It is generally a good idea, but there are many variables e.g. location, equipment, installer etc.

My last road bike was a T595. Superb engine, piles of silky smooth torque. My only gripe was that as a bit of a shortarse, it was really top heavy!

I live locally to Llandegla and ride it most weeks and I really enjoy it. Usually do the red and black circuits on a SS (32:18) although I do the red pretty regularly on a CX.

As for tyres, anything which holds air in really! Usually NN/RR all year round.

I’ve always used Surly. When the chain is .75 worn, I replace the chain and reverse mount the chainring and cog – last for ages

A DPF has an insignificant effect on NOx emissions. More fuel, higher NOx.

Get a BMW independent to blank off the EGR, remove the DPF and get it remapped to delete the regen. More power, more mpg and a whole lot less to go wrong and more soot and nasty pollutants to mess up the air quality and cause health problems

    FTFY.

Here’s the key: ‘more mpg’ ergo less emissions per mile…

Further, it’s the tiny particles which cause the most harm, not the larger sooty ones (although I agree they’re not benign); a DPF does not remove the tiny particulate. A diesel running a DPF tends to increase CO2 emissions; don’t also ignore the environmental / energy cost in maunfacturing the damn things in the first instance.

Planet X Uncle John – I’ve two sets of wheels; one for the road and one for off-road stuff. Top bike and it would be the one I’d keep if I were only allowed one!

So is quinoa in? If so, fantastic!

What about pappadoms? I think they’re made from lentil flour…

I use a set of Airlift 1000s for the rear springs of our Bongo. They really help when the van is loaded and w/ 4 bikes hung off the back. You can tune the pressure, so when unloaded the ride isn’t harsh. B*ugger to fit though.

I’m sure I saw a few at the Ruthin marathon last Autumn too. I was watching – injured again.

Quite fancy having a go at one of the shorter routes as I’ve done some of the Clwyds on my UJ previously.

Really enjoying my Uncle John. Solidly built and v. comfortable.

Took her for a a three hour blast on Saturday, including Llandegla’s blue route to vary things a bit form the road alone.

Thanks chaps, I’ll persevere for a bit longer.

Pedals are Wellgo B38s and shoes are AM40s. I’ll move the brake levers as suggested and, as thisisnotaspoond also advises, I’ll drop my wrists, although I was consciously dropping my heels.

If you see a Superlight been ridden by someone with bleeding shins in north Wales, that’ll be me…

I’m thinking about a new car w/ similar spec as your b/f. As I love Alfas my choice currently is a Brera or the GT.
