    @esselgruntfuttock
    – yes please! I recently got a ninja foodi and really fancy trying a tandoori style curry, so any recipes/ tips welcomed

So here’s to you, Mr @IHN, as I can’t believe no one else (at least on the functional first page) picked up on your follow on to the glorious thread title.

When I was gigging I got a set of ACS Custom. Got one set of plugs and a second set for some IEMs from the same mould, second set were way cheaper which was nice though maybe not relevant for you.

I tried a bunch of different plugs, and none were as comfortable for a few hours than the custom moulded ones.

You don’t need the phone with you. I track (with GPS) runs and rides on my AW4. Can either use the Strava app or the apple activity app. Uploads the ride/run to the phone for upload to cloud when I get home.

We’ve moved ourselves about 20 miles up the road, and also had removals do it 150 miles.

I would never move myself again, that took a whole day 9am to 9pm and three trips. Removals guys showed up at 7am, were away by 10, at the new place by 3 and unloaded by 5. Worth every penny.

Contrary to the recommendations for several quotes, I went with a smaller local firm who had a multitude of great recommendations from people in the area. Didn’t bother looking elsewhere. They were the best money I spent in the whole house buying process.

@Cougar surely the more expensive ones just have more features? Mine has two drawers, fries, roasts, some kind of extra crispy setting, some fancy timing thing etc. I’d imagine if I paid half as much I’d just get one drawer and air fry mode. How wrong could you go, as someone said, it’s a heating element and a fan right?

I knew a guy who used to drive to within a few miles of the airport, find a street with free parking, park up and call a taxi.

We replaced a draughty window recently but only as it’s in our toddlers room so better for keeping the temp a bit more consistent. It must be about 1.7m x 1.2m and was £600. I can’t see that being financially efficient for saving on heating bills.

FWIW though that was fitted about 6 weeks after order. We also got a replacement double glazed unit for another window that was cracked. That cost way less than £100 for what I would consider a normal sized window (the bit that opens). Was also fitted in under two weeks.

Having just bought a Cotic using C2W and gone around the houses with budget, I found them to be extremely flexible in what they would sell me outside of what you can configure in the website. I figure even if it costs you a bit more than buying everything separately, the ability to buy a handful of random bits with the frame and get it all in the voucher is worth paying extra for. Plus you get a big discount anyway right?

Not sure if this will work. T’s and C’s say this:

    • The offer only applies to customers who received a dedicated email or who have been shown a banner ad to promote the offer and clicked on the banner advertisement

Also voucher only valid until 15th September on purchases over £30.

    Had a go anyway…

I have intune on my personal M1 mac which I use for work. Not had any problems, can’t imagine there would be any problems with it in a vm running Mac OS. You can even (just about) run windows for arm to get those few windows only apps (looking at you, Visio).

Have a set of hope floating rotors on my road bike using 6 bolt to centre lock adapters. Work fine, never come loose.

I have a set of horizon cs and found the cleat part great, but the frame is angled in a weird way that made it not contact the soles of my (admittedly old xc) shoes. So now they sit in a box as I may as well just use a cheap pair of spds with no pedal frame.

@elnevera my cassette is for a standard HG freehub. Did have a bit of a brain fart and thought you had SRAM crankset. HTII is Shimano’s hollow tech 2 BB. If you moved to SRAM crankset you’d need a new BB. Looks like the crankset on that groupset would need a SRAM DUB BB. I think it’s not uncommon when converting to 1x to retain the existing crankset and fit a narrow-wide chainring to it. Saves needing new crankset + BB.

Can I say BB any more?

Is it a 2019 or 2020 model? I have just stripped apart a MY20 X-Caliber 8 (bought in 2019) which had a 1×12 SRAM SX Eagle drivetrain. BB was a Truvativ Powerspline thing which I tried to replace once or twice and could never find stock.

I could be persuaded to part with shifter, derailleur, cassette and cranks, or some combination if useful.

There’s Beeston Castle nearby which is well rated if you want to continue looking at hill forts. Supposedly a steep trek up though.

