What sort of mpg are you getting from your T5s and which is the most fuel efficient engine?
Are they on a par with run of the mill people carriers?

I don’t know about use for mental health either, but currently having acupuncture for a trapped nerve in the lower neck which was causing me real grief;shooting pains down one arm and unable to sleep, etc. it’s been brilliant!
I think it depends on getting the right practitioner. Mine was recommended through a friend and yes I was sceptical, but right from the first session, it was like witnessing a miracle! It was like peeling away layers of an onion, in that he stripped away the pain in my arm and shoulder. Again not sure about mental health, but otherwise I’m a convert.

Now I know why you call yourself unfitgeezer!! Seems to be working fine ATM with the occasional swish…

Sounds a bit daft, but I didn’t realise you could manually wind up the watch! All I’ve done is to swish it around so that the counterweight moves around – looking on the web I don’t think the Seiko 5 can be manally wound by any other method.

Thanks for all the advice; I’ll keep an eye on it. Not sure how many shakes constitutes a full wind, currently can’t find the instruction book, but I’m sure there should be something on the Seiko website.

Ok, apart from the obvious innuendos (!) , I suppose if you have a fairly sedentary day, then the watch could potentially not be wound up sufficiently. Just seems a bit odd that most days it’s ok, but had a couple of mornings when it’s stopped.

Great input so far; thanks everyone! Been looking at properties in Frome, Dilton Marsh and now Warminster. Unfortunately although Devizes would have been on the doorstep for work, my OH didn’t warm to to the place. We could rent for a while but would prefer to do a bit of ground work beforehand and then buy. Not sure I could stomach another move, etc. and all that entails, with schools and the kids. Unfortunately we don’t have a small fortune, so Malborough in terms of VFM is probably off the radar.

Thanks for the advice over the commute Orangeboy. Hopefully it’ll be better than the M25 in rush our!

Many thanks for further responses. I hope I haven’t created a supermarket turf war! So Warminster hasn’t quite got the arts and culture of Frome, but it sounds that on the whole there’s plenty to merit in the place! Hopefully will be visiting soon to see what sort of vibe I get…

Thanks for the responses; nothing massively negative. We’re moving from Chesham in Bucks, so used to the limited shopping experience and tend to travel to bigger towns for major shops, etc. My wife is just a bit concerned about the military impact on the town and also (quite rightly) wants to know about the schools; we have 6 and 9 year old daughters. Looking forward to exploring the MTB around the area if this becomes our town of choice!
So what of the school and anything else you want to throw in for comment?
Looking at Frome also, for the good vibe and “culture” but haven’t found the house!

If you want a folder that rides better than a Brompton have you tried a Birdy?
Tried them both back to back and preferred the Birdy for it’s more positive handling.

Funny isn’t it, I see the word liquorice and was immediately drawn to this thread! Yes I’m a bit of an addict too. Currently sitting here drinking licorice tea! Love the stuff…

Thanks for the review. Like you, I’ll probably wait for the black version and the price to drop before buying…

Thanks Onzadog; just assembled the black alloy block to the remote bar clamp – seems obvious now! Yes agree with your comment on the limiter, seems if fitted you could end up scratching the seat tube!

Thanks for the replies. So the silver collar is a limiter and the black plastic fluted fitting is zip tried to the post. How is the black alloy noodle with the hole in (cable routing? ) fitted?

Many thanks all; I’ll dis-assemble to see what I have installed before following the above procedure (thanks BB). But I’m with you Buzz-L, wish I had Shimano!

Sorry BearBack, I’m replying before refreshing the thread! So the Hope dust cover turning with the crank is a good thing! I’ll give this a go and see if I can remove all play, while still being able to spin the crank freely…

I think I only had one preload washer; when I swapped the RF for the Hope BB i just put everything back in place as per the original setup. Do I need to buy more washers – how do I “know” how many washers to install?

    badgerbater

Yes they are x-type, but I noticed that when done up “tight” the Hope bb dust cover started to turn with the crank arm; is this normal?

Apparently if it’s already been repaired it should have a blue sticker with an “R” on the inside door – mine doesn’t! Hence the service call…

An incredibly sad time and my thoughts are with you and the rest of your family. I think this forum is amazing and it’s heartwarming to see the outpouring of love and support – wonderful people. Stay strong and big hugs from me and my family.

Bingo! Thanks aracer, that did the trick; I now have the two separate drives as required. Thanks everyone for the input – the power of the STW forum does it again!

    Hi All,
Thanks for the replies. Can’t seem to format the disc from the device manager; there are no yellow symbols next to the drive (drive has been tested and all is ok). Under Disk Management the SSD appears as Disk 1 and the HDD second drive as Disk 0 – this has grey diagonal hatching across the “disc space bar” and is “unallocated”. When I right click it only allows “New Simple Volume” and “Properties”. Right clicking on the SSD will allow “Change Drive Letter and Paths”. Not sure what to do next…!

Ok read most of the thread, as like most I was looking to by (my daughter) a tablet for Christmas. This seems to be a two horse race between the iPad and Nexus. For cheap and cheerful what is wrong with buying on of these 7 inch android tablets off Amazon for around the £60 mark? “7inch Ultra thin SANEI n77 fashion 3D allwinner a13 cpu 8GB HDD Android 4.0.4 (Latest Ice Cream Sandwich) PC capacitive multi – touch 5 point screen 1.2 GHZ OTG WIFI 3G Tablet PC Supports Flash 11 by LélikTec”, etc. Don’t want to pay out a lot of dosh, but equally don’t want to waste money of something that will not work, etc. Please enlighten me.

On 2 July 2012, British Waterways ceased to exist in England and Wales and in its place the Canal & River Trust was born. Here’s a useful link for all your canal holiday needs and all things boating:

Out of interest, what size chainrings are you running and what is “standard” for the Alpine ‘cos it’s not mentioned on the Orange website.

Also suffered a direct strike in a yacht; I was steering via the stainless steel ship’s wheel and the lightning struck the mast, travelled down the back stays and through me! Apart from a kick (like being attached to the mains!) and temporarily deafened from the loud bang I was ok! The boat’s VHF radio was fried…

Yes, I should have seen the obvious retort to go single ring (1×9/10 or ss). I was just thinking there may be some more creative solutions out there. Milkie, that grunge guard looks worth considering. Does it work for top swing mechs?
PJM1974, “clean and lube” is my current solution, but I seem to be cleaning mid-ride quite a bit and hence the thread…

Thank you for the great responses so far. She’s managed to register a domain name with Cloud Next. Basically, she is offering a service. She wants a homepage with links to other pages which will include some imagery. She wants contact with visitors to the site via email and blogs as well as setting up a paypal service. It looks as though WordPress might be a good option?

When I look on CRC they’re usually selling the entire grip, end caps an’ all. It seems a shame to have to buy the entire assembly (still in good nick) when all I want is the rubber grip…
