What’s the difference between 2011 and 2012 other than the black collar?

The stuff in AShton Court is starting to roughen up, especially after oktoberfest. The trails should get more interesting as they bead in and get a bit more used.

Yes you can, you’ll need a U-Turn spring assembly and a U-Turn top cap. The negative spring may be the same but I’m not sure about that.

Next best option might be both an inner and outer bash ring/guide. Are press fit BBs ever a good idea?

I weigh approx 68kg and use extra soft. I tried running the soft spring for a while but would only ever get 130mm of travel at most. You just got to try different springs to find what suits your riding style I think.

Interesting, thanks. It is actually bike-components.de that I’m looking at as tehy are a very good price there!

The reason I ask is I know, for example, Specialized have an international warranty, and you can approach them directly and not through a retailer. This would make things a lot easier and faster.

Anyone with >100Mb will struggle to get a speedtest server that can handle the test properly. My PC has a gigabit conenction, which eventually becomes a 10Gb to the internet. It’s nice!

How would warranty be handled on a dropper post bought from Germany (eg bike-components.de)? Would it need to go back to the german shop first?

The 160 forks are the ones with travel adjust, but as it’s coil U-Turn it doesn’t affect plushness at all.

I’d go with the U-Turns as it will make the bike more versatile, but you don’t really lose out much if any downhill ability.

Get the thru-pins you big girl. Don’t bother with a fancy colour though as it just wears off under foot and over rock.

I’ve run a 22/36/bash with an E13 DRS for a while now on a 2009 Remedy and it’s great, but I’m swapping to a single front ring now with an E13 LG1+. I hardly ever use the granny ring so fancy trying 1×9 for a while. I ‘m using a bb mount back plate for the chain devices which works perfectly well.

I can confirm the 31.6 seat post size btw, perfect for an upgrade to a dropper post 😀

My Lyriks had very poor small bump compliance from new, when I opened them up to change the oil there was zero oil in either lower leg! Once I put in the requisite 15ml in they were transformed!

450 x 3" I would say. Springs typically have a few mill of free stroke more than the shock itself to prevent binding.

While this thread is here, can anyone help me out with what spoke/nipple I need for my Bontrager Rhythm front wheel? It's the one that comes standard on an 09 Trek Remedy 7. They have offset rims fwiw.

You have the wrong spring on it, but the shock itself is correct. Get a spring with the correct length on it and all will be well! If you run a shock with a stroke longer than the spring the spring will bind and make bad noises.

Is that front disc mount on the front of the right fork leg..? Presumably to allow front guard mounts?

I prefer The Wall, but they're both good fun. Man up and ride W2!

You need a lot of speed and to pump the up ramp a lot to get near the down slope, but it's worth it! You are prettty tired after the third one with the sheer effort of clearing them though. I find the Brechfa black run jumps much better and easier to boot.

There is a crazy zip line thing nearby that looks amazing fun, a bobsleigh next to pleney, lots of water sports, paragliding, hiking and much much more. Basically there is loads of stuff.

I recently put an e13 DRS on my Remedy for an Alps trip. also with no ISCG tabs. I think it introduces a small amount of pedalling resistance but keeps the chain on nicely. I'll be keeping it on for a while to see how I get on.

I understood the spacing to be the same as 135mm, but with the added part sitting in the frame to allow easier fitment of wheels, like on bolt through forks.

Girlfriend who is 5'1" rides a 16" reign with 50mm stem. I think it'll be too small for you, it would suck to have to run a long stem and ruin the handling.

    lol too true dirtbiker.

Managed to find a diagram eventually here: RockShox Diagrams

The previous owner had converted the fork from 2-Steps to U-Turn, but had left part of the air spring assembly where the top out spring goes, then plonked this part in the damper side lower 😐

All sorted now and the forks feel much better!

Even with a 73mm BB there should still be a spacer on the drive side (I think).

Nah you can get a float non-r that doesn't have the rebound damping adjuster. I would have thought the damping circuits are all pretty similar in the float range, with the higher models merely offering adjustment. If the rebound setting is good I wouldn't bother changing it.

I would think experience would count above all else so have lots of examples of what you've done and how you did it. Single most important thing, as with most jobs, is enthusiasm. If you can project lots of that you can't go far wrong.

I'm still using my ye-olde hard knox pads from the nineties. Everything out there at the moment looks pretty uncomfortable for wearing for extended periods of time 🙁

Not all reducers will fit so check first, it depends how deep the 1.5 section is inside the head tube.

The Trek Remedy is more of a competitor to the Specialized Enduro. The Trek Fuel EX is more equivalent to the Specialized Stumpjumper. Go and ride as many bikes as you can (And ride them properly for at least an hour or so on some good trails). I test rode lots of bikes last year when my Commencal Meta got stolen and it enabled me to make a much more informed choice about what to get. I ended up with a '09 Trek Remedy fwiw.

Jedi at ukbikeskills.co.uk is great, went on a group day with him not long ago and learned a lot. Best money I've ever spent on biking basically.
