I have a 160mm Mega and mine doesn’t do it and I don’t even shift into climb!

Alltricks.com are the German site I was on about. Their prices are tempting to say the least!

How much do the Velvets come out at and where do people get the straight steerers from? Ze Germans have straight steerer new ‘fast black’ Rev’s for about £250 which are tempting me on my 456 Evo…May be swayed by some velvets if they are going to be the better buy!

Mine did this on first ever ride out. I was gutted. It was dirt in the pivot. Sorted.

Insurance is your best form of security. If they want it they will have it, but that doesn’t mean you should make it easy for them. I use an oxford motorcycle ground anchor and a really heavy motorcycle chain and lock set wrapped as awkwardly and tightly around both bikes as I can get it. Ground anchors are only as good as the thing they are attached to. If you attach it poorly to flimsy timber it’s going to get prised off. Concrete is best if possible.

Don’t overlook your entrance locks though, it’s better to stop them getting into the shed in the first place. A lot of people have a tiny little padlock that’s easily prised off the paper thin piece of timber it’s attached to. Id be using a heavy duty hasp and staple fitted with coach bolts attached to some beefy timber if i had a shed (I have a concrete garage). It’s also worth not advertising the fact you have a few k sitting in the shed so get the OH to knock up some net curtain for any windows. I’m also quite paranoid about who is around when I open the garage door. I won’t leave it wide open for 15 minutes whilst I get ready letting everyone see what I have. I’ve also been known to cycle past my house if the local yobo’s are loitering and go around the block until they have gone. I have lot’s of really nice nickable stuff in my cave. 3 decent bikes, two decent motorcycle’s vintage 3 mopeds plus all my tools. I want to keep them safe.

    HAVE LOT’S OF INSURANCE!

Mines alright. Evo 456 standard build.

Weighs as much as the moon but i’ve had zero issues with it. I did manage to ding the rim but it just shrugs it off. 60 plus mile canal rides are a ball ache though with massively heavy wheels.

    *YAWN*

The only two things you need to consider are:

    1. Can I afford it?

    2. Do I enjoy it?

If the answer to both is yes then there isn’t a problem at all.

It’s no good spending on something you don’t like and equally it’s no good doing everything on the never-never.

Vitus Escarpe? Looks seriously tasty. This one’s the top end kit but they do quite a few different spec levels.

I hadn’t logged on to MTBE for few days and it had all kicked off. I asked Jimbo what the hell was going on and he pointed me to this thread. I think I’m going to jump ship from there too, even if he re-instates all the old faces it still won’t ever be the same.

By the way Wolfenstein, were you and your wife (sure you said she has a yeti?) at Coed Y Brenin last Sunday? Only met you on the one ride probably getting on for 18 months back and wasn’t sure!

Jay91 were you the guy I spoke to a few times? last time being when my buddy had a puncture just before the end? I was on raw Nukeproof mega with pikes and a silly ginger beard!

It was a really really well organised event and it was nice to know the money raised wasn’t lining someones pockets and actually going to a good cause. The bike wash was great too!

It’s hard to say, I seem to notice it more on the road bike but as I ride a lot i’m often still feeling the effects when i jump on the MTB. Im thinking maybe take a look at cleat position/switch cleats and perhaps a bike fit. Thanks guys!

This is from when I went, I found some really poorly built jumps though! Never did get the chance to go over to the Ercall.

I have NN pacestar rear and Hans Trailstar front and they are great on my Mega running tubeless. Don’t know if it’s just me but the front seems quite sensitive to pressure, theres a definate sweet spot for grip. Draggy as hell on tarmac though. Thankfully it doesn’t see too much of it.

Not that i’m aware of, just the lever change.

I’ve been riding a few years on a HT and have recently built up a Mega FS. Only two rides in but loving it so far, BUT i won’t be getting rid of my trusty 456. I do a real mixture of riding from natural trails, singletrack, jumps, urban obstacles, DH runs and trail centres and whilst my 456 was OK for them all when it gets rough and rooty i felt i was really at the limit of how fast I could go on my bike.

If you can afford it (not just to buy, but maintain also!) and want it then why not? It’s much easier to carry speed with a bit of extra boing.

I use tesco’s second cheapest APC diluted in a trigger spray. I worked it out once at something daft like 90p per 20 litres. Spray on, leave to dwell, agitate, rinse.

Don’t be selfish, have some patience and don’t ride off as fast as your legs will carry you, it’s only going to put her off even more having to play catch up all day.

If she has no interest at all in cycling though it’s likely not to catch on though. No nice local fire road type trails to go on? Think a busy trail centre may not be the best idea either as strava knobbers will be pushing her off trying to get past.

Yup SV is fairly small, but im 5′ 5″ so mo issue there. It’s economical, reliable and plenty fast enough if worked hard (anything above 400 cc is going to be, SV is 0-60 < 4 seconds) but a bit gutless on roll on in top at 60. Does everything I want it to for the <10 mile commute each way to work and back. I would recommend it as a great first bike or as an everyday rider. Those Sunday morning sunny dry day type riders who like to stand outside pubs at biker meets in power ranger suits may want to look elsewhere though 😆

No way they look fun on paper! Never got around to test riding one!

Preferred my old Bandit but the SV is a good work horse. Like I say it’s a pure commuting tool but not too bad for a bit of fun. Turning circle is shite though so no wonder you had a bad time on DA, clip ons don’t make for good slow speed manoeuvres at all!

I really want an MT-03. I don’t see the purpose of pure sports bikes on road at all, by the time you are out of first you are in license losing territory. Singles and twins are where it at 8)…….or even better two smokes!

Delivery times seem to be my main gripe with CRC at the moment…..

They come within the time they ‘say’ they will come under free delivery, but I had gotten so used to ordering one day and fitting the next it just seems like a huge step backwards in customer service. The beauty/blight of CRC was that they could undercut the LBS and get the product to you within a day. In most cases faster than the LBS if they needed to order in.
