    I think he’s one of the all-time greats!…….

My cousin had the first FRS:

A fantastic car! Point to point a quicker, more fun (and more skill required) car than the well modified Impreza I had at the time and the one he had prior to the RS. All that crap that Clarkson spouted about it (that is often taken as gospel by those whom have never driven one) is just that! Yes, you did feel the diff working away but if you believed him, it’s sole purpose on the car was to drive you off the road.
My cousin went to the launch of the new RS and said it is stunning in the metal (especially in the green.) He seriously considered one but went for a 997 instead! Swine!
Someone on my shift has one on order and expects it to be delivered mid/late April. I look forward to having a go.

Not many of me actually on the bike as it’s my camera that’s used most of the time.
    At Laggan (on the right):

As for posh…I made an effort on my wedding day (on the left :D ):

I’m in between Dundee and Perth so not too far.
I’m 5’9″ and ride a medium but could have got away with a small. It is longer than my 18″ ‘Dale and Med. Stumpy but nothing major.
My email is in my profile, if you find yourself in the area get in touch and if I’m not working the bike is here for you to try.

The bike looks a bit better now (imo) with the addition on gold lock-ons, gold brake lever blades, a brown Charge spoon and de-stickered wheels.
I have the ‘basic’ ‘Willow and as such have no pro pedal or lock out options but to be honest I don’t find it too ‘bobby’ (perhaps more than my Stumpy right enough) but I feel if you’re not too heavy a rider the air transfer can help balance the ride out.

Where in the world are you? If you’re near by then you’re more than welcome to have a ride on mine.

    I have one:

When I read about them the first thing I thought was ‘Gimmick’ however when I saw them at Laggan Demo Day I felt compelled to give it a try. I was very impressed! quite Germanic in it’s design and engineering and point to point it’s a quicker bike than my Stumpy FSR despite being slightly heavier.
The air transfer system is ingenious, simple to use and easily maintained. It’s well worth a try.
    But……there’s always a but….
My experience of their aftersales leaves a lot to be desired. first of all, when my bike was delivered it was packed so poorly that the frame was damaged. It was returned by the dealer however it took Bionicon a month to get another out to me. They gave me a pair of shorts for my trouble.
The second is still ongoing (5 months on.) Not long after getting the bike I put bike tape on to protect it (as I have with my other 5 bikes) although when I went to reposition the tape the lacquer peeled away with it and then flaked off after that. I had the paint assessed by a couple of paintshops and they were of the opinion that the finish was of a poor quality with very poor adhesion. Bionicon weren’t interested and the most they can do is offer me a jacket for my troubles. Despite being advised to pursue it I can’t be bothered so am having it resprayed to the colour and quality I’m happy with.
It’s a shame as it’s soured the ownership of what I otherwise consider to be a very good bike.

Yup, a firm date would be good.
The April w/end I can make however I’m nightshift the following Fri, Sat so could make the Sunday if it’s not too early a start.

(that said, at this present time the Saturday ride may be out of my comfort zone :D)

would a Hammer Schmidt go on that?
Something different. I like it. As is often the case here, if you go for something out of the norm and do not conform then it’s rubbished straight off.

Maybe you all need some more coaching in risk assesment, leading groups and managing risks (on the trail)?

I’ll make do with having fun thanks. We get enough of that p*sh at work! :D
A fall can be a slip, trip or a full blown crash. Not all are near death experiences caused by better riders throwing newbies off cliftops.

It must be the fact that the gravitational pull around here is double that of the rest of the planet.
We went out as a group to have a laugh and a fun time. loads of banter and not 100% concentration on the riding. Perhaps I should have said Every time pur group went out there’s a fair chance someone would have a fall. Whatsmore we’d laugh it off and not spend the rest of the ride getting hung up on the fact not everyone there is a world class rider. :D

He had done worse before and a lot more technical. We frequented Dunkeld where he attacked everything with gusto. He had practiced the techniques on the smaller slab type obstacle prior to the big’un. Only 5 of us did it that day so there was no peer presure there for him to do it. He’s just a very determined guy.
He was told on several occasions that there was no need to do it. We were there for some time (there was a lot of editing there) He wasn’t the one with the SPDs (the first and last tumbles were). Every time a group goes out there’s a fair chance someone will have a fall Sid was just unfortunate when it came to the result.

Sid did bounce back well though (s’cuse the pun.) Aye, Sid was one of our gaffers.
His golfing is now back on track however he’s noo longer allowed out on his bike. LOL @ a 50 year old being told off by his wife and not getting out to play :D
He was getting good prior to the off. He would give anything a gobut knew his limits. He has done more severe drops but I just think the anticipation of the moment got him. He was determined to do it and fair play to him for giving it a go.

Don’t feel quilty. He’s used to it now. :D At least he’s away now. I still have ‘weight back, weight back’ written on my locker door and tally on a regular basis. I’m going to have to do something to supercede it to keep things fresh :D

*Sorry njee20, I didn’t see the link to the second vid. I’m still an idiot with a helmet cam though :D

The hardy ol’ bugger sat in a car all the way back to Perth with a shattered shoulder!
This is what happened to his forks at the bottom of the slab:

    8O

The turnip at the end was using SPDs for the first time that day. No one told him the tension could be adjusted on them :D

I am the idiot with the helmet cam on. I’m sorry your life was so wasted.
Sid returned to his work 1 year on on light duties then operational again then retired not too long afterwards.
He has a substantial amount of titanium in his shoulder now.
We had the cyclescheme at work which encouraged a lot of guys out on their bikes and indeed got me back out enjoying riding again.
Months! fooking months I had folk at work stating that when doing x,y or z I should have my weight back! :D There’s nothing worse listening back to your making a fanny of yourself :D
    All good fun!

Another thing to try if you like your interesting flavour combinations is a pineapple and chili sorbet with foie gras. A nice starter.
It probably shouldn’t really work but is very nice indeed!

I could be interested in this. I’ll have to check my rota card and get back to you.
The last time I was up Clova was for a wedding and we stayed in one of the lodges. It’s great up there!
Which ride? hmm, It’ll depend on me getting my finger out and boosting my fitness again.
    I’ll be in touch.

I’m in the process of deciding on an elise or an exige. I went for an impreza turbo a few years back instead of an elise and I’ve regreted ever since. I must admit, I’m not a fan of the colour of the Type 49 but quite nice to have such a limited run.
I’ve been researching bike mounts for the above cars and the exige seems to be a no go but there are some interesting things out there for the elise.

    My most recent bike:

I’ve now spec’d this for my wife:

Keep thinking about selling this but I think I’ll hold off for the next cyclescheme and get a new hardtail as a replacement:

One of my road bikes (I also have a Spesh Allez)

    Nothing is ‘Retro’
    It’s just old, nothing more.
