Being able to take the tokens out made a real difference for me, reduced arm pump to nothing.

640 sounds like an ETT measurement, my airdrop Edit has longish reach at 468.2, but 640???

My feeling is really long reach suits short legged, long bodied people the most.

Just back from a bone dry and stupidly hot Bike Park Wales and really impressed with my luftkappe yari, so much more composed than before and much easier on the hands.

As a heavier rider I would be looking at the yari or lyric, depending on intended use. One of the super cheap yari’s with an easy £62 luftkappe upgrade makes for an excellent bargain fork.

When I switched to flats I kept slipping pedals on rough descents, moving my feet further forward really helped. Five tens cover up a multitude of sins.

Yes, we are all different, my Large Edit v2 and 170mm reverb still has 35mm exposed below the collar and I am only five eleven and running low profile 12mm deep pedals. The Edit is a nice long bike with decent reach, but personally I wouldn’t want it much longer.

Thing is I need the long seat tube for height, I have stupid long legs for my height and big feet, so always masses of seat post showing. The size large Edit and zero fit great with a 35mm stem, but I wouldn’t want any more reach or any less seat tube.

Very happy with my Edit, certainly the quietest of the many bikes I’ve
owned and it doesn’t seem like a bike that would require warranty, feels bomb proof! Sizing feels spot on for me, the large feels similar to my large Bird zero tr, but I think a large Aeris would be too long for me. Both great companies that give the personal touch.

I’m impressed he managed to get up and start the abuse so quickly, I would definitely just be groaning at that point!

I would echo what other above have said, Swinley isn’t great on a hardtail, fast and smooth into rock hard breaking bumps is a bit hard going.Ride somewhere else and take the time to get your arms and legs back in the game.

Hopefully getting my frame tomorrow, come on postie!

My experience of dual position Pikes was poor small bump sensitivity, running lower pressures resulting in a very divey fork.

Many new forks arrive pretty dry from new, so a lower lube service is always a good idea. While they are open stick in a luftkappe, ditch the tokens and you are still quids in.

Yari plus lufftkappe, update the damper at a later date if you feel the need.

Nothing really up with the meta Stace, mostly I really like it, but I would like a bit more reach. Doing the same climbs on the meta and my zero there is much more effort needed to keep the nose down and I am always thinking if only I had this much room on the meta.

Looks solid! What height are you and what size frame please?

    Surely an angleset reduces reach?

chief, how do you find the slacker settings affect climbing?

As someone who has overdone it in the past I would say less is definitely more.

Love the stealth black and the orange, oh and the green! Most likely my next frame purchase.

The tr is also a lovely looking bike, great geometry, light and strong with amazing warranty and backup. Although standards do keep changing the Hornet does seem a little old fashioned, the 142mm rear axle means I can swap wheels with my full suss.

Have you looked in to cycle2work? That’s how I got me zero.

Another vote for plastic, I have both electrons and chester and like them both. Bearings seem to last so much better than the expensive pedals I also have.

I have a pike at 130mm on my hardtail and a yari with luftkappe at 160mm
on my full suss and like them both. Ultimately I may buy a charger damper for the yari, but I haven’t felt the need so far.

Let us know how the loctite goes. Mine were making a horrible noise in Italy last year, more of a crack than a creak and no warranty option.
I looked at all options form a new CSU, to having it rebonded, neither being cheap. Luckily I managed to get a second hand CSU at a good price and no issues so far.

I am 5’11” with long legs and short body, I ride a large with a 45mm stem. My friend is 5’9″ with short legs and long body and rides a medium with 50mm stem.

My other bike is a size large commencal meta AMV4 which I would prefer to be a smidge longer in reach.

Another vote for the zero tr, still love mine.

If you intend to keep riding Revo etc I would go swoop or capra, although the Aeris is said to ride way beyond it’s travel.

Might be an option jondoh, I am looking at all avenues.

Hmmn, not keen on the sound of that. Would the rubber bark not have the sam effect, except for being invisible?

X-fusion sweep are great for the money, not far off pike performance.

How much extra for the pikes? Perhaps go with the yari (Lyric chassis) and source a lyric damper for it, quite a few pike CSU issues, my own included.

I used them on my mega am275 with a big mavic charge tyre, not the most clearance ever, but it worked. Should be no problem with a more modest tyre. Mine were air, but coil are available, as above I’m pretty sure it is one or the other.

Just spoke to a friend who is a fighter and he said to go with the mitts and only use wraps on heavy days or you become reliant on them.

They look like the should fit the bill Dez.

The bag is filled, not sure what with though, currently 30kg, but I think you could add to it. It will be anchored to the floor with a strong band as I only have 180 degree of space to work with.

I don’t have particularly big hands, but the ones I have tried so far seem really snug. In the past I just used bag mitts without wraps, but I am getting more safety conscious these days. Some of the online advice was saying to wear heavier gloves for a better workout.

Hi nickc, read the book from the start, recipes at the end are pretty crap. I wouldn’t say it was demonizing protein, just the fact that we eat far too much of it, especially strength trainers like myself. As I said previously I am now eating a plant based diet as much as possible and feel much better for it.

The book teaches you how to judge studies and is in in my mind very transparent. What was it you found to be inaccurate and can you back it up? Anyway get back to me after reading, I was skeptical at the start.

slimjim, I am glad you have bought the book, but bear in mind it wont be telling you what you want to hear, quite the opposite in fact.

I fully understand why people like Atkins style diets, I have done them myself, the initial weight loss (water) makes you feel great and I loved the food, unfortunately it just isn’t good for a long life.

Nickc- I would agree with you, however I feel this is the end of my search, I have read many many books on nutrition and health, tried many different ways of eating. A year or so ago my opinions were very different, but I can’t see them changing now. It isn’t one mans theory, if you do read it I would be very interested in your opinion.
The few people I know who have read this book have now changed the way they eat.

nickc, I don’t have time for debate, all I will say is that absolutely every variable is discussed, explained and backed up with the best scientific research available.

I have never been overweight, but have been primal for almost a year, which is very close to Atkins. Since reading the above book I am convinced enough to give up all animal products, this coming from a protein drink guzzling gym monkey.

The book is written by a bariatric surgeon in America who previously advised his patients to use a low carb diet, except they kept putting weight back on.
