Haven’t tried Google – sounds amazing! Just one other thing. The current GPX route is a “continuous” route. If I’m doing it over three days, will this cause problems in terms of stopping and starting the route? Will it try to “start” me from the beginning of the route each day? Or do I just leave it running in the background and switch off/recharge each evening?

Many thanks all. I’ll do just that!

BAR sustainability – I hope they manage to pick up all that carbon fibre from the course for recycling!

Without the foils, BAR would have definitely sunk and it would have been game over!

Looks like they had to nurse the boat around the course, with essentially a hole in the bottom. When they stopped at the dockside they all had to bail like fury to prevent it sinking! Hope they manage to repair for today’s racing.

Wonder if it’s worth contacting BT to see if they want their old kit returned?

I realise that Plusnet are basically a sister company, but my point is, that currently under my new contract with Plusnet I’m not paying for TV! Not really sure why I’m broadcasting this, but I suppose I’m just waiting for the inevitable to happen!!

Depends on the condition of the rest of your drive chain. I’ve put a new chain on with factory grease (SRAM) and the chain skipped and wouldn’t engage properly under load. Probably a combination of part worn cassette teeth and the “more rigid” chain, but it ruined the planned group ride, as I only discovered it when I needed “proper” traction! Just check the system under load, before a serious ride!?

Giant tcx slr1 or advanced. Loads of mud clearance and plenty around for pretty much any price point.

I know about Plusnet’s price increase, but it’s still cheaper than BT.

I use a Homeplug system to transfer broadband to our set top box, which is on the other side of the house and it works well.

Thanks all. I think I’ll do a bit more research before I press the button. But it looks like Plusnet are the way forward. So for the low fee of £13/mth, I assume you are paying the up front “saver” fee which for me would be about £255(?).

My package is for BB, TV and phone and Plusnet are £38/mth (+£5 for 78mb). With BT it would be £70.48/mth, down to £57.98/mth (76mb) after going through there retention service! I’m assuming the costs above (£18/mth) are for broadband only!

Currently colds. I’ve just got my second in a row and fed up with the constant runny nose and phlegm! And why always on a double bank holiday!?

My understanding is that the CR-V is 2wd, with 4wd only activating when needed. Mine appears to be averaging 35mpg. But as said only had it for a week!

2009 EX 2.0L petrol here. I’ve just taken ownership so difficult to make too many comments. Bought to replace a 2014 Qashqai diesel company vehicle which I really liked. Performance wise it seems just as nimble, but it feels a heavier car and I think I’m going to notice the fuel economy, as others have said, swopping from the diesel vehicle. But there’s far more boot space and cabin room. I was also surprised by the lack of roll around corners; handles just as well, if not better than the Qashqui.

Amazed to see one about 5pm a couple of weeks back. Pretty much broad daylight, as I was cycling along a canal towpath; admittedly it was under a canopy of trees, but a great sight and my first of the year!

Something a lot of people seem to forget and Halfords have to be “reminded” about is the 20% discount card which is valid for a year as part of their scheme! Great for all sorts of bike related parts and accessories. Don’t forget to phone the scheme helpline and ask for the discount card.

Thanks. I’m hoping to do the whole V5 and car tax paperwork on the DVLA website this week, before I drive the car home. Does it need a phone call to the DVLA as well?

Thanks again for the replies. #scotroutes that appears to be the best way forward. As it presumably means that on inheriting the vehicle, the value would be at the time of inheritance and not when the new V5 was issued to yourself? If anyone can clarify this it would be helpful. Cheers.

Thanks for the replies. It’s given me a bit more confidence regarding the transaction. Just need to make sure she’s around for at least another 7 years! 🙂

#tga as you say, the car will be gifted and yes I guess the V5 is the bill of sale. Just wondered as it is gifted whether some formal note of sale i.e. a receipt, would be prudent?

Lovely bike. But I’d go one further than CFh, shouldn’t the rear cable routing be on the other side of both the seat post and the head post? The fixings appear to be aligned to the lhs of the top tube!

What’s the fork compliance like? The bracing looks a bit too beefy compared to the Jones!

Thanks for the replies and advice. Panic over; I used the hex key from my trusty old Leatherman and I managed to shift it! New screws will be ordered!

    Many thanks all.

Forgot to mention that the hex head is countersunk so unable to saw across to use flat bladed screwdriver, etc.!

When you say “hammer” do you mean hammer drill?

I’ve had two bikes through the CTW scheme through Halfords and on both occasions I’ve just selected the bike I’ve wanted through independent cycle shops, then placed the order through Halfords.

Don’t forget to ask for the 20% Halfords discount card which usually comes as part of the scheme. They quite often fail to tell you about this!

Don’t rule out the Giant TCX SLR1, a brilliant bike and can easily fit up to 40c. Give one a ride if you can. Very compliant ride and IMO the geometry is spot on. The only thing currently is Giants colour scheme, very marmite!
Edit: actually the 2017 colours aren’t too bad!

Try 925engineering.com on Ebay approx £ 12.50 posted.

@househusband good shout “Have a look on eBay for 925engineering”. I’ve just ordered one and despite the weak pound, at £12.41 delivered, that seems a more acceptable price. From the photos, the quality looks good too!

@stuey a more realistic price, but unfortunately none of them are what I’m looking for! The one I quoted is stocked by Wiggle:

Many thanks. I’m hoping that the solicitor will be able to list the things we are able to process and those that they are better placed to deal with.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I’ve never been involved with probate, etc, before and things like “…these would vest with an executor without a grant so can be passed straightaway”, I find confusing!

I think one of the reasons my mum appointed a solicitor, apart from the immediate and continued grief which means she finds dealing with this sort of thing so overwhelming, is it’s easier to get a third party to sort it out.

But I acknowledge, having been through a divorce in the past, that solicitors like to string things out and you pay for every phone call and letter!

The DVLA seems a good call. I’m sure they must have to deal with this all the time.

Sounds like you’ve hit the spot! Apparently HP released a firmware version earlier in 2016 which blocked third party inks from being used. There was an understandable upraw from users, with the BBC getting involved. Although no apology given, HP later released a firmware version in October 2016 which unblocks third party inks. I’ve yet to download this firmware, but fingers crossed, this will be the solution! Many thanks in advance!

If firmware is the problem, would it be possible to revert to an earlier version and how would this be done? Thanks.
