Well for me as a rider/dog owner I can see where your coming from regards dog training! But if as it is stated they where speeding and going at such a rate that they A could not see a dog in in the trail a head and B where going so quick that they could not brake in time!! I recon it is clearly the riders fault. If it had been a child then I can probably guarantee that the riders would be getting prosecuted for something, but will get nothing for injuring a young dog!
Not really sure I’m making a point here! but I feel sorry for the dog on this one.

For me I like it and yes the clutch system is very nice indeed. I’ve got buddy’s who like it but are finding that there waring the chains and cassettes out very quick 600miles or so but then there not very pro cleaning so that could be why 😆
I’m quit a heavy fellow and I’ve broken two chains with out effort used 9speed quick links to fix no issue with them.
No people who run both 9/10 speed rings on the cranks but at a guess better shifting etc 10speed would be best and at least you only need new rings for your atlas cranks so that should help save a wee bit of money.
Ok only other thing I have seen is the tracer2 my lbs built one up just a week or so ago and there was an issue with crank alignment on a new xtr crank he reckoned that it needed a longer axel. It was a trail one 26/38 and only had about 2mm of space on the rear triangle and you could press the crank and touch it very easy and about 3 on the non side probable worth checking out anyway for peace of mind before you buy new or use old cranks etc.
ramble over and enjoy the new build which ever way you go.

Yep pretty sure it was a mid tune indeed, size wise think it was a 215×63 so that should be fine fitting is 22×8 mm for the bushings.

Had a 150/120fox talas on mine the longer set up never relly hindered climbing for me but I’m a slow plodder up hill anyway but do have to say the few times I used it at the shorter setting and forgot to pop it back up it was a flying machine downhill you could literally fly round trees and through stuff it did indeed Mach it a much more involving bike to ride that was for sure.
So yeah I recon your 130 set up would be a great compromise great frames too.

Buddy’s ride the velvets and I’ve been riding some vengences love em.

Ultimately I think you have to ask do you need a 150 travel bike, if your doing all your main riding on a hardtail then I would question that! My be a shorter travel full sus would be the way/compromise between sus/29er that you are looking at. If it was me and cotic is your brand then perhaps wait for there new 120 mm travel full sus which is said to be coming in the summer.

Also worth a good look are the xfusion velvets mates have got some and there very nice for the money.
I’ve got a set of the bigger vengeance and am very pleased with them very smooth and supple action good control through put the stroke and I believe there £400/£450 dependent on model etc.

Having gome around the houses myself with frames over the years, having started with santa cruz im now back and sticking with them! so for me id look at the blur LT or Nomad there out there second hand and going for sensable money. on anouther note i did have an alpine for a while great frame no dought but very hard work on the climbs for me very slack and woundery.

Thx guys for all of the above. To be fair I’m kinda doing most of the above. Most of the local clubs I’ve found to clicky for me and some have just gone by the by. Bike wise I have hardtail, full sus road and another full sus waiting to build up. All are set up differently to mix it up.
I think gritty shaker hit it n the head there’s more going on in my head! my be mid life crises with out the affairs, porches and will to go do an ironman! Thank god for the dog we got the last couple of years at least I’ve found new stuff to ride in my local area (south coast).
Regards all the other ideas I have/do most of the above trail centres every few months for a 3 day stint each time try to ride other areas etc and get out on he road bike. Do keep em coming though,iI did toy with the idea of getting an on one fatty bike just to really mix it and try something new really like the look of/idea of one.
    Thx again all

Mud a roots maxxis tyres, medusa rear swamp thing for the front is a great combo. Mind you all this is subjective to area and mud type etc. the above combo work great down here on the South Downs woods but with the clay mix type soil ardents and advantages are very poor, beaver is ok but a few of the lighter riders I go with found them a bit poor I’m running beaver rear and medusa front (I don’t mind the back end sliding but the front scares the crap out of me lol) I’m about to fit some of them there conti black chilli barons on to my hardtail 21%at wiggle at the minute ( thx mummy for xmas prezzi 😀 ment to be a good tyre, plus a bit of beef to them for the rear cross fingers there as good as they recon.

Hi buddy merry Xmas to,you. Can’t give a definitive answer, but I’ve just got as I’ve a second hand pair from a 2012 pitch I think there basic coil and rebound only and only done a few rides on them but I have gotta say there very nice smooth very controlled, I’ve got a couple of buddy’s who have the velvet 140 and there very nice for the money air of cause but supple as you like. All in all I have got to say I would go for it the 2013 versions are looking very nice with upgraded coatings on the stantions etc I will deffernatly consider them when I next change frames or bikes etc I for one am sick of spending crap loads of money on forks etc and not really getting anymore benefited from them my foxes re very harsh compared but then travel is 50 mm more and coil vs air etc. all in all worth a major consideration I recon.
Hope that ramble helps a bit lol

I think a few comments on this one are valid regards angles and travel etc. But having had a few hardtail frames in the last few years felt, ibis ,cotic and a couple of ragleys.
i have to agree with the masses the soul is probably the way forward for most riding, if you feel the need for a more travel style frame get a bfe and ajustable fork fox talas/uturn rockshox etc 150/120 this worked well for me on the bfe for all trail riding and weighed in at a good compromise of climbing/downhill at around 27lb dependant on tyres.
Comments on your other choices slackline, only had a quick go on a buddys at 6.3 tall it felt small to me! and his thoughs are its like a bmx quick handling on but very quick o the downhills great play bike.
The shan only seen the write up but it doeas look a nice frame something a tart like me would be interested in trying, my be next year 😀
    Good luck.
