Come you lot! The BBC says sunny for Sunday in Stockport and that's the direction we'll be heading for.
Is Cut Gate any different from any other part of the peat areas of the Peak District? There'll be loads of people riding Rushup Edge which has it's own section of soft stuff as does Mam Nick to Hollins Cross, Whinstone Lee Tor ect.
It's a few miles to ride over but easy enough on road from where I am. Marple to Glossop, left at the lights instead of straight on over the A57 and only a short section of Woodhead and you're there. No rush enjoy the spin. Planing on coming back via Cutgate, Lockerbrook, Edale Cross, Jaggers, Hollins Cross, Rushup Edge, Hayfield and then Stockport. Do more or less road sections depending on how it's going. Very steady pace, just enjoying the day.

Just me then? Even the losers from the normal gang of riders are a little backward at stepping forward.
It's going to be sunny on Sunday.
I'm not normally one for spending the day with complete strangers but I reckon it'll be a laugh.

£15 on Saturday morning (more if she's going into the town centre with her friends), what ever she needs for school during the week and what ever she needs during the week for the various clubs and groups she's a member of.
She's 12 (and lovely – plays an ace tune on electric guitar and keyboard as well) though.

Companies House should be able to solve your "who owns" question pretty quickly I'd have thought. They seem pretty quick to update their records when I have to make enquiries through work.

Decathlon do some velcro bright green reflective armbands with 4 red LED's built in that you can set to constant or flashing. They're really good actually. If you'd like some and don't have a Decathlon near by, give me a shout and I'll pick some up for you and chuck them in the post.

Michelin Pro3 Race Grip. The perfect fast rolling, wet tarmac road bike tyre.

Onzadog – I'd be interested in the hubs if they're still available? I think I read somewhere that you'd got them as part of the Hope group buy? It was a few weeks too soon for me, sadly.
I've got a few enquiries going on with different people about some new wheels for my bike but hubs only is also a considereation. I know a good wheel builder.

It's part of the Limestone Way (if I've got that right). It comes in from Perryfoot and goes down the side of the castle into Castleton.
I much prefer Dirtlow Rake, Pindale and the cement works singletrack even though that means a few miles road ride back to Hope.
    Nice video though

Not at all mate, don't worry yourself about it. We all have a maximum potential and physioligical disposition and it could be that no matter how hard you train, that gearing is going to be too hard for you.
I go out a couple of times a month with a Cat 1 road racer and he gets up Winnats on that gearing but he knows he's done it and he doesn't look forwrd to it much and if I remember correctly, those hills round your way are as near if not as steep as Winnats.
It'll get easier until you get as good as you can be (if you really want to work that hard) or you can chuck a long cage rear mech and 27 cog on when (and if) you concede defeat and you may just find you're enjoying your cycling more.

It took me ages to type that and now others have said it already.

Oh dear. I've taken part in an online conversation that contains "FACT" and "Nuff said".
    My shame is complete.

I did the Mary Townley Loop yestersday morning and an hours leg loosener on the road bike this morning. I was going to meet a load of people from here to do a local Peak ride literally just up the road from my house or the Stockport fella's in Macc Forest but I couldn't face either.
Even though my legs still hurt from yesterdays leg breaker, that road ride was beautiul. No mud, no grit, not wet, lovely views and nice and peaceful.
    I'm with Uplink.

WCA…I put my personal email in my profile in good faith. I do not like the fact it has been used to try to flog me a t-shirt I did not ask for and do not want.
You did not email me; it was rudeboy.
As from now my email will nolonger be available.

Bored to the back teeth with Big Bike Bash stuff but that post was top. Thank you.

Giving it a miss. MTL first thing this morning, City this afternoon and New Mills bonfire this evening, I don't think I'll see Sunday a.m.
I might bump into you all part way round if you're still out. I'll probably go over to Mellor Cross to get my legs loosened up again.

Sadly J, tomorrows ride is now on a 5'ish (but not much more or I'm snookered) hour schedule so I suspect know I'll be hobbling on Sunday.
I'll do my best to get there for the start. I was looking forward to it.

I'm almost certainly out. My stunt double to take my daughter to Man City has dropped out and my mate is insisting on the Mary Townley tomorrow no matter what time so that'll be a ridiculously early start, near kill myself riding and get back in time for the match!
    Somebody please kill me now.

I'm in unless the Mary Townley ride on Saturday has a competitive edge. In which case, I'll be trying to get the feeling back in my legs on Sunday.

