At a Guess a straight swap. Only thing to do would be to get the crown race of your old fork and fit that to the new one.
Also consider your steerer length measure your old one and get one as close if not longer you can always get your local shop to cut it down and refit a new star nut. If the link is right you need a q/r version of any of the fork which I believe the ones I popped on there are.
To be fair any fork from the list would be a great improvement of the stock fork.
If new the recon gold on ebay has good reviews and is worth a look.

Nickel is a nice bike more active than the single pivot designs. Heavyer though as its made from the cheaper ally I had an xl, fox 140 forks complete xt and dt Swiss ex1750 wheels still came out over 30lbs. Rode stable but was a lump on the ups and to my mind not all down to weight it just felt cumbersome.

Most bike shops will let you road test a bike with the right id/ credit card etc if they have your size.
Check your local one if they have what you want! If not ring round.

Yep got a set of vengences here very much like them as above smooth controlled and about all most of use could ever need and a fair amount cheaper. Once I get riding again I will def be getting a set for my next hardtail build.

Yep just coming out of the same thing zero mojo to ride,I put a similar thread up in January and I’ve got say the best advice I can give is to just stop for a while and then just find some fun short rides plenty of singletrack etc, even if its only five mile ones a couple of times a week. For me I started to find the self imposed pressure to ride was getting to much combine that with riding buddy’s who are 10/15 years younger really messed with my head! Good luck with sorting it and I’m sure it will come back it has started for me.

Hello little boy. Why go hardtail why not try a full sus fame?? You could pick up a giant anthemx frame I’m sure for something like £350 that will take a 120 fork and there light and should help that old back of yours way more than a hardy tail.

A buddy of mine fitted an exposure light foot to the case all you need then is an exposure light mount.
Cheep if you already have the lights.

So I went out yesterday for my first ride on my fatty. So first things to note I’ve not ridden for 10weeks 😥 and I got that crappy chest/flu bug that’s going round so I’m way off par at the moment.
So the bike one one fatty, I’ve not ridden anything like this before and I picked it up on here a week or so ago once together it looks very nice seems to just look right only complaint as this is my second on one bike the Avid brakesare just poor im not gonna blame the seller as not only is this my second on one!its my third set of avid elixirs and they are crap every set have needed bleeding with in a few rides and these where the same, lever straight back to the bars very poor!!
So on with some formulas I have here and away I go.
So tyres set front at 9psi and rear at 10.5 straight out of the car park and into the trees and a little run down which I’ve done a hundred times before on to the fireroad left turn little up and it’s fun, turn right in to a rooty cross over mmmmm!
Right pop some air out these big boys and have a good cough (bloody chest) and up now it starts to make sense total grip bit bouncy but right. Right turn into some singletrack now it starts to open up and Blimey this thing rips, corners goes over rooty bits with ease such fun now the smile comes, now onto more fireroad climbs and back down into what we call the triple 3 sections of tight singletrack and in I go, fantastic it just wants to go and gets through and round some pretty tight sections with surprising ease.
So in summery even though I’m fat, unfit and still coughing like ansob, I enjoyed the few miles I did and looking forward to feeling better and doing more miles on it.
    So to finish of 😀

Having said all that what with angles and fork choices now I would only look at a newer style one as the older version is more of a all in trail/XC bike in my mind.

As most of the above have said def not a gate fit was fine and I had a reasonable amount of seat post on show.
I had a fox rp23 and it rode fine once set up but then I’ve ridden single pivots on and off for ten plus years and like there feel, mind I also like vpp so ont know if that helps 😀

I’m 6.3 with the same leg as you and rode an xl heckler with a 800 mm stem got a buddy who’s 5.11 and rides a lrg with a 70mm stem. I recon you’d be better of with an xl and go inline seat post and adjust the rest with stems. And as you’ve stated Santa Cruz do come up small for there sizing and the heckler in real terms is a 24inch top tube length.
If it where me go for it there great frames.
