Voluntary or involuntary El-B, it’s the same effect.

Another happy user of the very things here. Inline and 350mm from bottom of post to the middle of the clamp. I had to use some carbon paste which i’ve not had to on my other bikes which have different carbon posts but it’s all fixed up now.

I think somebody mentioned it on the first page of this thread but nobody seems to have picked up on it. What about deaf riders? I only ask as I am going deaf. I have an appointment to have my first aid fitted. Just in one ear but the other won’t be far behind and I’m expecting to be profoundly deaf within a few years.
Am I to stop riding my bike on the roads?

I was thinking you meant the steps from the bottom of Mam Tor that go directly into the Mam Nik carpark.

I bought a tube of the Finish Line carbon paste from a small local bike shop yesterday. It fixed my FSA carbon seatpost slippage problem. I would have thought most bike shops would stock it. £8 I think.

Mam Nik car park, Swiftacular? I came off about 10 yards in which was highly embarrassing but my mate did them and made it look easy.

I think I’ve found (for me) Bicycle Saddle Nirvana. Cheap, light and comfortable. As above, somebody’s old SLR (any model as long is it doesn’t have the whole in the middle), peel off the cover, pick away at the foam, a good old scrub with some warm soapy water to remove the glue and there it is. A comfy, lightweight and very cheap saddle.

A saddle and shorts without padding I’d have thought Roter Stern?

Stripped down to the base SLR’s and none padded shorts or very minimal if any at all . I’m finding Decathlon’s cheapest bib shorts the most comfy yet.
I’m often under the impression that people spend a lot of time getting the right saddle for them but don’t think twice about the differences in padding in their various collection of shorts.

What Retro said: Flip it off, adjust to your hearts content and then put it back. I’ve set mine so that it is completely locked out. It takes about 2 minutes to do. No in betweens here. It’s either locked out or it’s not.

The very one J, She was power walking and he was only out of prison two days earlier. Derbyshire Serious Crime had to deal with it rather than GMP, based on my location as it was all unfolding. It was over the county boundary by yards apparently. I was on my way over to Ladybower at the time.
Was the bike stuff any good? Em’s on stage tomorrow.
    🙂

Is he sacred of the dark? 🙂
Even though I witnessed that murder on the canal which must be only about 2 miles up the way from you, it’s not exactly Gangland Ghetto round there. You should have got the BMX out, set off half an hour earlier and had a mess on the skate park in the memorial park while you were waiting.

“They’ll go beserk. You’ll need to squirt them too.”

I didn’t think it possible during a day of utter, utter bollox (I should have been in Wales riding my bike) but that did the impossible and made me laugh out loud.

If my dog bit somebody and that somebody kicked him that would be fine with me. If they kicked me as well I’d be mightily pissed off as I didn’t do the biting in the first place. I doubt the dog would go biting somebody again if it got a hearty high speed boot in it’s gob.
A Dog Tazer could be the answer but possibly a bit bulky.

Down the side of the Central Library Samuri. If you’re walking, it’s along the one way street at the side of the library. If you’re driving and going south on the A6, go past the library on your left, at the next lights (Mc’Donalds on the right hand corner) turn left, up to the roundabout, left again and the there is a big car park on the right. St Peters Square is just behind the buildings opposite the car park. Free car parking all weekend in all of Stockports car parks as well.

Daughter is actually 11 Dave. 12 next month. Sje plays lead guitar, a bit of keyboard and warbles a bit but the youngsters singing is being discouraged becasue the sound immediatley goes all Pinky & perky when they start. It’s best when it’s left to the front guy. he sounds all grown up 🙂
They’re playing at some point on Sunday (no time allocated as yet). The bike events in St Peters Square are tomorrow (Saturday).

Oh my very word. I had plans in place and then he pops up with “I could knock an hour off it if I did it again “! It’s like watching Hollyoaks. You know it’s pointless and you really have better things to be doing but I’m going to have to do the Bwetsy – Marin – Bwesty – Penmachno- Bwesty thing again. I can’t have it, I have to beat it. Gnnnnnarrrggh, it’s an illness! 🙂

It may be a little further over than you’d be prepared to travel but you could set off from Hayfield (Sett Valley Trail car park) and head over to Brookbottom, Rowarth, Mellor Cross and Roman Lakes. 20 miles worth with some thinking out of a route before hand and can be as (un)technical as you like. The hills don’t have to be as hard as the Hope/Edale side of the Peaks either
Loads of us from this side of Derbyshire, Manchester and Stockport on here and I’m sure one of us would show you both around although if you wanted the most suave, debonair and to be honest outright good looking you’d have to ask directly (my email is in my profile :-0).

