While your up there go round the other side and try “Ice Cream Run” (car park at bottom)and ” Dog Kennels” if you get the chance “Dog Kennels would be a bit tame on a DH rig though I guess.

If you turn left outside the Black Dog pub (coming from a Bolton direction) follow that road over the back of Rivi and just before you start descending into Rivi viallge the car park for “Ice Cream” is on you left

    &searchp=ids.srf&mapp=map.srf]Ice Cream Car Park

The car park between Mosses Corker and the Hall word in the Rivington Hall Barn name on the map. Have fun and take the first runs a little easy :D

I’ve had my biggest and hardest “Offs” on SM :?

Somewhere near the bottom if you go in from the other side you will be adding even more pain :D
I was told by a couple of fell runners the other day from the edge of the small wood (at the bottom) to the gate at the top is exactly 1 mile BTW

Watch the main road at the bottom very fast stretch full of motor bikes doing daft speeds at weekends. I suppose you would have to park in the village somewhere (Belmont).

At least you can look at the lines on the way up :-)

Been there twice first time for a software convention type thing, the 2nd as a tourist.

Ok to visit but would not live there for all the tea in China. Getting off the train from there into Manchester made Manchester feel like a small village. :-)

But what happens then is she get wound up to the fact I can remember 8O

I always find while watching TV she will to talk about the usual crap so now I just power down the TV and look at her and she goes quiet. I turn it on again and she talking again I’m sure the two are linked by the TV remote in some way :D

Talked with a good friend of mine who is a teacher and says the first 12 months are a nightmare but once you get to grip with the fact you will NEVER get it all done it eases the pressure somewhat.

And he worked all Sundays and most evening until he drew the conclusion he will always be behind and just accept it.

    Hi all,
Well I was at media city the other week with regards to 4K and to be honest there is very little content out at present, sports (as usual) will eventually lead the way with regards to 4K but it will be another premium channel I think.

In your living room depending on the size of it, of course you will see very little difference in quality of content. We were watching content on a 4K projector in a studio projected at (approx) 20 feet wide and even still the HD stood up very well against the 4K footage. The detail in 4K is stunning though

I think what may/is happening everything will be shot in 4K (or 6 or 8 TBH) and then finally sent out at HD for a whlie which means before everything is 4K your HD will start to look VERY VERY good.

We are capturing 4K at present which is making storage and post a bit of a nightmare with regards to file sizes but all the commercial stuff is still at a HD final output.

Oh and UHD is not TRUE 4K just like 1280 was never TRUE HD :-)

I tend to take the line out (or headphone socket) 3.5 mm then send it into a cheap hifi with line in socket(3.5 mm) on it (which has a “Subwoofer”) quiet good sound :-)

We have a works do every year at Christmas I went last year and just hated it so will never bother again.

To be honest as I get older I just have little time for people full stop, my mates are my mates most of the rest outside work i would not be seen dead with.

I have a milk shake (banana) and a Lucozade (sports drink) once I get the Muckoff on the bike and are waiting for the 5 mins they recommend for cleaning.

Certainly helps with lack of aces the next day

If you ever want a hand mate just give me a shout I’ll sort out an email address in my signature soon.
We are usually up there on Sundays but can do the odd evening if you want to meet up.

“Have you tried the new bottom section? Turn right just before you would pop out onto the fire road half way down the hill.”
It’s that before or after the big final left turn?

Last time we were up there nearly wiped out some walkers coming up the DH trail 8O

Stevet1 the skills section has been **** for ages after rain gone OTB the puddles are that deep!

Just out of interest anyone recommend a decent folding shovel to carry on the bike?

FFJA has it I’m a ex-gamekeeper as well, all be it lowland.

It’s the distubance factor (nesting ground game) and maybe your safety as well.

We used high powered rifles day to day around the estate in 12,000 acres of private forestry and farmland (one foot path 1/2 a mile from our main wood, which was 800 acres alone ) an on one occasion I had red socks walk into the view down my scope 8O

Right in the middle of the main wood how the **** they got there god knows. It was only when they got within 25 yeards of me and I threw the bags hide I was in off me did they see me and shit themselves.

I ended up giving them a lift back down to where they should have been they were that far away from the footpath

I wear one now and again if it’s really hot. Did Borrow Dale Bash last year in one as it was fooking roasting.

My tops of the arms were toasty by the end of the day. 8O I personally run “hot” anyway and what ever cools me down regardless of look i’ll do TBH

I was once taking pictures of the flyball team in Heaton Park (public park) with the the clubs permission when one woman said she did not want me to take pictures of her dog as it was like taking pictures of kids! 8O

I kid you not! I told her as we were in a public park (and so public space) I could take photos of whatever I wanted. She then stood in front of me while all the other members of the team did there stuff with their dogs.

It was an intresting conversation i had with the club memeber who had give me the orginal concent to take the photos when she did not get any for the clubs web site. FFS

Max i’d say 160 mm but normal trail riding 140 is plenty.

I’ve Spesh Enduro which has switchable 140 – 160 on the front only for big Lakes descents do I use the 160mm.

We ususal park just up from the School just on the way to the barn.
Then head all the way up to the Dog Kennels then (up) Dog Kennels to the road up to the mast then San Marino.

At the bottom if we are in for a long one we go left head towards Belmont then right and follow the road to the Witten Weaversway then towards Great Hill or out even further Whitton Weeavers Way to Cadshaw.

For a short one at the road at the bottom of San Marino turn right then follow main road then right up Scout road to the cross roads then right Up towards then across Smithhills Moor across the Moor to the tower again.

Then Dog Kennels (down), Ice Cream run (Down)At the bottom of Ice Cream run go left over stile and little bridge (cheeky run)follow back turn left then right and end up back at the barn :-)