At the risk of being boring, I have the Ltd Team Race, Owned it since Feb this year. Love it to bits. Electric blue and white, dripping in carbon fibre, it's almost carnal 🙂

Some excellent suggestions there, cheers 🙂

Trail Rat! It's you! :-). Nah, I don't jump red lights, I have a peverse pleasure in trackstanding at every one of them I come to on red.

Sadly Crazy Legs, I suspect I'm as good as I'm ever going to get and to be honest, my wife suspects I've welded a bike to my arse, I'm sat on one so often.

Anybody know where I can get an extra large bottle of Finish Line Wet Lube. Let's have a look how good speedy boy is in his slide skills 🙂

    Still looking good for me.
Mary Townley the day before with The Animal (but his form is a bit pants and mine for reasons I can't explain is currently very pleasing. Should be fine).

Did that Lezyne Wallet ever turn up? I'll call in.

I dislike the Campag stuff enough as it is without having to put up with bodging it. Looks like I'm stuck with the stuff. I can't afford to change it all over to Sham or Shimano.
    Thanks for the advice everyone.

10 speed just to make things even more complicated 🙁
Thanks for the replies so far though.
I'm looking at spending about £400 on road wheels. There seems to be loads of choice in the 2nd hand market for Shimano/Sram but not much for Campagnolo.

Don't ever take up poker Joe 🙂
I'll give you £150 cash, will collect and I'll say nothing to anybody (serious offer).

Joe – if it's only two weeks old, does that mean you've only just bought it through your employers bike scheme? If that's the case, it's not actually going to be yours to sell until it's paid for in full and signed off to you.

Try not to be offended by people on here though, they can be a little hysterical on occasion 🙂

There is a not so frequent user on here that has flogged loads of parts and accessories that have a somewhat dubious path to the eventual users possession and some of those very parts have been used in bike magazine articles (attached to bikes of people photographed riding them).
I know the person in question has been quite open with the fact that these items may have come "under the counter" but they've all sold without any bother.
He's had the opportunity to acquire a few completely brand new road and mountain bikes but has declined the offer.
Before the blue lights and sirens come flying round the corner, I really can't remember the guys name or address…………
Not quite stolen to order but not far off. I was once however waiting on a shimano freehub which I'm told was described to the acquirer as something that whizzes round and clicks……he turned up with a Shimano fishing rod reel 🙂
"There probably aren't as many thieves on here as their are bikers who are happy to buy no questions asked cheap parts off ebay."….or here Jackthedog. The irony is almost tangible.

When first my dad and then my mum died, I can honestly say it passed me by much like a wet Sunday morning. A bit "not the best day ever" with regard to my mum but other than that, I wasn't muched bothered. In fact, the day after my Mum died, I went for a bike ride with NBT and Bunnyhop.
I guess I'm something of an emotional cripple.

I should add that my wife is an oncologist nurse specialist and senior sister at a very large (UK's largest) hospice and my lack of caring about just about anybody really, really worries her.

Just seen your post TJ. Hand on heart (don;t actually think I have an emotional one)….I really wasn't and continue to be not much bothered at all. Take me at a Man City match though and I'm kickinf every ball.

    I'm well odd, me 🙂

Do you mean Strines as in Strines Moor in between Woodhead and Snake Pass of great road riding fame or Strines the hamlet in between Marple and New Mills of very little if any fame?

I have some. I don't much like them for riding as they don't have legs grippers so they end up Nora Batty around the knees.

10 or 21 miles each way usually all on road everyday depending on which office I'm at on that particular day.

Thanks for the opinions everyone (and the offer Jon – much appreciated. It's me, the pedal forgetor 🙂 ).
No mountaineering involved. It's wanted for dog walking, sitting in the stands at Man. City, walking in the Peaks and Lakes. that kind of thing.

I've done it twice. The first time I got the train up from Manchester, rode to Glentress and then rode back at the end of my day out for the late train home.
The second time i did it, I camped in the forest.
Bollocks to riding to it and riding back again in one day.
In fact, bollocks to riding to and from Edinburgh again, ever.
It was a horrible road ride and not much helped by being on a road where I shouldn't have been on one occasion.
I reckon you should be able to get one of those new black taxis that are almost as big as a mini bus from the station if you hang about long enough and for the money he'll make, I bet you could arrange a lift back as well at the end of your day or weekend.

Thanks J. It'd be great to see you again as well.
    I have a Peak dawn to dusk ride of ridiculous duration agreed with Gaz The Leg Ripper for one Saturday in November and I can't remember which. If it's not the day before this one, I'm in and if it is the day before this one, I'll be in bed :-}
