Ordered one for collection yesterday and got confirmation. Just had the e-mail to say “sorry, we can’t fulfill your order”

    Ah well.

There is a direct connection between these two cars-anyone know what it is? (Apart from the fact I owned both I mean)

    @jimw Both designed by Giugiaro

    Great thread btw

    In 1989 I bought a 1979 MK3 Ford Capri 1.6L.

Beige with low back beige tartan seats.

I can remember the reg number of every car I’ve ever owned for some reason. This one was TWM148V

My eldest brother had a Capri 2.8i at the time and I thought “well, it must be a bit the same”. Er, no.

I’ve only ever been on a motorbike twice, both times as passenger so it has to be these.

My Uncle used to be a mine manager out in the Yukon. I’ve never actually watched Ice Road Truckers but if it i is anything like the tales he used to tell then life is very very tough out there. I really wish I’d had more chance to talk to him about his exploits before he died.

Not particularly exciting, but it means I can get on with finishing the build on my 1980 road bike with its lovely Vitus 172 steel frame.

    19mm seat post bolt.

Managed to get 4 for my 16 year old son and 3 of his mates. He is very happy.

Missed out on Friday and Saturday but got some for the “oh look we’ve sold out lets put on another night” Sunday show.

I used to have a 3dr manual. Superb car. Get one.

Averaged 29 mpg over 30,000 miles, and that was driving pretty much everywhere like my tail was on fire because that’s how they make you drive when you’re young and foolish.

Also, I much prefer the cloth in the GTI over the leather. The tartan is a nod back to the original MK1 GTI and I like that. As mentioned up there, MJ Interiors have a very very good reputation, some of their custom work is outstanding.

I bought This one from eBay Bright enough for what we needed, lights the rear steps and bins nicely

I like this in the description.

Solar Powered (powered by the sun)

Do people really need the meaning of Solar Powered explaining?

Socialising with colleagues isn’t something I would normally get involved in but our company Christmas do is very good.

Private function suite in an historic old building that is superb. Everyone is invited, from the Chairman right through to all the site lads, plus partners.

All paid for by the company including 5 course meal, free bar all night and hotel accommodation or taxis home.

I hope the OP’s kid got them all sold

As it happens the last set of 5, obviously really unpopular, went only last week.

And, no, I don’t get WWE either.

I got mine direct from SJCAM. They have UK stock and it was delivered in 3 days. Same price, within a pound or so, as eBay. Priced in dollars but no issues at all.

Careful with the Ibuprofen. I took loads (within recommended dosage) when my back went about 4 years ago. Eased my back but screwed my stomach up, which still isn’t right now.

A 16v from a Mk2 would be temping, but I believe that means trying to find the rare right-hand intake manifold from a Sirocco 16v which is almost mythical it’s so rare.

This was always seen as the purist’s way of fitting the 16v in a MK1 but as you say they are very rare. It’s straightforward to fit a standard MK2 16v though, I had one in my MK1. Makes for a very quick little car.

It’s not a real sport unless you need to either change or remove your shoes.

I agree. If you can compete at the highest level wearing flip-flops it isn’t a sport. With the added corollary, that if it is judged on style it isn’t a sport.

Modern Radio on Derby Street in Bolton is a real old-school shop for obscure electronics bits and pieces. I think they do repairs but if not chances are they will know someone who can. They aren’t particularly local to you but not too far really.

Last Sunday I found something really promising. Then it looked less promising, then less still, then I ended up being shot

I read that with a full stop after “shot”. That would have been a really bad day out!

Just to muddy the waters further, they were shooting a promotional video the day we arrived and they required you to opt-out rather than in – which I thought required a model release form.

But while you’re with us, you may spot a TV camera or professional photographer. They could be shooting photos or video for us, or filming a TV show. They could be shooting anywhere on the park but we’ll try to make sure the filming doesn’t affect your holiday and that you always know what’s going on.
With this agreement, you give us the rights (free of charge) to anything containing your image (or the image of the other people with you) that’s made while you’re with us. (This doesn’t affect your own photos or videos of course!) So if you don’t want to be in shot, please try to stay away from the filming area. And if you or someone in your family does stray into a photo or video without meaning to, we’ll do our best to remove the image from our library, but we won’t pay you any fees as a result.

Also from Haven website T and Cs

I thought the section about corners was good and take a more than is healthy interest in them now. I participate in a football forum and there are normally sensible folk on there who just will not accept it.

No, however I am concerned by bearnecessities suggestion that a packet of opened chocolate hobnobs can be closed with biscuits still inside. Surely all the hobnobs get eaten in one go and the empty packet placed in the bin?

nice Mk1 build, I miss the two that I had, mate had a wonderful lhd Mk1 16v

Was that lhd one a conversion or one of the French Oettinger 16s ones? Rare as rocking horse **** if it’s an Oettinger.

As a disgruntled Bolton fan I hope Bournemouth enjoy next season but it can be a hard slog. Bolton were completely outclassed last night.

Oh, and that Charlton tweet – saw it last night, brilliant.

    Lovely looking MK1 there.

Still miss mine 15 years after selling it. Fitted with the 1800 16v from a MK2, coilovers, Corrado interior etc. Very fast and great fun.

Another recommendation for Awesome GTI. Not the cheapest but facilities and service are second to none.

They’ve been around a good while and are very well respected. I’ve been going to them since 1990 with various modified and standard GTIs but they will happily work on anything VAG.
