What else do I need?!!

A tuner (or at least, know what the notes are so she can tune it to/from the piano).

I’ve got two pairs of these DHB padded roubaix 3/4s and they work great.

£43 a throw.

Haven’t tried the Raphas but I do like their sportwool jerseys, clean quality that fits brilliantly.

Scandal is really light, agile and has an expensive-feeling ‘spring’.
I much prefer it to my Inbred which I find heavy, dead and boring.

Thanks very much to all.
Some useful thoughts and pointers there, and hardly any piss-taking, very unusual for STW.

I’ve a clearer idea of what will suit her now and we’re going to the LBS on Friday for a mooch.

Sorry for late response – Surf Maroc.
They are the best by far and cope as well with total beginners as they do expert surf safaris.
They have a great yoga centre and can sort any level of accommodation.

Any time over winter is best, although summer can be good for novices as the waves are smaller.

@ neninja

I can’t picture this…
do you just stretch the tube over the top of the tyre and leave it there as a ‘constraint’ on the central part of the deflated tyre whilst you pump it up?
ta.

Congratulations ‘muddydwarf’!
I followed this with interest as I had thr same problem – I tried all the tricks suggested here by mine is still not working 🙁

The feed pipe to the rad does not get hot at all (even with boiler on max and all other rads off).

Cold rad is closest to the combi boiler (small flat, only 5 rads in total).
I know this thread’s been done to death but if anyone has any further thoughts we’d all be MASSIVELY grateful…

Remove core, rub a good blob of vaseline over it and work into thread.
Works a treat.

Does a unicycle qualify as a fixie?
It’s probably allowed as long as it’s not accompanied by ironic knitwear or spray-on jeans right?

Don’t worry, it’s not a 29er uni, so the wheel won’t explode or anything.
Might stick an inflatable dinghy in my backpack so I can float home if we get the tides right.

I’ve really sorted this as I had a load of gear that had lost it’s DWR…

after normal wash, stick in sink with 250-300ml of Nikwax Tech Wash/garment and ‘hand-hot’ water (more than they recommend).
give it a good sloshing around, then rinse thoroughly, twice.

when still wet, spray on Nikwax TX Direct
(you only really need to do this on the arms/shoulders/seat pad/exposed areas)
wipe off excess with wet cloth.

then bung in tumble dryer on a low set for 10-15 mins or until it feels almost dry, then dry normally.

if you follow this you will transform your kit – I’ve done it with all my biking and sailing gear and it’s transformed.

Better to be out there, wishing you in here, rather than unable to get out there.

Adventure AT3.
About £150 rrp. Bought 2nd hand off here and dragged it round Brecons last week with 3 and 1 year old.
Totally brilliant bit of kit.
Kids loved it – warm and dry.
Works brilliantly, highly recommended.

Mail me if you want some pics or more info.

hi,

I’m taking my bike to Tghazout at Christmas.
I’ve been surfing there for several years as my brother-in-law set up Surf Maroc a while ago.

I’ve never taken the bike, so it will be a bit of an experiment but there are some decent hills near the surf camp so I’m going to just go and explore.
Let me know how you get on and I will do likewise.
I reckon the biking there could be full of dust singletrack!

Good luck.

But is that front brake hose too long? That could get you into trouble on here.
Thank goodness you haven’t got any uncut grass on show.

The Hamax seats that fix to clamp on seat tube work great becuse of the natural spring in the steel connection bars.
I know it would mean a new seat but I’ve had two off STW for less than a new brake cost.

I am a mentor for a sole trader who’s launching a new business (consumer product design sector).
I receive a nominal fee from a third party organisation who are promoting innovation.

It’s good… symbiotic as I’m learning stuff too.
The non-exec thing can work well too (fresh eyes, helicopter and all that), I’ve worked with but never been one.

It’s where I go to get:
a) laughs (the ‘grass needs cutting’ gag still always gets me)
b) answers (no matter how niche – spoke tension on jockey wheel of 1940’s bi-plane anyone?)
c) decent kit (have yet to be sent any shonky gear).

Done your survey mister.

Am also a product designer; 15 years designing all sorts of bits from torches to toothbrushes! Love it.
Good luck with your stuff & give me a shout if you need any help or advice.
