We rode( I mean carried 8O ) our bikes from HardKnott Pass into Dunnerdale Forest following the bridleway (which is totally unridable BTW) on Sunday and I can honestly say if there was one patch of Forestry Commission land which is crying out to be the next Winlatter/ Bike park / Place to go Dunnerdale Forest is it.

Seems to be just crying out of development. The only thing is if it took 100K to get the trails in Philips Park in Manchester (which are well worth it IMO 8) ) to put in the trails what it would cost, god only knows BUT on those banks it would be well worth it in the long term :D

Totally agree I’ve done a fair bit of filming professionally and for myself it’s a pain in the arse.

To shoot a half decent film yourself you need two days first one to shoot all the on bike/camera footage and do the bloody ride LOL. The second for the side shots shots of yourself and B roll.

I shoot a fair bit of B roll and location and if on your own especially this year with going back to a car from a van is where the F&*k do I put the bike while I’m out lugging sliders, camera and tripods. Still working this one out at present…….

The main thing is you want to enjoy the ride but going back and shooting x shot 3 x just to make sure just kills the bloody enjoyment for me of just getting out on the bike.

If I can keep up with my regular riding buddy I’m fine, as he is ten years younger than me and been riding a hell of a lot longer :D

In techy section I tend to lead the way but in the fast smooth sections I let him get lead the way.
My brother on the other hand 3 years younger any down hill I get out of his way as after he spending 12 months in Whistler riding the bike park runs on his daily commute home, I know I’ll just get in his way LOL

Should just wait until all the big wigs are doing another march past in that square of there and get rid of the lot in one go with the least collateral damage.

At least we are out of range don’t want my ridding to get disrupted this summer, sod law says we get the first decent summer in years but cannot go out due to nuclear fall out :D

I currently have maxxraxx 4 bike although I’ve only used it for 2 bikes here are some points to bar in mind.
It’s a bloody solid piece of kit been well impressed with it.

BUT take into account when buying it you WILL need the lightboard/number plate and if you have FS bikes you WILL need the x-bars as well as until yesterday we had been mounting the FS upside down on it to rest the frame on the maxxraxxx and not the shocks 8O

But when I tried to take the DH bike out at weekend I had an epic fail of after 20 min of playing around just could not get it on due to the placement of the shock so now just bit the bullet and ordered the X-bars.

Overall good piece of kit but you will need the extras that go with it. :-)

Firstly I don’t own the house we have NOT bought it together it’s hers she owns it so her house her rules (we are not married) I just live there.

Also I want an easy life every time I make a change there’s a big F*&king row so the thought of asking for space for another bike TBH I just cannot be arsed.

Cheers for the helpful comments though :-)

At least when she asks me to take her out in the summer for a bike ride I can say “sorry love not got a bike for you to ride” every cloud and all of that :D

TBH I’d go with a decent rear bike rack that you can remove got one of these http://www.maxxraxx.co.uk/for my Shogun Sport has security cable just put decent locks on it I know if I was pulling bikes in and out of the back seats even without wheels the pedels would ripp the crap out of the seats.

If you want me to test it for size (carefully! 8O) let me know after all the Shogun Sport is just a L200 with a boot. :-)

Thrown mag out but I’m not sure it might have been Mountain Bike UK a month or 2 back it was in a green coloured section on a right hand page showed 4 peaks lower 1/4 of the page my mate may still have a copy I’ll ask him tomorrow so i can double check :?:

    badllama

I’m not a bloody troll the mag a well know uk one listed several peaks on its page and Scafell was mentioned FFS

    http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=317500&y=500500&z=120&sv=eskdale&st=3&tl=Map+of+Eskdale,+Cumbria+&searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf

go north from link above to Scafell Pike (sorry about previous spellings) just south of the top is a collection of rocks called Broad Stand there is then a footpath down from there going to Hard Rigg (Hardrigg Gill) this then runs into the top of a bridal way on the right hand side of Burnmoor Tarn.

That is what I though the mag was on about

midlifecrisis sound like the way I’m looking at :-)

Strange in the mag they stated the run down from Brown Stand (I read it as Broad Stands and a possible typo) to Tongue Moor was a hell of a run.

But looking at it all footpaths? I though it was unusual for a mag to recommend a cheeky run?? Anyway cheers for the info guys :-)

Specialized Camber 2012 (26″ wheels) rocks! (Elite version to be exact) :D THE best bike I’ve ever ridden.

It just feels totally apart of me now when I’m out on the trails. I’ve been on a few rides where I’ve hit rough stuff a little above my skill level and I’ve took fingers off the brakes and let it go and it’s done the business every time 8)

If I was going for desktop and will be myself shortly I’d have a good hunt round Fleabay or build on yourself for video editing I’d go for i7 myself plus plenty of RAM and a good chunk of storage.

Read the feedback if using a Fleabay supplier that for sure. The main issue I have is whether a modern unit will have the space for my aging VT card which is the size of a surf board LOL.

I’d stear away from laptops for video editing as usually you want a big a screen as possible and as much power as possible for the cheapest price and desktops usually fit the bill. Plus you can throw plenty of drives into a big case for all that HD storage you will need 8)

To be honest I’ve stopped using supermarket stuff I had loads of issues with it in my van now in my new (to me) car I always find it starts better using stuff from a local garage don’t know why just does?

So always use that from now on

Ok I’m not going to win any friends here but here it goes

The reason we go through them is
    1) We have driven a fookin long way to ride a certain trail so we will ride it to tick it off the list.

    2) There is NEVER a sign posted diversion sign to follow.

    3) The ones we have gone through were perfectly rideable.

I’ve picked up a Shotgun Sport was looking at L200s but though a car was better for storing day to day stuff in out of sight.

I’m well please can get 2 bikes in with the front wheels off but just got a maxxraxx ( http://www.maxxraxx.co.uk/products.html ) for the back so more of us can go out at the same time and stops getting all the S%&* in the car after a ride. :D

On the top loop watchout for lots of holes (full of water) as you come into(at the front) the berms after the “forgotten name” marsh bit where its really open some are very deep all the wooden boardings are deadly if wet do not touch your breaks!
We were up there last week doing both loops some puddles on both loops on the trails are bloody deep so keep your whits about you :-)
