Put a flap in the side door to the garage for ours back in march, a week before we were away. She’s a confident outdoorsy cat but always comes home to sleep and eat. Could not get her to use the cat flap on the way in. Absolutely no way. Left her inside a few times and she will always just go out through it but refuses to go back in.

She has a wee outdoor shed box she prefers.

    Stupid clever animals.

Cutting a hole in the house – that cat is never gonna use it

Have you tried the clingfilm over the bowl method?
All you are looking for is a vaccum and push to forced anything in there all the way through.

Wrap a few layers over the top, give it a flush and when it stretches up like a dome give it a solid push down and it should force it through.

I’ve had this. Mine was the plastic Washer/seal that the freehub contacts on when back in the hub body. It’s made of real hard plastic. This piece is always light rubber on other hubs I’ve used. I’ve cleaned it up and made sure it’s well lubricated and it solved the slack chain for me

Depending on your aversion to SPortsdirect and M.Ashley:

    Have had both.
Bikehut is very very bright but 50% of the light is going up in the air. And it blinds drivers coming the other way.
It also died on me on an unlit country road unexpectedly. No warning.
    Got a refund.

    Bought the ravemen.
Never looked back. Better in every way except the price.

barrykellet – I never knew that I wish I had not put the too small ones back now

You could use a fish grabber on the lip to help unhooking or barbless hooks to shake them off without touching.

Apparently the science says skin damage interfering with their ability to maintain osmotic balance is the problem

Sorry to tell you – but any mackeral you handle and put back is desitined to a fairly rapid death. Catch and release doesnt work if you touch their skin.

Next up is Taylor-2 – 30 seconds VO2Max, 30 seconds rest … repeated 14 times! There’s three blocks of those. I’ll see if I think my FTP is too low after that.

Taylor -2 is only 0.83 IF
    It’s pretty easy in truth.

a while back, strava started using the calculated calories from devices, how they calculate that is up to the device. I had the same issue with my old Garmin edge 500. Its way out, but probably the other way. Giving me 350kcals for an hours commute. Strava estimated watts and KJ were far closer to the real figure (Based on also using a PM a lot on the same routes/times/efforts)
    I just quit using MFP.

I tried uploading to Training peaks and using that to sync with MFP instead but it didn’t make any difference.

    I went from a 44mm to 51mm on a 100mm XC bike
I could immediately tell there is a difference. I never could actually make my mind up what the difference is though. And the longer I have spent on the 51mm the less I remember what the 44mm was like.

    Have had that creak.
It was the axle in the rear hub. Interface with the bearings mustn’t have been micron tight and it was completely dry. Greased it up and solved it.

After spending weeks chasing every other part of the bike

Discs and suspension are pointless whether he wants them or not.

Agree with you re suspension. Disagree with you re discs. Worth it for the minimal maintenance compared to rim brakes, before you even take into account the better performance.

Both are irrelevant though, it’s going to be his bike and he should get a say. I get to pick what OOT, unnecessary tech goes on my bike, why shouldn’t he?

Yea, ok. Neither are pointless. But good 24″ suspension isn’t cheap and not really in the budget?
Discs are great, but in reality so are decent V-Brakes. I suppose it comes down to how much use it gets. I know my youngster is coming up to 9 years old and already outgrowing her HOY. She would have a good 12 months at most left on it. She doesn’t do rides more than an hour. She rides some decently technical and steep trails. Maybe she just doesn’t have the gung-ho fearlessness of a wee mad boy of the same age but she has coped admirably on the rigid fork and rim brakes.

We do have a self build project in progress though with fancy suspension, tubeless, disc brakes and potentially even a carbon seat post… 650b though.

Your lad sounds like he knows his (dads) gear. Mine doesn’t want what she doesnt know much about.

    ANYHOW
Would this not fit him? Its only 2″ per wheel!

Great Geometry and light. Goes uphill and downhill better than anything else for the money and for a lot of bikes costing more money.

    XC racing in Ulster.
    £15 adult entry fee.
    £2 for my under 10
£1 for my Under 6 fun racer.

They both have an annual race licence, costing £9. Though that rose from £5 last year. I was apoplectic about an 80% increase in a childs licence fee but looking at the price of what some of you are paying for a race entry, I will just pipe down now.

Cyclocross is even cheaper as the adult entry fee was £12 last year.

The power of a regional body organising the series and member clubs running the races is massive.

    Following this.
Not too many online retailers seem to have a good option list of such forks.
Merlin cycles for example have a grand total of zero 100mm 29er forks from any manufacturer.

German sites seem best. But offers and bargains are few and far between that I have seen.

If this is a weight loss strategy, you need to consider the fatigue of the intense duration.
You could do a long easy ride every day, but a very intense session could lead to less riding time over the duration of a week for example.

Exercise as a weight loss technique isn’t the way to go btw

If you are struggling, just pedal faster, against all your instincts.
The faster the wheels are turning the easier it is.
Focus on a spot quite a bit further ahead than your front wheel.
Relax your body, try and remember it is exactly like riding a bike.

The 1hr on Overdrive is 100% accurate.

Misty dank night last night with fogged up a bit glasses so ran it full beam. Until suddenly it was like being pitched into darkness on the emergency setting. After my eyes adjusted i could see white lines and cateyes reflecting but it is a serious change in illumination. You couldnt see potholes etc.
I hadnt actually looked before to see how long overdrive lasted.

Dick – had the same problem with the rubber spacer on the out front mount. Its a real ball ache to squeeze close enough to get the bolt to bite

Got it on eventually using vice grips to close the thing up and turn the bolt in

    Stress. Like wallop says.

Training stress, work stress, home stress, all the same when it comes to increasing Cortisol levels.
Higher Cortisol levels = higher insulin levels.

Lift weights and back off the bike training for a while now its off season
