I picked it up built, but the box that came with it only contained some anti-cable rub stickers and a cheap spanner. I since realised that it is missing the chainstay protector that seems to be on every other Remedy I've seen.

Yay Brechfa! I always really enjoy riding there, the berms are brilliant fun. Now then, dual compound Nevegals or 60a High Rollers?

    Never owned one, but

    damn liability

    seems very likely.

I think the V8 is slightly less ruinous than the V12, but both can cost thousands to put right especially for the horrendously complex electrical systems.

Honestly, the best way to find out is to ride one, and to take it on a proper test ride for several hours. I've never found anyones description of a bike to quite match my own experience. If you were considering buying one, even hiring a Five (or anything else for that matter) for the days is money well spent.

ps. For the benefit of Gary: I hear the Orange Five is great if you fear progress and technology 😀

I bet its the clip bit that holds the pads in the caliper. Whenever I put the pads back in, unless you get them straight they can be a pain to push in. Make sure you got them the right way around and just keep trying slightly different positions till they clip in. I found it easier to do with the whole assembly together.

Wow looks like I got off easy. Nose dived off a drop off and landed on my shoulder a few weeks ago. Still hurts a little bit but I have full strength back now. Apparently baring any serious injury it’s important to keep it moving as you can easily develop a frozen shoulder. Because there are many tendons going through a small area in the shoulder, any injury or inflammation takes a relatively long time to heal :(.

Never used it on my Revs, never used it on my Float RLCs, don’t have it on my Lyriks. So no 😛

I like my suspension to do it’s thing all the time.

“I asked why his winter bike wasn’t wearing a coat. I was ignored for several hours for being a sarcastic and uninterested wife. “

    Ahahaha brilliant!

    @agentdagnamit

Any chance of passing on an email for this guy? I recently lost some bikes in north Bristol.

Lol I think that’s down to the imager being slower than the rotors.

I imagine it will say in the manual which should be available on the specialized website.

If you do ride the Preselis I’d recommend a pint outside the Dyffryn Arms, Cwm Gwaun, on a sunny afternoon.

This is where me and my mates would meet for rides as a teenager. Good times! Does Bessie still run the place? Ask her about her wedding ring interface with a milking machine 😀

I’ll be riding at a leisurely pace on a hardtail I borrowed from my sister. I reckon cider will be involved later in the day for extra lols.

Not quite the same but I always run less air than I officially should in both Fox and Rock Shox air forks. Suppose it’s more of a guide, so if you’re not getting the correct performance from a spring, just move to the next one up or down. Sounds like you need to go back to what you had before.

Free Windows7 until next year: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx

Win7 is already better than Vista and it’s not even released yet. Vista is great when it works, but when it breaks its horrible and this is not uncommon. Granted things improved drastically after SP1 but not enough. I moved directly from WinXP to Win7 about 1 month ago.

When I had mine would tend to use alot of the travel, but I think that was what made it ride so well. The trade off of this nice and low riding position is pedal strikes unfortunatley. I compounded it by having wide flatties, but meh you get over it. If you have a bike that rides high enough to avoid pedal strikes it feels too tall (Like the Marin Quad Links in my experience).

I’d get the Rebas. Ive never owned SIDs but they always seem too compromised to get them as light as possible. I think the Rebas will give a better suspension action and are probably stiffer too. None of this is based in actual fact though so it is of limited use! Going to anything with a bolt through will be a huge improvement in stiffness.

Gary was running too much pressure in the shock, I did try to tell him!

My Meta was great on both climbs and downs. No need for any fancy pro-pedal as I never experienced pedal feedback or bob unless I forced it. They are small short bikes for the size which I like, but some people dont like feeling cramped. The upshot is that this makes it feel much more controllable for me, especially jumping and cornering. My only complaint was that the low BB meant frequent pedal strikes.

Almost 6′ and had a medium until it was stolen. Felt perfect for me, but I like small bikes.

Why would you get 18% less than a bikes valuation, does the policy not give “new for old” cover?

Anyone had any experience with Prestige Underwriting? They are handling my claim but I’m wondering how long it’s all going to take. Bike withdrawal 🙁

Even if they still use 15mm spacers, they probably have two in there so you could just cut one down, or get a different sized one.

I got hit at some point last night too, Sea Mills here. Found the garage door kicked in and my bikes taken. At least in my case they didn’t axe their way into my house 🙁

It does increase the damping yes, but only from hard to harder!

    Badgerpoo

Nah Ive set both the rebound and compression damping to minimum. It does feel like the compression is set too high tho, even on minimum.

    Badgerpoo

    Nooooo! That’s a pretty expensive option 🙁

Maybe I’ll try checking out the compression cartridge…

    It’s the 5WT version of this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=112

Yes full movement through the travel with no air.

atm the chambers are equal in pressure, the problem does feel more like its casued by damping but I’ll double check that later. Possibly what science officer says.. how would I check that?

Would too much oil just limit travel and not affect the travel you get? They still have full travel fwiw.

    Badgerpoo

ATI 4850 or 4870 depending on how much each costs atm. I’ve had a 4850 for the past year and it’s fab.

I’m running just a rear brake on my commuter at the mo cos the front one broke. I’m riding noticeably slower as I have to anticipate far more, I’d be toast if I had to emergency stop as you can only scrub so much speed with just the rear wheel.

Much better having both brakes as you can pull stoppies and massive skids, Hooyaaa!

I’ve had two collapsed lungs. first time was a full collapse resulting in 3 weeks hospital stay and a long period of recovery after that. Second time was only partial, about an inch gap at the top of my lung which took about 4 weeks to be re-absorbed and clear.
