I’m thinking about it – but will probably bottle it at the last minute and use the excuse that it’s a 2 hour drive from Leicester

I’ve got one – I read the Road CC report – but got it anyway.

I’ve just finished building it and it hasn’t turned a wheel yet, but it looks right therefore I believe it WILL be right.

Incidentally I’ve also got a Maverick ML8 – which gets slagged of in some road tests – I bought it 6 years ago because I liked the look of it – never had a test ride – and it’s great.

Finally I’ve got a Genesis i0 – four years old – guess what it gets slagged off in some test reports. I bought it ’cause I liked the look of it, never had a test ride – and it’s great

It was much busier than normal today.
There was a “Hell Run” on (which doesn’t account for extra on FTD) but did add to traffic elsewhere and also a Retrobike Event.

    We’re talking about 2 different events here;
HONC is full – it’s in the Cotswolds.
HOTN is ?? – never heard of it before, but it’s probably not full.

Ignore the doubters – I’ve had one for 4 years (still got original Conti tractor tyres on) and never regreted it or see any reason to change it.
    Go for it!

Sorry, I re-read you question after posting, but if you have the hubs you can input the relevant dimensions on here.

You really should be ashamed – if there was an RSPCB I’d report you.

Was looking forward to it but my CX frame has only just arrived so I’ll not be able to assemble in time – ah well :*(

I’m guessing that there’ll be a roughly 50:50 split on opinion?
I can only speak for the Genesis, I’ve had one since they first came out, it’s great, try as I might I can’t justify upgrading to a “better” bike. In four or so years, it’s had a few chains, new rear wheel bearings, new grips and that’s it…………
oh sorry a few upgrades, Shimano LX brakes as it used to have single piston calipers as standard which were rubbish, and a WI freewheel due to shimano one freezing up in cold weather.
It’s still got the original conti tyres on I’ve just realised after all those years!

train, train, train some more. then carry your bike up some silly steep inclines (1st is worst), get shaken to death on the descents and generally ride in agony for 4-5hrs. collapse. eat. vow to definitely come back next year 1hr later.

Only 1 hour? Mountaun Mayhem normally takes 24h to 1 week!

Just waiting for CTW voucher to arrive for Cotic >X<, changed my mind at the last minute from a Surly Cross Check.
End objective is to do 3 peaks CX this year which may prove to be a stupid idea!

I use the half tights for running & at the gym, they’re very comfy and I’ve never pulled a muscle with them on (but I might not have anyway) – couldn’t really say if they are any better than cheaper alternative though.

They are standard bearings from an engineering supplier, you’ll see the ref no. on the seals when yuo get them out.

I have to report service is back to normal, ordered stuff on Monday night, it arrived this morning.

Suspect it was either Pin Dale or the Roman Road, Pin Dale is a byeway, Roman Rd is a bridleway that used to be a byeway (I think), so Pin Dale OK for motorbike, Roman Road not OK.
    But I might be wrong.

I saw a baguette yesterday – not sure what the filling was, but despite being quite hungry I left it alone.

There’s a route right on your doorstep, up to Hayeswater and the Knot then turn left all the way to Pooley Bridge and back along the shores of Ullswater.

I'd go for the thrash every time over a kick, you can end up hurting yourself from a poorly timed kick.
A scream outloud directed to the heavens can sometimes be beneficial.

Certainly a new set of bushes from …….. used to be Mojo for Fox? (been a few yeas now since I had a Prophet)
You might getr away with just replacing the bottom one and save the other one for later.

It's definitely my fave ride, but the 6 hour drive limits it to a once a year if I'm lucky kind of experience.

I was thinking maybe some time space continuum whereby when you entered onto the real crossing you were somehow tranported here, where you could cross safely without risk of being run over, then when you came out the other side of the mock crossing you were transported back to the real one?
I've seen that kind of thing on telly, but I'm not sure if its commercially available yet?

and yes it is easy to navigate – only one thing to remember, after you've crossed the railway line and the road – turn right, there is a marker but many don't see it because they are probably gormless.

It's running like a dream at the mo',
There are some good climbs, but I'm an old foggie and I only do it on my singlespeed, so anyone young enough to have a "jump" bike – whatever they are! should get round OK.

It can be a bit slippy in the wet due to the shiney pebbles that form the trails, but you won't be dissappointed – unless you are one of the miserable malcontents who frequent these here forum!

I'm not saying I would have done it, but was it advertised anywhere?
Perhaps no-one turned up because they didn't know it was on?

It may be possible with patience and an oil free adjustable spanner to tweak it back – if you're any good at truing wheels and that kinda thing.

I liked it the way it is in my head at the moment – from what I recall from two years ago, it was mostly downhill all of the way, it was bone dry, infact I coasted most of the way around – then I woke up!

I got a Peli Micro case, and with a bit of inventive velcro it sits perfectly on the shoulder strap of my camelbak, so it's right where you need to get to it in a hurry. The case is pretty much indestructible, nearly waterproof and quick to open / close – although I do worry that my collarbone might be at risk if I did fall on it!

Suppose it depends what is more important – your collarbone or your camera?

    Stopped here two weeks ago.
    Great breakfast.
    Spitting distance of Dalbeattie Forest.
    Secure bike store.
Wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

I got mine from Bikedock in NI, I live in the Midlands, no problems!
How reputable is th dealer you are buying from? They're all reputable aren't they? 8<)

I'm off up weekend after next. Not been for 2 years. I won't be doing "the chute", nor will I be doing "the slab" at Dalbeattie, despite "doing" them a number of times in my dreams only to wake up and find that in the real world I am a wimp!

You'll find what you need here – http://www.maverickbike.com/main/do/Manual_PDFs
It's worth a clean for starters, I had a rear fox shock on a previous bike that used to respond positively to a regular clean, I mean it would loose air – then following a good clean of the seals it would be fine.
