Who else wonders how much of a hangover Solo has this morning? :-)

    Btw, congrats to the OP

Hammerrite, I agree but it just goes to show that a mega bike isnt required to go fast! :-)

You might consider it ‘typical expensive stw response’, but a skills course would no doubt see you right for this; plus improve your overall riding ability

+1 for the Triban3. I’ve had mine for about 9 months now and its great. I didn’t use it over the winter, but I’ve been back out on it recently and I love it. I did my first 100k ride on Sunday without any problems, and overtook plenty of people on £1000+ bikes going uphill :-)

    nbt + 1.

The problem with stag parties is each one has to be better than the last; they end up costing a ridiculous amount of money. You don’t need to spend a fortune to have a good time; one of the best I’ve been on involved going to a single pub early on and just having a good session on the beers.

As I guess you are at Gaydon then I think you aren’t going to get a massive uptake as it is relatively in the middle of nowhere. I cycle down the Banbury road and those travelling to JLR in their company Jags and Landrovers are pretty bad at giving cyclists space.

I use them a lot, and it seems like they make their money on the postage… £0.01 for a cd, and £1.26 postage.

If you are looking at 1p CDs, then I think 40quid postage is fair enough!

M42 is usually fine unless you get unlucky.

A46 is dual carriageway (although I’m not sure all of the way), but there are lots of roundabouts which can slow progress a bit.

If you decide to posh it up and go for a b and b instead, there is a converted chapel in Capel curing opposite the shop/cafe which is v good. The bus runs from outside the cafe too so you can leave your car at the b and b.

It looks much better. And to think you criticised the condition of my floorboards when you had a front garden that looked like that….! ;-)

I didn’t know piemonster was the lead singer of Coldplay. Must have missed that on the famous people on stw thread.

I have an 50mm f1.8 for my Canon 600d, and have managed reasonable results of shots of bands in low light with it.

The mrs has just driven from Newcastle to Warwick in about 4 hours; said it was fine, just a few bad drivers about!

Ignore those saying you won’t get a good bike at that price, I have the BTwin, as do a number of my friends, and we all think it is great. One of the cycling magazines rated it above a number of £500 bikes in a group test. Try googling triban 3 reviews.

The only people who graduated from my course with a 2:1 were those who did placement years. Nobody got a 1st, and the rest got 2:2 or below. The big thing it gave me was the ability to see through all the crap they set us to do in our final year, and focus on exactly what I needed to do to get the best grade possible. It also teaches you that in engineering, academia is very far from the the real world of work.

I would also echo the comments about knowing your place – nobody likes a know it all undergrad/grad.

I like my crumpler case… Seems very well made and also doesn’t scream ‘expensive camera in here’ like other camera branded bags.

I’ve got a Sigma 10-20 for my Canon 600d – it is a great lens, although I think you really have to concentrate on your composition to get the best out of it.

I agree with Beanum and the comments about just taking lots of photos. Doing the 365 photo thing has taught me a lot, and I’ve been pleased with some of the photos I’ve taken, and what I have learnt – even if my pics are nowhere near as good as some of those I see on here!

More dog photos I’m afraid, but this was the highlight of my day. It’s also taught me a bit about photography trying to capture something that moves instead of static objects :-)
