Of 6 ti bikes between mates, 2 have cracked (my Charge, friends Lynskey) – not a great ratio. Still got a steel Condor gravel bike from 90s (made by Dave Yates) and it’s peachy.

Some industry folk here wanted an update…

    Replacement bike arrived!

Charge UK were powerless to act (they don’t hold stock) but their distributor came good in the end so hats off there.

Wiggle was the retailer, who came up trumps ion the end and even added some extras to maintain goodwill – top effort on their part.

For info: Yodel were the courier who ‘lost’ the original, damaged bike on its return to retailer (arranged by retailer, thankfully). One of their drivers may be riding a bike that’s about to remove body parts by splitting in half! Instant karma?

    Retailer arranged courier.

Resisting naming retailer till things are resolved.

Couriers lost bike on return to retailer.

    Retailer promised to replace.

    Still no bike.

Am moments away from getting legal as retailer has not responded for over a week and it’s now been pushing two months with no bike.

Any wisdom from the industry folk on here?

    Image added.

I’m first owner, definitely warranty cover, retailer contacted, poor response so far but don’t want to name and shame till they’ve had a chance to sort.

Could have a been catastrophic failure, guess I’m pretty lucky!

Any tips on how to encourage a BIG retailer to actually get on and deal with claim would be welcome….

    Thanks Nemesis.
    Question 1 & 2 sorted – genius.

So I could re-route mech cable (a la Sheldon), ditch Shiftmate and use a 10p Shim block?
    You just saved me £40!

Sorry, not in front of computer, but from memory the folder you put the file in can be confusing… Try putting in a different folder, can’t remember name.

    Good luck mister.
I was in exactly the same boat a few months back and it sounds stupidly obvious but the most important thing is to not to freak out and get all nervous.

    Some tips:
    1) Relax.
    2) Hold your line.
    3) Ride near, but not off the front.
    4) Stay out of trouble (if the person next to/in font is wobbling around and sketchy, move).
    5) Relax (you’ll be amazed how much energy you can save by not getting all jittery).
    6) Ride smooth, efficiently, stay out of the wind.
    7) Push on, don’t sink back into the bunch – stay in the top 10-15 the whole time.
    8) Learn.

    It’s great – you’ll love it.

Their new bibs are good too. Done a few big rides in them now, good pad, nice fit, top marks for the money.

Those frames are nice, I nearly got one for my wife.
Although the running gear on a Decathlon may be better, that Giant will be upgradable if he gets into it and sellable if he doesn’t.

Post up wanted ads on here and scour.
He’ll find something like an old On One Scandal or Rock Lobster (steel) and will be away.
There are some gems in these here HTMLs.

@ eyerideit – I bought the s/m (am 6ft, 31″ waist, skinny ‘road’ build) and the fit is great.

@ theflatboy – we are talking seriously good (was given bibs used by a Pro-Team because a mate worked for the sponsor and these are as good/better in some ways).

    both.

I’ve bought 3 frames off here.
1 of which I should have loved, because it looks cool and everyone says they’re great, but I hated the way it rode, so flogged it.
the other two look a bit ordinary, but ride great… so I guess the emotions can hook you in, but if it doesn’t work as a bike, then logic is going to kick in…
