Or plan C, give up on the swingarm and just hide the gear cable under the chainstay protector. This is exactly what Commencal have done with the V4 frames!

Mega AM275, Commencal meta sl, Commencal meta V4 and about to build an on one 45 650b.Self imposed bike building ban next year, maybe… Might try and make it to Woburn this weekend.

What fork is going on it? I love new builds and hate them at the same time, all the searching for bits and waiting for them to arrive…
this will be my fourth for the year!

Looks nice mate, I am currently building up a cheap hardtail for winter, have to meet up at Woburn soon!

I feel your pain, two messers so far on a frame I’m selling. The other thing is insultingly low offers, whilst I want to tell them to f off, I just don’t respond.

Admittedly it was after an extended period of rain, but I wont use them again.

I used to be a big fan of esi grips, but when it rains heavily your hands just slip off them, not confidence inspiring at all. I’m on Raceface half nelsons now and wouldn’t go back.

Love my spank spikes, grippy, wide, wafer thin, not sure on longevity though?!

Another vote for saint here, just changed from zee at the weekend, well worth the extra money.

    Funnduro, nice, cheap and light!

That is good to hear thanks, sounds like a bargain then!

Inspired by a chap from Notre dame?!

There are some lovely looking bikes around at the moment, then there is this!

Thanks for that, seems a bit of a backwards move!

    That’s brilliant, thanks everyone.

Don’t forget the stealth granny ring option! Just manually lift it over if facing prolonged climbs. It is always nice to know it is there for emergencies.

Tubeless ready rims!!! Looks a hell of a deal, maybe a little lacking in reach though?!

Well the state of the roads these days…

A friend of mine has recently chopped in his 06 Heckler with 36 floats and DHX5 for a Boardman team fs and he loves it. Much lighter, pedals better, longer tt and with the slightly bigger wheels just as good on the DH.

He has changed the gearing to 1×10 shimano, dropper and wider bars and it has been fine at BPW.

I’m currently running charge front and rear on my Mega am, great on the front, but as said far too draggy on the rear for anything other than DH, i’m tempted to try a roam on the back. Probably the easiest tyres I have ever used tubeless.

All the above reasons for me, I hate front mechs ant the noise they make. Stealth granny ring for emergencies.

I have used the ghetto method in the past and it is ok, but nothing beats proper tubeless rims and tyres. To stand a fighting chance you want at least one of the two to be tubeless ready. That tyre and rim combo sounds like a recipe for serious burping!

Problem solved, some idiot had put the washers in the wrong place.

I can’t say I noticed anything out of the ordinary with them, but I’m probably not that fussy!SLX on my new bike and I can’t say I noticed any difference.

Hi Doug, I never actually tried it in the end, but think it would be fine apart from the nice saint chainring bolts wouldn’t be usable.

I have my saint cranks for sale if interested?! 175mm with 83mm BB.

That DMR looked pretty good, but over 100g heavier than than the funnduro! 8O

Funnduro for me, very light, very good price… not broken yet.

I’m thinking of doing this to save my trail wheels on an uplift to Antur, which can be pretty hard on wheels and tyres! My cranks are 170mm and pedals only 12mm thick, so should be fine?!

I’m just building one up at the moment, seems nicely made and they look so much better in the flesh!

This is for an air fork, but the pdf’s only show 100-130-160, not 170mm.

I will check that link thank you bedfordrd.

I can’t really answer about sram, but I use a 40t T-Rex with a short Shimano Zee and it works great. Can’t imagine the sram mech being shorter?!

Thanks for that scruff, did you manage to remove the top cap? My googling suggests this wasn’t possible and there were issues trying to replace a seal?

The usual, get fitter, ride more, get my mojo back, sell of all the kit I don’t need and not buy any new bikes.

I just got one from CRC, it arrived in a plastic bag rather than a rockshox box, so OE I would think.

May as well be comfortable, but yes I’m a softy. Forecast looks dry for the day, so hoping to do both XC and hopefully a couple of sneaky uplifts.

My CCDB is great, but I think I noticed a bigger difference between the Dueler and Van RC than the Dueler and CCDB! With the ti spring it is a bit of a bargain really and great backup from Loco.

    Bagstard

I’ve had both, but now run a CCDB coil(different bike)The Dueler is a great shock, ran it on an alpine 160 and then a Patriot, not too heavy with it’s ti spring and it was fit and forget. It felt bottomless on harssh landings where the van felt a bit harsh.

Just ordered the spikes, thanks for everyones input.

The main contenders at the moment are the spike and the atlas, the canfields and podiums seem a bit elusive on google! The bike they are on will only be used a fraction as often as most riders on here, so longevity may be less of an issue for me if everything else is right.
