Not long before I got ride of my 5 I put in some rear shox off set bushes from burgtec, made it handle very well dropped it down to 66deg on the head angle and of cause it dropped the bottom bracket, can’t remember by how much but it all seemed very stable and only £40 posted.

Troy lee shorts come up generous so worth a look if cost is not to much of an issue.

Worth pointing out my buddy’s just got the lrg Shan running a 35mm stem and he’s 5.9 but long leg to body 28 or 29 inch inside leg. He had a medium Shan before and found it to cramped in the top tube.

Yes mate. The ltd ed green and black one.
Can’t say for sure if I see any real improvement with the wheel size debate. A bit more grip my be a bit more speed on straighter stuff, and I’m only really noticing all of that, due to having to change my braking points on tracks I’ve ridden for a long time. Still it’s a cool looking bike and that’s what really matters

Top tube stand over is the same on all the frame sizes it’s really only the sea tube that gets longer! got the xl and still have about 30/35 mm of seat tube before you get to the seal/coller bit on a reverb. I also run a 40mm stem.
    I’m 6.3 with a 33in inside leg.
Great frame one of the best hard tail frames I’ve had.

You checked out production privee Shan? A lrg comes in about 24 and the xl comes in around 25 so plenty of room on them it does require a minimum 150mm fork though, but there a few second hand ones popping up in pink bike now as they’ve just released the new version with 27.5 wheel option.

My buddy has just got a spitfire and has turned in to a machine gone on the ups and downs very upsetting :D.
Regardless of the weight of the frame it could be worth looking at wheels to when you change as a lighter weigh wheel/tyre combo could make a huge difference. Giroscopic forces and all that.

Off set bushings I’d use burgtec ones.

Headset sounds right from memory. Fork wise they maxed at 140 mm travel which was pretty good when I had mine. Mind it’s a Heavy frame so don’t expect a light build. Was a good bike though so enjoy it.

    Maxis shorty!
Just fitted a set and trying tomorrow recon most of my local trails will be frozen so not sure I’ll be able to give a comparison as I ride barons too. But will try when I’m back ok.

Realistically £900 I’d say no! but then where still back to what is a 5 year old frame and geometry to XC by today’s standards. Long, low and slack is the order today. Not tall, steep and short which your frame is.
Keep the gears and brakes and just out the frame forks and wheels cheep.
I’m the same as you always have XL frames and have always had to suck it up and sell them cheeper than I want to!!
But I’m realistic I realise that being tall in the bike world is always against me when reselling.
Out it,out it, out it just get some cash back in the bike fund bank.
Sorry to be so blunt Renton I do feel for you.

I’d leave the colour more good money after bad etc.
also the eBay links you place’d are for complete bikes so they might command a higher value, if your a newish biker and are looking to move to a full sus spesh is a known brand! As apposed to boutique brands like turner.
I think you must realise some where in your head it’s time to cut your losses and out it at what eve the price now
Just put it up for £300 posted and see what happens.

Yep same as everyone else it’s old tec/geometry by today’s bikes standards, I almost bought an xl 5spot that was 2012 new geo tapered head tube etc for what you want for your frame around 8 months ago, but I’d just got a good deal on a orange 5 which had a slightly longer TT.
If it was me frame £300 frame fork £450 just to get some cash back.
    Good luck buddy.

Is the frame had tail or full sus? If full sun you not looked at bushings for the rear shox?

Yeah think it comes in about 65/65.5 Dave with 160 travel forks. I’d love the enduro wheels but I’m a biffa so best stay with wheels with a bit more weight to them. Mind you not to sure how the race race turbines are going to hold up but favarible reviews seem to think there up to the job plus I got them at a good price so no harm no foul. Only real complaint is they’ve stopped doing the cut out head badge with the mesh! which I’ve got on my gulf 917 coloured frame, oh well :-)

I would certainly look in to dropper posts first though since its seat tube is only 18.6 inches ks do the longest posts I know with a 150mm drop and a 435 total length if you’ve got long legs it could be an issue!

As above 26 Shan is epic to ride by far the best hard tail frame I’ve ridden and I’ve risen a fair few now in 20plus years of riding.
Regards the 27.5 Shan there not released till later this month, so your going to have to wait a couple of weeks for a review of one of them. Which cross fingers I might be able to do if it arrives on time.