I had a Tado system at the last house. It was great. Had location awareness so I rarely had to turn it off, we set a schedule and if no one was home when hearing or water was supposed to be on, it would just not come on.

Had a box to replace the programmer and a thermostat to replace the wall thermostat. Wiring was pretty straightforward – their support will help if you send them a load of pics and tell you what to wire where.

Now have a hive system as it was already in the new house. It’s fine I guess but the lack of location awareness is annoying (when I go out it prompts me to turn off the heating but I wish it just did it automatically).

I’ve had an Asgard 29er shed for about 6-8 weeks now. Was concerned about the need for a perfectly level base. Decided to just try building it on the rather poorly laid Indian sandstone paving – took a bit of shuffling about but eventually found a position where it didn’t wobble about and seems fine.

I’d do as you suggested, build as much on patio as possible, then shore up the rest – I’d personally just use some chunky council pavers with a bit of gravel underneath and a gravel board at the front to stop it from escaping.

My ring doorbell only alerts my phone when the button is pressed. It does however capture and record (video and audio) and motion. So if you walk onto my drive, have a chat to yourself and leave, I’ll be able to view and listen to it later. I don’t want the false positives that come with having a shorter drive so don’t have the alerting on.

My Nan gets alerts on her phone and chime to all motion so could talk to you while you’re wandering around out front.

I’ve only used the talk feature once when I was ‘unable to reach the door’ – just to say I’m here please don’t take my parcel away with you.

Have a 2015 6, hopefully I can clear some things up.

    1. AA/Carplay ‘upgrade’ cost me I think about £200/£250. This involves replacing the USB module in the central storage compartment, and upgrading CMU firmware to the right level. Has to be done right otherwise you can brick the CMU. It’s totally doable yourself if you can source the part (I can grab the P/N off my module if you need). It’s very worth it. WAY better than using your phone directly.

    2. Nav SD card is locked to the CMU. If you can source a CMU and nav card from a breakers then it’s a simple swap over, remove your CMU and go.

My CMU died a year or so ago, I had nav previously, paid for the CarPlay upgrade (subsequently never used nav). Got a new CMU off eBay, got an original USB module, so I could perform the upgrades required to get the CarPlay module working again, but the nav doesn’t work anymore cos the SD card I have doesn’t work with the new CMU. I assume Mazda could sort but I really don’t care.

Good point on the sizes, I hadn’t noticed that.

We were in a similar position of having loads of ‘stuff’ already. We came up with a bunch of activities and things we wanted to do on our honeymoon, and added them to an online list so while yes people were giving us money, they knew what it was going to be used for and it meant we could do a few more things together on the trip than we would otherwise have been able to.

@Flaperon – aylesbury does have some plus points. I miss the 12 supermarkets within a 10 mins drive.

Mine would be Paris, though I do have a soft spot for Munich.

    @Flaperon

Yes, someone chatting on a phone at low speed on a bike poses minimal risk, probably. But so does someone doing the same in a car.

Someone texting while doing 20+mph poses a rather bigger risk. If you hit an elderly person at that speed they’re hardly going to walk away from it. ‘Using the phone while riding’ covers quite a wide range of things, some are dangerous, some are not. Best to just not do it altogether.

Love horizon 5, hate the online experience. I’ve actually done very little racing in this one, spent more time cruising round doing challenges.

You can pretty much guarantee that if I’m not playing halo or other with mates, I’ll be on horizon.

Back in the old days when I actually had to leave home to do work, I’d take a kindle, walk into the nearest town (because you could almost guarantee the cheapest premier inn was way out of the centre), find myself a pizza express or similar and spend 60-90 minutes reading and slowly eating.

I’ve been known to visit the cinema on my own to.

And if I can guarantee half decent internet I would take my Xbox.

Worst case, 6 hours on the bed reading.

I started asking for airbnbs instead as it was cheaper and usually better. Do my own cooking, eat better, sit on a comfy sofa, watch tv etc etc. just like being at home but without the children.

Anyone have any experience using spray.bike? Wondering how durable it is as painting my daughters balance bike could be quite a fun spring project/ test before doing my roadie. But it’s going to get bashed about!
