You may find it just needs a hoover out as that's what Dicon have found with many that my brigade has returned.
Any doubt though get a new one fitted. Glad they're sorting it out.
    We love fitting those things……

Has to be 2 or 3 riding buddies needing the same? Yeah, bulk buy to me means one or two more than 3 or 4 😀
I shop at Costco for that very reason. 😀

Buy the 24 pack and sell it outside your local Halfords! Then with the profits go in and buy 3 or 4 tins from them. 😀

A change of eating habits only really. Not done much in the way of exercise mainly due to a promotion at work which has left me with no time in the gym.
Must get my finger out! Could have lost a lot more by now.

Aldi or Lidl do them every so often. Usually around the £5 -10 mark. I've had 4 or 5 of them. Eventually went and bought a 'good' one. Happened to be in Escape Route and saw a Giant branded one that I ended up getting for £30 or so and you can instantly notice a difference. I've a feeling this one will last a hell of a lot better!
Worth paying good money for stuff in the long term.

Wont be able to make it as we're doing 10 Under the Ben on the 15th.
Would have liked to have done it though.

Not a line per se but I can't hear 'Ghost Town' by The Specials without having wee laugh to myself 😀

I bought SealSkinz Mountain Bike Glove 09 for the 'Puffer and my wife bought Gore Countdown Lady Winter Cycling Gloves. She was very disappointed with how they performed whereas I was really pleased with mine.

I'm sheiting through the eye of a needle and have been throwing up most of today so as much as I'd love to (everything is in the fridge) But I don't think it would be a 'glorious sight' 😮

That was written by our adopted team member Dan ('the lonely puffer' on here)
He met us in his Lifeboats van so I just assumed he worked full time for them however he is in actual fact a BBC employee.
He put in a great shift with consistant 1 hour laps the rest of us were the week links!
I see he used my pics too 😀 Thats my wife heading up the fire road at 0600hrs.
A nice wee report on a great event!
Was a pleasure to have you on the team Dan.

    Cheers

I best get in and spend the vouchers I've had sitting here for a couple of years!

It will happily release itself! As I found out half way round Glentress.

I found it to be a 2mm allen key iirc. I've since put a dab of thread lock on them.

My wife has been waiting since mid September for her Giant CRS Alliance! We've waited less time on new cars! Apparently most of Giant's carbon 2010 stuff has been delayed ( struggling to meet demand following lowering production due to recession ) but it really is taking the piss now! I've asked the shop to chase up Giant for some form of compensation in the form of carbon stem, bars, post sort of stuff but we'll see how that goes.

    Exactly.
He fell off, we've all done it many times. He took a sore one and his employers no doubt wanted him checked out.
I know if I was injured / concussed on duty my employers would make sure I was checked out and then they would send me home with no option to go back. He showed up again, took the banter and enjoyed the event as we all did irrespective of how many laps we did.
    Fair play to him.

He clearly enjoys the event and everything it's about which makes him like most others there. It just so happens he's on the telly and is getting paid to do it and that puts him on a pedestal that many would like him to fall from. (pardon the pun)
A very good reply from him to pre empt anyone calling for it to be stopped due to H&S or the likes.
It's also good of him to admit he just plain wasn't good enough…unlike my girly wife who cycled past him lying there whilst on her first ever ride in the snow ever. 😀

Really proud of Mrs McGrew. This was her first time riding in snow, first ever night ride and first ever event.
She managed 4 laps in our team of 4 (which ended up a 3 as of 2300hrs.)
    Girl did good!

Do a lap each then sit about and have a laugh with the occasional lap thrown in now and again for good measure 😀
I hope I haven't ruined our chances of a win giving our tactics away like that! 😮 😉

    Another one singing praises here.
Last min order due to not being able to find my waterproof trousers whilst packing for the Strathpuffer.
Ordered yesterday 1300hrs and arrived up in deepest darkest Scotland 0800hrs today!
That said JE James stuff just arrived too.

    Lonely Puffer,

We've had one of our team members pussy out on us so I'm waiting on hearing back from a few folk at work but I doubt any of them will say yes. Having asked them I'd better give them a chance to say no! 😀
We are not (I repeat NOT) going to be competitive in any way, shape or form. For one reason or another it's been 2 months since any of us have been out on our bikes so we're going purely to enjoy the whole thing.
Either way I'll drop you an email tomorrow.

    Cheers

I just got a Vango Orchy 400 for the 'puffer and put it up tonight for the first time. Very impressed with the quality (for the money-£130) so that for £100 is a great buy.

A guy that works with my wife has a daughter in hospital awaiting the amputation of 3 of her toes due to going out on the town of a Saturday evening in open toed shoes but she looked great when she was out I'm sure…. 😕

This'll be my first 'Puffer (first event of any type actually) and not too sure what to expect at all really. A meet up would be good. I've not booked any accommodation for the night before so knowing where's good to go for something to eat and drink may appease the wife somewhat! 😀 It doesn't help that one of the team does have a hotel room but hey, she's got a fancy new tent and sleeping bag to stay in!
Again, we'll be easily recognisable, we'll be the team of 4 consisting of 3 people 😡 🙄 who haven't been on our bikes for 2 months! I'll be scratching my head trying to pitch my tent dressed in full fire kit 😀

Great news that it's going ahead!
Not so great news that one of the team has backed out now! 😡 Everyone else I've asked has said something along the lines of "Are you 'kin mad? There's no way I'm doing that"
And further bad news is that I had to tell the wife that I'd left it too late and the Ben Wyvis Hotel was fully booked 😯 I'm popular! 😀

An update on the Strathpuffer site:

" We've had a lap of the course today (Sun 10th) and there's a lot of walking! we could shorten the course (less walking but Quicker laps maybe) or leave it as normal…….decisions, decisions!

Anyway, its looking good either way, all the forest access roads are clear. "

Good shout on the beer bucket. Good work guys.

A few more Strathpuffer questions from me. Sorry.
I am heading up a team of 4, I am considering a tent (for living in) and gazeebo (for working under) How much space does each team get away with? I'm looking to buy the tent this week and I'd hate to buy something too big and have the rest of the people rolling their eyes at us 🙂
Looks like we're going to be staying in the hotel the night before so will it the case where we will get the opportunity to pitch up on Friday then go off and stay in the hotel and return to our tent (if we can find it under the fresh 3ft fall of snow 😀 )the morning of the race?

    Cheers

Mrs McGrew is a Chemistry teacher and suggests you look here and look at number 24.
She says it'll give you a good start without giving you the answers.

I've got a couple of sets and I also have the £50 from DealExtreme.
They are really well designed and made. The split beam can be useful but on the pure power output the cheap and cheerful light wins.
That said the Ay-Ups give me more than enough light for XC riding.
They need to get a UK supplier again! That would make them a much better prospect.

I'd just like to add that this is the first time I've had any delay from them and received an email with a no. to call but just thought I'd post here.

    Ah, seeing as you're here… 🙂
Are you likely to get Sealskins stuff (socks and gloves) back in before the 'Puffer?
I ordered back on the 27th of Dec (showed in stock at time of order)and only just got mail from you yesterday stating they were out of stock.
