I asked the same question last month and got some alpine stars Paragon, fit nicely under my pretty snug alpine stars ‘pants’.

I went for the paragon in the end, got them at a bargain price and they fit nicely under my ‘pants’.

Have you actually ridden in them chaka? Mine certainly loosened up a little after use, I wear XL and they are spot on for my big legs.

Thanks kimbers, I will have a look on the map.

Is there an off road link between Woburn and Rushmere?

Sounds like an interesting look chakaping!

Even if I skip leg day(s) which I wont, I was born with big legs! Something will be better than nothing, maybe?!

Think I better go XL then, thanks Nick.

Madison DTE are pretty generous, I have big legs and backside, but I’m considering braces to keep them up. Quite warm though, more of a winter short.

According to the ebay description it weighs 2515g, that’s a pretty hefty 386g more than a Yari!

What attracts me to the non charger options is they seem much more user serviceable and the easier it is, the more often you are likely to do it.

Unless there are any compelling reasons otherwise I will just go charger.

Personally I would go Yari, they are a known quantity, easy to work on, easy to change travel, easy to upgrade with a number of damper options available.

Just got the Madison DTE’s for £41.50 in green from an ebay shop, haven’t used them yet, but they come up pretty big. I’m generally a 34 waist, but need a belt, the XL was far too big, changed them for L and they fit pretty nicely with the straps tightened a bit. Nice soft feel to them, should be cosy for the bad weather.

I’m really pleased with mine,. still early days, so I’m not completely dialled suspension wise yet. It is a good climber, no effort keeping the front wheel down and it really eats the miles. Great on swoopy North Downs trails, holds it’s speed well and good over jumps and drops.I’m long of leg with a short body and I find the sizing spot on, nice reach, but not too long at 465, slack enough, but not too slack, they look much better in the flesh too.

That’s what I’m looking at John, I just don’t want to get the wrong one like I did for my Lyrik!

Can’t comment on the Whyte, but Transmitters are great! Very fun and very capable, mine ended up with 35mm rims and 2.6 tyres, so more wide trail than plus, worked really well.

Got mine a little while ago, just a frame and built it up myself and so far I’m really liking it. My local trails are around Woburn and it is perfect for that. It’s early days and I still need to tinker a bit with shock settings, but it seems to be a Goldilocks bike for me, good up and down, very similar reach to my Airdrop, nice over drops and jumps, feels efficient and looks so much better in the flesh.

    Clutch mechs, narrow wide chainrings.

Yet they still need 40cc of 5wt on the damper side?!

Thanks bigyan, so when I remove the lowers will the oil drain from the damper?

The Radon looks a good package, but the geometry looks much less fun! Steeper head angle, shorter reach, taller seat tube, shorter wheelbase.

I’ve ridden a mate’s Evol, he is the same size as you and has a large. I’m the same size as plus one, but would find medium too small.

I think these look great in green and shall be ordering one next week to replace my plus hardtail.
Everyone seems to be obsessed with long reach, it doesn’t suit everyone! It is 3mm less than my Airdrop Edit, don’t think I will notice.

I was in a similar position, I was running 19mm Raceface sixc bars and felt the front was too low, I’m also long of leg with a short body. Got myself some 38mm rise Nukeproof bars and I’m much happier with the feel of the bike, especially on steeper stuff, drops and jumps.

What size do you need? A friend has a little used Bird Zero TR in M/L which would probably be in budget.

I would say go long, Crete last April in a shorty was on the chilly side, I wouldn’t have lasted an hour.

Well I’ve been inside all of those wrecks and they were good dives, but I wouldn’t pay £250,000 for the privilege.

Still happy with my V2, very quiet bike, I have a 1.5 angleset on mine and it still climbs pretty well for what it is. There is a fair chance I would get a V3 in the future.

Hmmn, possibly I’m mixing up Rollercoaster with Hogans run?! From the church car park it’s the first trail you hit, down a fast straight, the trail drops off, very fast , then a small jump, some roots and into a well built left hand berm, three small drops and then the bigger drop over the tree?! This is the damaged trail!

    Bagstard

The main Rollercoaster trail should still ride okay once cleared, just a bit less lip on the drops to pop off.Need to do a scouting run from now on though, it’s such a fast track in places, could have been very messy!
