Sorry, having a fit of giggles; I read it as “can I fit in my own log burner?”. My dyslexia kicking in big Time!

Cowchippers are very expensive, especially if they turn out that you don’t get on with them. Anyone know a cheapish source? Apologies, I didn’t intend to hijack the thread!

What I don’t understand is, I thought that the diesel engine was originally invented to burn a multitude of different fuels. Surely it’s the oil industry who should be looking at a replacement fuel to burn, rather than smelly old diesel. My view is probably oversimplified, but you get my point!

Apparently the P-X2 is a 20mm wide rim. So will say any 45 mm folding 29er tyre fit? Probably revealing my complete lack of knowledge on the 29er / 700c thing, are they essentially the same diameter wrt compatibility? There, I’ve said it!

I’m not sure if you are replying to my questions, or just a general statement about mtb rims. My question is whether 29er tyres will fit 700c rims? Specifically Giant P-X2 rims?

Perhaps I should be “googling” for the answer, but I saw this thread and so will ask the question. I have 700c rims on my CX bike, if space is available (currently running 40c Nano’s with no problems) can I fit any 29er tyre on these rims? For clarification, they’re a Giant P-X2 which came with the bike. Not even sure if I’m able to convert to tubeless?

The only thing is I think they cross-check your address as well for “new” accounts!

Just looked again and even the “% saving” is indicating a higher saving on the rrp on my tablet and yet the price adjustment via the laptop is proportionally lower! It’s all bonkers! Pricing are both in £s

Strange. On my tablet the price appears ex vat. Just logged on via my laptop and the prices are “with vat”. There I was, getting all excited and about to purchase a component upgrade – hopes now dashed! Ah, well…

Having had similar “issues” with tyres, I’d add; wet the rim and tyre bead with soapy water or even washing up liquid and then pump up to maximum recommended pressure on tyre – you should hear a “pop” as the rouge tyre finally reseats! Hope this helps…

Thanks for the replies. Yes, I’ll admit that I’m a luddite when it comes to TV tech! What’s a BD player, tell me it’s the same as Blu-ray?!

I don’t think it was just o-ring friction; it didn’t seem to matter how gingerly I undid the pump, the valve assembly just started hissing and then would be stuck good and proper in the pump housing! Good point about the speed chuck, I think I may have one somewhere.

The wind can “back”when it changes direction, but I’ve never heard of back wind only tail wind! Strange lot in those flatlands…

I think Stu has the right answer. In the comfort of my kitchen, tightening the Lezyne adapter all the way in seems to work, as it tightens the value assembly too. Out on the trail, I was frightened of not having a working pump, with a valve adapter stuck in its guts and a long walk home! Many thanks for the replies and a gold star to ss Stu!

Just got Tesco to unlock one of their phones for free, but now have to wait the mandatory 20 days before the phone becomes “live”. Then I’m pairing with 3’s 123 sim. Seems to be the cheapest way without having a monthly expiry.

Thanks legend. So changing to Plusnet appears to be a win-win.

Apologies for the thread hijack. I’ve been thinking about a move from BT, but have their BT youview TV package as well. What is the alternative for TV with Plusnet or am I missing something?

    badgerbater

Reason I’ve stayed with BT was not having to have half the drive dug up and holes through the walls for the broadband cable (previous house was with Virgin). Is there any way, with these alternative providers, of keeping the BT routing bit? I would want the equivalent broadband, TV, phone package.

Thanks for the comments. So has anyone had real world success with say 30ish psi on a CX wheel set up (not XC!)?

@jonwe, I’m talking CX bike but for all terrain riding. Will this still be a Stans tubless solution? I think the standard rims on my Giant TCX SLR1 may be tubless ready(?)

Been reading this thread with renewed interest. I’ve always ridden with tubes on my mtb (lube, tape, tyre seating all seemed way too much faff for the quick occasional repair), but having just got into CX riding, mixed road, bridleways and towpaths, my puncture rate has increased dramatically! Without stating the obvious I presume the above holds good for the CX bike? My rate of punctures on bridleways and towpaths is ridiculous! What’s the simplest least faff kit recommend for tubless conversion?

Frustrating that I can’t see any BBC coverage of the games while on holiday in Greece on t’internet! No footage of Cav’s skirmish on YouTube either other than “photos” of the aftermath…

@maccruiskeen – don’t want to be a kill-joy, but please make sure you get someone who knows how to use a gas monitor to check out that “hole” first, before you venture down! Don’t want you to become a statistic! Look up “confined spaces” on the HSE website, if you’re not already aware of these things. Just knowing that you’re safe would make me happy!!

Ok, panic over. After rebooting the Garmin, it appears to have installed the new update. Just need to install the new mapping updates; fingers crossed!!

Help!? Just tried to install the latest software and mapping updates on mine and the Garmin decided to switch off halfway through the update, possibly due to the screen saver switching off (could be coincidence?). Now when I try and to install updates it gives this error message: “there was an error installing this update”. Tried ejecting the Garmin and reinstalling, but the same message appears! What now?

Well I’ve swapped tyres and Inner tubes with rims and can confirm that there’s nothing wrong with the rims. The one good tyre seats perfectly on both. I’ve tried different inner tubes with the rogue tyre and get the same problem. Essentially, the tyre, a wire bead will not completely seat all the way around the rim. I’ve tried increasing the pressure but cannot get it to seat over a 200mm section, which creates the flat spot. I can’t fundamentally see any difference between the two tyres and it’s doing my head in!
Sorry, rant over. I think I’ll be taking it to my lbs and see if they have the answer. Thanks all for the replies.

Are you saying that going tubeless may solve the problem?

    badgerbater

No, the rims are fine. It’s like a “gimp” in the tyre itself. I thought it was the inner tube, so swapped over, but still has some form of localised deformation. It’s a Schwalbe super swan.

It’s not tyre wear, it’s difficult to spot without turning the wheel at a constant speed. Not sure what to make of it?