Thanks Ben. They set a high standard with the song used in the video clip and then don’t get anywhere near it again from the stuff I’ve been looking at on You Tube.
Whose the rider(s) in the video?

Nah, it’s extemeley teniously akin to to saying “Eyam? they had the plague there, I’m not going to visit, I might catch it”
Get yourself on the classifieds and buy some stuff. In fact, my supplier is due in this afternoon so I should be posting up some bargains 🙂 Some more freebies* too.

Every silver lining has a cloud, unfortunatley.
On the even more plus side(s), a TT course closer than Monksheath crossroads at Macc. and no more death runs from the Bulls Head pub to Stepping Hill hospital twice a day.

I also have the Ltd Race. It’s excellent! Top tube is quite short though so watch the sizing.

“i rode Llandegla before you even knew what it was”
I have no reason to believe you didn’t. I was introduced to Llandegla about 8 years ago. I actually quite enjoy the new trails, especially tagged on to the old route and Offa’s Dyke. Even doing Worlds End for a bigger ride. Coming back into the forest from the planks and doing the black route (as you’ll be aware, I’d only miss out the initial climb from the cafe), is a great ride. I just don’t much fancy riding over from Wrexham General station.
I’ve done a quite a bit around thew Clwyds as well. Loggerheads and the like with a guy from Chester I used to ride with (waves at Geoff “dirtybike) and I’ve doen the Flintshire challenge a few times.

I know it’s really backward but I have a real yearn for trail centre riding at the moment. Maybe it’s the fear of my Sarn Helen ride coming up in July?

Just for the record though max, I haven’t ever critiscised Llandegla before or after the trails were built although I do feel sad when driving up the approach road and I see the old car park and the last little bit of bridleway into it, overgrown and neglected. I’ve done the car park naked clothes shuffle there a few times 🙂

I know it’s blasphemy Spoonie and I feel dirty and disgusting for admitting this but…………I’m bored bonkers with the Peak District! I’m even growing some of those super tall, very quick growing hedges in the garden so I don’t have to look at the same Peak District hill every time I open the curtains in the morning. I even stayed in yesterday and watched Hannah Montanna on the Disney channel instead or riding in the Peak District.

Loads of great suggestions there, thanks all. I think Fort Bill involves a sleeper train from where I am doesn’t it? I’ve made alist of them all and i’m going ot do them one by one over the coming 12 months. I really am a geek 🙂

Thanks for all the suggestions (and thanks to Trekster especially). Not too bothered of the length of the train ride as long as though the location is worth it. I went up to Edinburgh on the train, rode down to Glentress, did the black route, camped in the forest and rode back to Edinburgh for the train home the next day which was fun but I wouldn’t do it again.
The ride from Wrexham to Llandegla really isn’t worth it for me though but thanks for the suggestion. I did that one before they built the trails (did the old xc race route, Ponderosa, planks of doom) and that only just made it worth while.
I think I’m going to give one of the South Wales centers a go, Coed y Brenin looked favourite but it’s an arse to get to from Stockport.

Lots more to have a think about, thanks.
I can do Marple to Sheffield easy, it’s just round the corner from here, no changes and about an hour. I was under the impression Wharncliffe was all about downhill riding. Is there much XC and is it marked trails or find your own?

Thanks for the options so far,.Getting the train from Manchester (or Stockport) this Friday. I can’t leave the house until 8:00am and riding up to Manchester and then the train to Darlington was looking good until I saw the prices.
Doing Penmachno and Marin by riding though Bewsty Coed is a biannual ride. Terrahawk has a PB that needs beating but could still be on the cards for this Friday, I’ll get straight back on to trainline.
    Is Grizedale doable from Windereme?

I’ve not had a problem completing my ride either on road or off househusband although admittedly I’ve always topped up the pressure when I’ve got home with a track pump. I’ve had two twitchy moments though when a well hidden thorn had given me two punctures on a road ride and I’d been left with no cartridges in case I got a third (I had a tube patch but I’d used my spare tubes as well so finding the hole was going to be fun) and a pinch flat on the mountain bike with one cartridge and one tube left and 15 rocky off road miles to home.
I carry one of those little presta to schraeder valve convertors and a few 50p’s on each bike so I can limp to the nearest petrol station as a last chance solution. Now you mention it, I’m going to budget in 1 and a half cartridges per tube.
Pumping like billy’o at the side of road or track seems so….undignified to me now 🙂

]Saturday Peak District road at ridiculous o’clock. I have to be home by 10:00am to take ‘madam’ 10 pin bowling.
Sunday Peak District off road late afternoon as I’m looking after ‘madam’ while her mum is doing something at Manchester Cathedral.
