molgrips… it really depends on the software strategy of the ECU, and I’m only guessing myself, but it seems plausible to me. I write embedded software for these kind of systems and don’t think it is beyond the realms of possibility. Also bear in mind that some of the stuff you can read online can be total rubbish (except for STW where nobody is ever wrong  )

The slow gearshifts may well be down to the faults with the engine, causing the engine to limit it’s torque reduction during shifts if there are faults present. I’d focus on the engine faults first before worrying about the gearbox; if the shifts are slow when the engine faults have been cleared for a number of drive cycles, then investigate further / worry about the gearbox.

I have just had a play with a sonos system in my local hifi shop this afternoon… I was very impressed with how slick it is, and when you create a stereo pair with 2 play 5’s, it really is pretty good sound. The sub was v good too, it shook the whole shop! Great interface tho, especially with spotify too.

Brilliant – that second suggestion particularly could well be very useful indeed. Cheers!

Raspberry pi running xmbc. With a usb tuner, the whole lot will cost <£50. Not sure about the twin tuner aspect though.

Failing that playTV if you have a PS3. I can sell you mine if you want :-)

I thought I recognised it, I was walking along there today! Were you in a group of 4/5 riders on the canal by the cape pub at 12ish (give or take an hour)?

Not really related to my day as such, I was trying to take a macro shot of the thread in my new cranks but couldn’t get a shot that I liked, then I spotted the music on the piano…..

Good cars, maybe worth looking at what lease deals you can get for them. Local skoda dealer was doing 130ish/month with servicing included, which may be preferable to shelling out 9k from your pocket.

Last time I donated I almost fainted when I got up out of the chair. I’ve never had a problem doing it before, I’m determined to do it again and prove that I can do it without issue, but it did freak me out a little!

It’s an Orbit Extreme I’m afraid, else I would take you up on your offer. It’s a fair point about just buying another one, but it seems a little wasteful to have to buy the whole thing (and I’m being tight! )

I’ve been very pleased with my 64gb which I got for £129. There aren’t loads of apps available, but for browsing the Web, emails, controlling my Squeezebox, and viewing pdfs and simple spreadsheets, it’s brilliant.

The boot up time is quite slow, so I just leave it on standby. It is much slicker to operate than I thought it would be.

Part of my job is to write software for all types of automated transmissions, including DCT’s, and whilst I like the way they drive (most of the time), I wouldn’t touch one with a bargepole on a car where I would have to pay for repair bills – non company car, car out of warranty etc.

I’ve not received my book… I subscribed as I was tempted by the book offer. When I filled in the direct debit form, there was an option to tick for my t shirt size. I did this thinking maybe I’ll get both, and I ended up with a t shirt and no book :-(

A 64gb user here; very happy. For £130 it is brilliant- it might not do everything I want it to do (DLNA and USB hosting would complete my list of wants), but plenty of other tablets don’t have these functions either. I can’t justify £400+ on an iPad so the pb fits the bill nicely

Is the free t shirt option still going? I thought it had expired but it is still mentioned on the subscribe page…

Having to print out a form for the direct debit option is a PITA too :(

Great, thanks for all the responses. Maybe it is worth picking up one in a sale somewhere and seeing how I get on with it.
