I would push for them to provide the healthcare, particularly if it is family cover. I don’t know your personal situation, but if you get married and have kids in the future, then family cover will include them, at no extra cost to you (except for the BIK). If they just bung you an extra £1k salary now, then this wouldn’t cover the cost of extra family members on the policy in years to come

Nice idea but I suspect HR might not like that approach!

Now that the dent removal guy has done his best, how much, if any, will the PCP company charge you to fix the remaining dent when you hand the car back?

From what you have said it’s not a massive dent, but one that you will see if you specifically look for it. Based on that description, I’d be surprised if it didn’t fall under fair wear and tear. To get a body shop involved is going to cost hundreds, I bet the PCP company charge will be a lot less

Our condenser is great. I thought it might be a bit crap, but have been pleasantly suprised. You can plumb them into a waste pipe if you have one nearby, we haven’t bothered – it’s no hassle to empty the tank every 2 or 3 loads

I would use a smartphone with pre loaded maps, plus a spare Anker USB charging battery from amazon for circa £20 in case the GPS hammers your smartphone battery

    Classic kryton thread –

    1. Posts up his latest middle class angst
    2. Gets told something he doesn’t want to hear
    3. Realises the internet isn’t full of people who will tell him what he wants to hear
    4. Flounces
    5. Starts next middle class angst thread a couple of weeks later

I have a g shock that has been relegated to being my DIY watch. As a result it was looking worse for wear in terms of being splattered in a variety of different paints. As a test I thought it give it a wash by sticking it in the dishwasher – 2 hours later and it came out looking great and fully functional :D

    You can’t beat a g shock!

Tj- the only other option is bike/motorbike. Everybody drives. Funnily enough the site owners built a load of bike sheds and purchased a load of boris style bikes over 12 months ago, but their health and safety people have prevented them being introduced.

You can get to the front of the site via bus, but if you work at the back of the site you aren’t allowed to walk to your office.

This is one of the government enterprise zones.

30 odd people, everybody drives. We are on a private site, the company that owns the site forbids us walking to the canteen on the misguided basis of h&s

18 pages in one day about a trouser company? Is this peak STW? Is it all downhill from here?

Edit- now I see it’s an old thread resurrected! Never mind, it’s still an argument about a trouser company! :-)

I had exactly the same situation happen to me years ago. I realised that the preferred trap was out of toilet roll, so moved to the middle of the 3 traps.

As I was cleaning up, I heard somebody enter the trap I had declined to use, and unload. Just as I was finishing up, they realised what they had done, and I heard a meek voice say “hello is anybody there, can you pass me some toilet roll?”.

I recognised his voice, but I believe that it is a human right to keep your identity secret from the person in the next trap, so I just legged it.

Check that they accept any childcare vouchers that you can save through your employer

Check what happens if you are late- do penalties apply

Check what their policy is on ill children and how long must they be symptom free before they can return

Check what food/menu there is, see if you are happy with it

Check if you get any free periods where you don’t pay (holidays etc)

Check if you get discounts if you have more children in the future.

And as somebody who writes software for vehicle powertrains for a living, sometimes we see oems changing parameters that they have no calibration guide for during development, without understanding the consequences. Fortunately we work with them and develop the calibration together which corrects such mistakes before production sign off occurs. Third party suppliers don’t get calibration guides (for IP reasons), so they are stabbing in the dark at best.

from that link… 1day to do a map? Somebody should tell vw that’s all it takes, they could drastically cut their development time, and save a fortune!
