Assertive, right. Erm, where can I get one of those…?

And no apologies needed. In fact, I don't even recall your language being particularly "colourful", though I do understand how complicated maintenance can be on singlespeeds

I've always wondered if a PS3 would benefit from one of these 'colour' tellies (though I understand funds are limited).

Test him/her out with the cheek problem then…

That, right there, is where the smart money lies. That's a perfect plan, cheers andy.

Good ol' STW, full of people more sneaky than me.

Hey Steelfan, if your work is snowed off tommorow, fancy a snowy ride on a common somewhere…? (ooh er)

*waves lamely before shuffling off to bed*

… for a bit of self-teabagging that everyone on STW knows you're doing right now

Seriously, hope it's minor and easily dealt with.

steveb – I hope it's a better result than you fear. Even if it's a referral that's weeks away, it's still progress.

    …the foul cheek…

Thanks for that, makes me LOADS less self-concious

CG – darn right I need to get out to some woods again! But we must stop meeting like that… 8O

DT78 – I've considered private too, can't really afford it but may well look into costs if nothing happens via the GP.

"Hey Doctor Nick!" – Amitriptyline sounds like just the ticket: can you ask for specific drugs at the GP or will the doc frown upon this…?

I sometimes need to be remained how lucky I am with my GP – my GP loves to have a chat ! And a laugh too – we take the p*ss out of each other

Aaah, I had a GP like that once. She was great and got so close to sorting my stupid moods, but I was too weird. Bless her though.

Good idea, CG, thanks for that. I'd forgotten about that facility. I bet the receptionists give you a proper you-want-what-look if you ask for one of those though…

Ah, yes, all of them would be the ideal, but the evil harpies wonderful women who are GP surgery receptionists will make it abundantly clear via every medium available that each appointment is for ONE problem only.

Thanks for the insight, guys. Sounds like I'm not the only one who feels the pressure to just get in&out a the GP's.

I think I might approach it with an "I'm here for some drugs" opener and hopefully get a quick couple of prescriptions.

You're spot on, ernie, about the linked ailments, I've often experienced a feedbakc loop between the two. I'm sure the damn back pain would be easier to cope with if I didn't feel so flattened the whole time!

Erk, torn between my love for old Konas and my equally great love for my Thorn Raven Nomad.

The Thorn is more bike than I'll probably ever need (I've lost whole 45l panniers of motivation in recent years) but it rides sooooo sweetly and can handle silly loads (30ish kilos of shopping, or the Brompton I carried home the other day on the rack).

Round the world it would just be perfect.

The Kona would make a really great commuting bike, or a lightweight singlespeed, but perhaps wouldn't be ideal loaded up.

    I recently hybridisered a stunning Explosif…

…which was an unforgiveably criminal thing to do!

Strangely most sickness occurs on a Friday and a Monday.

Hmmm, actaully it's not quite most, but my friend's boss's recruitment consultant's orthodontist did say that an astonishing FORTY PERCENT of sick days occur on Mondays and Fridays.

Oh no, you're one of those 'road-riders' ain't ya?

Sheesh, did you see the name of this website: SINGLETRACK World? As in off-road. You don't "clip clop" in the mud!!

Well, I was rather put out by the narrow-minded, wannabe-scientific response to the OP announcing this great product so I nipped to my local supermarket and bought a bottle.

    Notes:

    – Nice packaging (see my unboxing vid on Youtube)

    – Screwcap that actually works.

    – Wonderful whiff of male whale ordure as you open it up.

    – The pomegranite tang really helped with the added-value experience.

    In conclusion:

Made my leg drop off ergo it works.

But, SSP, what about when you want to hammer downhill out of the saddle and the suspension doesn't work…?

I'll stick to a hardtail, at least it knows what sorta bike it is.

(Souce: I used to have a 1998 Kona King Kikapu that was AMAZING when I was sat down but pants when I stood up. Many bikes later I had 2005 SJ FSR 120 which was truly brilliant suspension. Ah…)

(It didn't make a very good DH bike…)

    Sapim Race, yeah? (2.0-1.8-2.0)

Both are excellent and you'll notice approximately no difference during building or use.

They're excellent rims, but the strength is all in the build. Coming from Merlin, they'll be fine.

They're a wee smidge on the side of narrow, so phat tyres might go a bit sqiffy on 'em.

Hmmm, I'm a little confused here as I've found M965 (M06 – metal) pads to last for AGES in all sorts of shitey conditions.

The pads are indeed all interchangeable between Shimano's brakes.

The 'Thames Path' in central London is a joke and a half. Further upstream it is better, nice even, but around the City/Westminster/Southwark/Lambeth it is non-existant.

I can recommend starting at Brentford/Kew Bridge and heading inland.

Just a wee smidgen to young for vinyl to have made much of an impact on me…

You're half right, Ti Tart: music does indeed need to be appreciated, but sometimes you just want a background noise that is pleasant. For example, I was in the local Poundland today (yeah, yeah, yeah, doing the weekly shop) and would have fallen to the floor with my ears bleeding had I not been able to augment the volume on my walkman.

(Just worked out who you are, Ti Tart! Might take your suggestions a bit more seriously now… :D )
