’t get back feeling like my ankles have been through it that’s for certain.

This is actually a good thread :-)
I’m kinda in the same boat my self! Mounting biking for 24 years now and I’m 45! just 8weeks in after my second nasty off in 8 months!! Both times broken ribs first 3 weeks off work, this time ribs and separated shoulder 6/8weeks! Self employed to.
Mind you since leaving my full time job at the end of 2013 I’ve just got quicker then ever, which of cause means faster, harder crashes. Only really good thing is my head is still in the game can’t wait to get back on the bike, but am wondering if I should my be change how I ride to some degree stop trying to keep up with these youngsters who I ride with(I’m the eldest in group by 11years) mind you strava times where all pretty much on top of each other regards the downhills.
But the healing takes soooooo long now and the weight comes on soooooo easy! What with chocolate digestives being £1 at tesco’s express

    Allan23 it’s not a 2012, He says it’s a 2015! So not a bad price!
Got a buddy did the same with a brand new warranty replacement same price and got a bos vipr shock of a rune for £150 of eBay all good.

90% dry I’d Say! If Saturday’s dog walk is anything to go by

Nope never did after my last claim about the same time as you!
Gave up the n the end and just took them off was way to much! Think it hit 1k for the full policy in the end

    batman11

Had a sb66 yeti great bike nothing to complain about there! Had the rune same again great bike did everything very well in fact better than it should of for the amount of travel.
But £500 on an older frame is a lot and not really any return to be had if you did look to get newer tec in the next year or so!
So I’d say rune 26 now 650 later if you wanted to.
Also good news is as I’m sure you’ve worked out the yeti shock Is the same size so quick service and tune and new mounts and away you go!
    Win win

Moved to flats a coup,e of years ago here did superstars ok, did Shimano saints yuk,,

2016 is slacker has a longer top tube think shorter rear triangle and stealth dropper routing to. So more modern geometry really.
    I’m 6.3 and a lrg 19inch one fits me fine with a 45mm stem.

Got a 2016 here I picked up second had a few months a go! It’s a great bike rides everything very well, and as comfy as any of the steel hardtails I’ve had in the last few years in the back to.
Must say though I’d go more towards the 16 version! unless the one your looking at is crazy cheep! As a new frame is only £400 which I know could be a fair bit for some but then I’ve seen people still trying to get £300 plus of a 2015 frame seem a bit steep to me

I think as Jonny mountain said above it can depend on your height build! In my group we go form around 5.9 to 6.3 tall and run between 745 to 780mm bars on are trail bikes. I’m top end on the height and seem to favour 760 bars but height and sweep seem to be more important for me as I don’t have the best wrists in the world. Plus I also tend not just with bars but bikes as well its Gotta fit where 90% of your riding is done.
