Could you try moving close to the router and using a cable as a test? If that proves successful you could then connect using some power line adaptors.

You have better things to do with your life than deal with the SLC, such as moaning about the SLC online?

Don’t go to Vodafone if you have a smart phone. Getting 3G coverage is a rarity.

I’m not sure that the interest rate is 3% – mine was at 1.5% I think when I finished paying it off last year. Mine was also 9% above 15k, not 21k. I believe that there is a section on the moneysavingexpert website that gives all of the necessary info.

It may be easier / cheaper to find a good Galaxy / Mondeo than a van, plus you could get bike rack off the classifieds/eBay. Should be easy enough to sell both on for minimal loss.

What’s the catch with people putting up links to this particular site? People post links up to Merlin, on one etc all of the time, but the site that the OP mentions seems to be frowned upon. Why?

passtherizla – have you thought about the birmingham bmx track?

    I’m quite tempted myself!

Got about 7 months through last year, was a bit of a pain doing it each day. Think I may aim for a photo per week

If you have upgrade-itis, how about a reverb? I put one on my Boardman FS and although not cheap, I think it is a great bit of kit. Also helps with your riding as you have the saddle at the optimum height for climbing, and descending.

How about something from the on site catering facilities?

Don’t hit them with a rock – a shiny pebble is the tool of choice for freeing up pedals.

Surely mountain biking is about riding your bike over different terrains and obstacles? I would have thought pebbles would come under this? Riding on surfaces with varying levels of grip is part of the fun; you have to judge the level of grip and adapt your speed and weight distribution to make the most of it. If the pebbles weren’t there, part of the challenge would be lost, and Cannock wouldn’t be as good (in my opinion). Riding on a surface that is smooth enough for a road bike would be pretty dull.

I quite like the challenge of trying to ride fast on the pebbles – some of the sections where they are would be a bit too easy without them.

Not goretex, but I got some cheapo (less than £10) hi gear over trousers from go outdoors and cut them off at the knee. They are a bit warm wearing them over my normal riding shorts in the summer, but they are no problem at all for most of the year. They pack down very small, and are black so you can avoid the camo look if that bothers you. After a ride, my shorts are nice and dry for the drive home.

Local pick up is definitely a good idea, I sold some mission floor standing speakers on eBay that went for 30 quid as it was collection only

I’ve been holding onto a rotel amp, iPod Dock, denon tuner and wharfedale speakers for the day that I get a garage. Hopefully not long to go now!

I remember being taught at school that was a common method of keeping warm in air raid shelters during the war.

@Cardo – I thought I recognised the bike; I had that very bike when I was with The White Room, in fact I think I was the first person to ride it – a great bike. I’m not surprised by the great service, I thought the whole set up was brilliant, and Iona in particular was very good (she put up with my crap riding for a week!). I agree that you can’t predict something like that happening, it isn’t the kind of failure you see every day. It must have given you a fright though! 🙂

The back country day (I think it was referred to as that) on the last day of my holiday with The White Room. Fantastic day of riding, finished up by jumping into the lake at the end to cool off. 🙂

Cov isn’t far from Warwick / Leamington and Stratford Upon Avon; each of these offer a bit more touristy stuff to do.

If you stay in / around Warwick, treat the Mrs to a Castle Balti; immense 🙂

I also find that the sauce comes out too thin, I’ll try using less stock next time, and maybe some corn flour

Do you all brown the meat off before you put it in? I never bother as it is too much effort before work to be doing that, I just lob it all in and leave on low.

I agree with Binners, except that I prefer the Express to the Daily Mail. If you don’t buy this house now, you might well miss the boat, never be able to buy, and be a second class renting scum citizen for the rest of your life.

Buy it now or regret it for the rest of your life.

I found it tricky at the start, but then bought a book and sat at the computer and worked through a few examples. There are quite a few keyboard shortcuts that are useful to know.

Hmm, thinking more about it, I could buy a new Maglite Solitaire LED version for a couple of quid more than the cost of converting mine; it doesn’t make sense to be sentimental about a torch!

    Cheers for your help though.

Thanks. Can’t spot anything immediately obvious on DX, maybe I’ll have to end up with something on ebay/Amazon from the US: I haven’t found anything in the UK so far.

It is a funny one though; as it is I’m not going to use it as it is useless, but I don’t want to throw it out, as I’ve always liked the design.

Don’t pay too much – I got a v3 from the apple refurb store for £75 last week.
