As I walk and ride in the same woods I’m very aware of what my dogs doing if I see a bike I get him to wait and hang on to his coller if I see a horse I put him on the lead or as before coller till all is clear. I don’t want him hurt or any one so for me it’s the owners responserbility to sort the pooch out. But that’s my thoughts I just want to spend money on my bikes not him 😉

Can say for sure the zula would do all you require? And I used mine at coed and it was a blast. Pivots are good but only riden the 5.7 so more a long travel all round trail bike. Second hand wise Santa Cruz blur xc carbon is an option set up with a 120mm fork its a great bike very capable and ready to hit up most things. New of the self bikes giant anthem, value for money wise cube are hitting the mark and flying out the door at my local shop. To carry on the zula theme Santa Cruz superlight new version taper’d head tube etc one of the best bikes I’ve had very fun and similar to the zula which I would say (zula) is stiffer in the rear end. Hope that helps a bit.

If it was me I’d go for the cube and keep your anthem.
Both are great bikes, you get the best of both hardtail vs full sus, option to,choose best bike for terrain when racing plus a back,up no mater what plus if you do have the extra burning a hole in your pocket give the anthem an upgrade or two.

Pretty sure they where maxed at 130. But heard many did run the 140 option for trail riding. But having said that 120 is ment to be the sweat spot for them for quick handling and all round stuff.

Hate to say the words mbuk but think it was them that did an articul on this some years ago much of which came to the conclusion from some governing body that its walkers, horses then us that cause issues!! Mind you this was 10plus years ago and mountain biking has increased hugely since but I ride and walk the dog a lot in the same woods and it is very clear to see that where water lies walkers are making theses areas wider trying to keep there feet dry etc.. Horses are churning it up in small areas which we avoid as best we can this time of the year.

Why not a portable pressure washer at the trail head??? Like one of these.
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/SearchResults.aspx?Search=Pressure+washer
I clean it strap it on the back of the car drive home , it’s air dry by the time I get there and all I have to do is lube the chain and all while taking it through the house.
About every 4 rides I give the bike a very good once over in the garden etc.
there a bit of an cost at the start but I’m on my second year with my mobi v17 and its been a god send.

Gavip you might want to get to your local dealer and check stocks etc cube are selling out in certain sizes on quit a few of the 29er range till next years drops with them!!

Go for the better bike it’s a false economy to try and upgrade later will cost loads more!! Regards weight the frame will be the same through out the range forks and wheels will make a big difference and you will get used to the benifit of a slightly lighter bike very quickly. My lbs has sold loads of cubes in the last 2 years since he got the brand and can’t recommend them enough great value for money and the guys I’ve ridden with who have them rave about them so which ever way you go recon it will be a win/win for you.
    Good luck.

Yeah axel to crown could be an issue. I’m unsure regard the difference in the 160/140 as I’ve not measured them but mine do look shorter than my buddy’s 160. Regards problems I’m pretty sure they will be ok my buddy’s have been great out of the box! And he knows quit a few people who run the forks on there enduro type bike who have had no issues either plus with a year to tap year service intervals its gotta be good. The only major issue I can see is if there is a proble the cost of getting them over to Ireland it cost me nearly £45 with poor insurance to post them I’d hate to have seen the cost if I’d insured them for £900 quid 🙁
On a plus side after a quick email to madelkcycles they seem keen and when parts are in from France are hoping to have a week turn around on things! Cross fingers they might come up with a collection/ return delivery service like Tftuned do which might work out cheaper.

Not a 100% ! But a buddy of mine runs both on his heckler and they work unbelievable well together definitely would be a bad combo with the original fox rp23 fitted. They both just sit in that mid point of travel all the time that fox seem to just blow through, until it starts to get ruff and ready then the rest of it just comes into play. I’ve watched locally South Downs and in Wales and it just works faultlessly in unison.
Quit a concern for me as I’m getting my 140 devilles sort out under warranty and there going on to a Santa Cruz TRC with a fox rp23 and it seems they don’t do a matching sized vipR so I guess I’m gonna find out just how un matched it could be in the next month or so, specially as the old knee injury is getting sorted out and am aloud out on short rides now 😀

New bos supply is these guys. http://www.madelkcycles.com/
Another thing to bare in mind with bos forks iis your rear shox might feel very poor in comparision, to be fair you would have to think about either a vipr or cane creak air to match the forks performance. Also if stiffness is a factor why not the fox 34 and drop travel to 140 if possible.

Yeah seal skins for socks. And I’ve tried the endura nemo gloves cut to hand shape and felt good quit a thick material though

Pabloxxi just sent my forks back for warranty to mad elk so will see how it all goes soon I hope, mind you cost of getting them over there from the uk was bad nearly £45 and that was with poor insurance hate to think what it would cost for the full amount :x. Will check in when I hear something hopefully soon

Yeah there a good bunch, dealt with them back in February over a stolen bike plus a part build that was in a box. Luckily they paid out the cash as they couldnnt match the build bits up, with an 18% loss which is what they gave my insurer as a discount so between that a my local, bike shop I did ok in the end. If they do cube bike’s check them out great value for money and seem good bikes to boot.

Hay clock was he vip’r valued for single pivot? Cause that would make a difference the one I had on a alpine 160 was great and I sold it on to a buddy with a heckler and he recons it inasmuch transformed it mind he does have devilles on it too.

Yeah I’ve used. Basic Thule roll on with light board it’s ok It doesn’t have those individual clamps luckily just toe clip type fasteners, main thing is though we do have to but big lagging on all the fork legs just one side to stop rubbing etc. mind I would probably do the same thing with the hanging one on long trips etc.

Hi mate apart from the obvious rear mech, shifters, cassette and chain the only real thing you would need is a single chain ring rental,e13 etc and a basic chain guide ie e13 superstar mpart. Chainring wise you just need to check your bolt spacing most cranks are 104 and then which size ring 34 tooth seems a good option.
On a naughty note I have a complete 10 speed group set which might be of interest my email is in profile if it is.
    Hope this helps a bit.

Gotta be a TI Dekerf Implant frame£2200 for me was around the time they where going to close down so just did it. took 11 months to get it and by the time it was built it was/is the most expensive bike I’ve ever built nearly £6000. quit simply the fastest hardtail I’ve ever ridden on singletrack was a sad day when I sold it but could not justifie having it as a second bike.

I have to say having done 800 miles a couple of months ago with 2 bikes on the roof and 3 on the back, i recon it cost about £20/30 more than the same journey 10 weeks priore, so not note worthy for me. oh and thats petrol plus i had the extra bike/person over the first trip.

ive found from an issue with a CK headset you have to send it back to have new bearings fitted. Not followed it up yet as unsure if its back to the states or surplyer in the uk, would be handy to know as its a TI headset id like to use again :(.

Other thing to bare in mind is waiting times and even someone with awards in the industr the one I’m using on the south coast has nearly a 6 month waiting list due to being so good/sort after. When I had my first big one done I walked into a local place and with out even looking at the image I wanted as the main art the guy just said yeah we can do that when you want to book in!!! I said I’d let him know and walked out. Luckily after a net search I found Neil of tattoo fx and am due my second one in 6 days time. Good luck.
